Plot twist. Suddenly MtGox reopens and gives back the Bitcoins to everybody. The euphoria is massive. The price goes up to $1200 again. Mark Karpeles is a hero.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know this guy? Hint, he just made bitcoin history. on: February 25, 2014, 09:41:09 PM
I saw an interview with him few hours ago on Euronews. He was in front the building.
Now all Europe knows that the biggest Bitcoin exchange is closed and people might not get their Bitcoins.
They just need to explain to the people what is Bitcoin.
I dont understand why they presented it like everybody knows what is Bitcoin. They should put a little background first.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi a rather unique event. on: January 11, 2014, 04:00:06 AM
satoshi is interesting only because it is anonymous. could be first anonymous billionaire although it would be by definition impossible to prove.

there are hundreds of anonymous billionaires in the underworld.

Most probably there is also anonymous trillionaires. Atleast one.

About Satoshi I can compare him with Nicola Tesla.

13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-E now having largest daily trading volume on: December 17, 2013, 06:19:28 PM
BTC-E is great in terms of being a fully functional quick exchange that accepts a wide variety of payment sources and also has a real-time chat room which although trolly at times is fairly novel and interesting to watch from a speculative perspective.

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: University of Nicosia to take BTC and offer MSc Digital Currency. on: December 08, 2013, 11:57:36 PM
University of Nicosia has reported to take BTC and offer MSc Digital Currency.

I was interested in this and wanted to learn more about the program. There is not much online. Anyone know who is running this or how to contact them directly?

Also I went to apply to the university and guess what, they take paypal but there is no way to pay in BTC that I could find Sad

Pretty disappointing but hopefully they are just updating things.

Hello,

I live in Cyprus, University of Nicosia is the largest uni here. Respected one. I have friend who finished Hospitality management there and I can say she is really good professional.
They do not accept BTC payments directly through the website, you have to call their financial department:
"Making Payments Using Bitcoin
If you would like to pay your tuition and/or fees using Bitcoin, please contact the Finance Department at the University of Nicosia at +357 22 841518" Check this page: http://www.unic.ac.cy/about-us/university-of-nicosia-digital-currency-initiative/bitcoin-payments

The University of Nicosia is launching the first Master of Science degree in Digital Currency that will be offered to students worldwide through online and in-person formats in Spring 2014.
Here is more info about the MSc Digital Currency: http://www.unic.ac.cy/about-us/university-of-nicosia-digital-currency-initiative/msc-digital-currency
They offer it also ONLINE, but i recommend anyone interested to visit Cyprus. It is great place here with good weather almost all year round Smiley

And finally you can subscribe to their mailing list: "To receive updates about the developments of the University of Nicosia Digital Currency Initiative, please enter your email address below to join our general mailing list for the initiative"
This is the link: http://www.unic.ac.cy/about-us/university-of-nicosia-digital-currency-initiative/for-more-information

Seems like the management of this private uni are smart and open minded people. Wish i had enough BTC to study there.
18  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoinity using mBTC, and IMO is the right move. on: December 04, 2013, 03:25:12 AM
Great move! Now when some others follow this example the media will report it and more people will get interested in buying Bitcoins.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to switch to mBTC soon on: December 03, 2013, 09:22:05 PM
Indeed it is possible that such a simple and meaningless distinction can actually be a competitive threat for Bitcoin. It's a real issue. Our services are ready for the mBTC switch at any time, however we are looking at the big services to take the lead. The risk of added confusion is big if major services don't support mBTC and we make a complete switch.

What I'm thinking is that there could be a grace period where both units are used together. We might do this. It's not as clean, but it will lead to less confusion.

Yes, for example on your site where it is written the 1 BTC = 1054 USD below it you can write 1mBTC = $1.054 and link to article on the homepage that people can buy also mBTC which is 1:1000 from a bTC and the big exchanges can also put next to the BTC price also mBTC and explanation about what is mBTC this will be a good start.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Bitcoin ATMs Coming to Vancouver on: December 03, 2013, 10:53:03 AM
What about a big hotel in popular tourist resort?
That sounds like something he might agree to. Will they use our open source POS? It's free Smiley

How it is working? Is it just software? I can ask them. It will be also good PR move from them to attract attention to the business and Bitcoin customers.
