1  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the economy situation in your country that bad? on: January 25, 2018, 03:03:19 PM
I see that this is an old thread, i just happened to see it while i was scrolling down. I hail from a little known country called Sri Lanka off the coast of India. Its an island nation with a little over 22 million people.
We have had an open economy since 1970, it's close to 5 decades, its sad to say that our economic policies have run us into the ground. Back in 60's our country used to much much better than most other countries and we had so much potential. But a corrupt elite appointed politicians have ruined our chances of becoming the economic powerhouse it had the potential to be. Our neighbouring countries and fellow asian countries took advantage of our poor economic management and established themselves in the region. We are lagging behind massively and neither the people nor the politicians have realised that yet or care about it. Its a sad sad situation.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: why do people agree to pay taxes? on: January 22, 2018, 02:14:54 PM
This is how wars erupt. I think its fair for them to charge a certain amount of money from its citizens for providing services, as long as the charges are fair and the services are of the quality people expect.
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is unpredictable job. on: January 21, 2018, 01:24:25 AM
Trading in cryptoland is totally unpredictable. Never before has human emotion effected markets this much. You need to have copious amounts of self control to be in this game. What I practice and try to practice still is self control, and not to FOMO. I'm having a hard time doing this. I think people know what to do, its just that they have a hard time doing it.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would you live in a country that use bitcoin as official currency? on: January 19, 2018, 05:32:09 AM
It's a bit of an Utopian idea. But would i live in a country where you are paid in digital currency yes, i would, i would love to. Because to me the mode of payment doesn't really matter, as long as currency serves its purpose ( legal tender for exchanging goods and services). I pay for my grocery with my shopping card and most of my payments here in Singapore are in digital form. Singapore would soon move to a cashless country.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think digital currency will ever replace paper money? on: January 19, 2018, 04:58:49 AM
Guys most of the fiat money exist in digital form already if you haven't noticed. They might not be cryptocurrency, but they are in digital form. When you transfer money, its mostly numbers that just add up and not actual money. So yes there's a very very high possibility that fiat might not exist in future at all. Its just cumbersome to carry them around. How many of you pay with fiat at grocery shops? Not a lot.

If two people love each other then who are we to stand against them.
7  Other / Off-topic / Re: punishment for rapists on: January 18, 2018, 03:27:39 PM
I think the punishments should be according to the existing law, if the punishment is too light, then the laws have to be amended.
A list of rapists and their whereabouts have to be kept and this should be publicly accessible , and they need to report to the local police station every week or so. The neighbours have to be notified if a rapist moves into their neighbourhood.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: January 18, 2018, 01:01:28 PM
The fact that it's purely a speculative currency. This and the fact that this whole shibang started with this. Other than that what's there to love. Its massively slow, transactions take ages.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people invest in bitcoin? on: January 18, 2018, 04:49:23 AM
The way you word your question is very suggestive. Investing in bitcoin is a choice, you can either do it or not. There are plenty of other ways you can earn money, safer alternatives than bitcoin.
Currently bitcoin is purely a speculative currency, there's nothing backing it, it's massively slow due to blockchain limitations, and therefore cannot be adopted by mass market. But you can think about investing in it because it can yield you profits, profits that would take you years to make using traditional investment instruments. This to me is the only reason why you should invest in bitcoin.
Why should you invest in Ethereum, however is a story for another day.
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: January 18, 2018, 03:07:17 AM
Depends on your risk profile. If you like to play it safe then saving is the way to go. If want to take a little bit of a risk then invest in a good market that pays you good dividends. However if you have a decent amount of money, enough to get on with your life, then my advice for you is to be happy with what you have and get on with it. Investment market can be quite difficult for a newbie, and its easy to lose your money.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get Rid Of Bitcoins ? on: January 18, 2018, 02:46:03 AM
Why though? Depends on your goal to be honest. Whether you want to see short term gains, or long term gains. If you want to increase your share, then my suggestion is to invest some in ICO's. It's still too premature to get rid of bitcoins. It's still a great speculative coin. The market will pick up after the jan dip.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm late! on: January 13, 2018, 03:05:54 AM
You can't time the market. I believe you are never too late.
13  Other / Off-topic / Re: What did you want to be when you were a kid? on: January 12, 2018, 04:19:02 PM

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is still Ok to invest in Etherium on: January 12, 2018, 02:47:47 PM
it is. Etherium is a long hold coin for me. Don't invest 5k at once, invest in chunks at regular intervals.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Airdrops Profitable? on: January 12, 2018, 08:47:26 AM
Not as much as they used to be though. Last year i remember a lot of cryptoprojects came out offering airdrops. but these days i barely see any, any profitable ones that is.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pros and cons of whitepapers on: January 12, 2018, 06:34:38 AM
A good whitepaper should be concise. It should clearly reveal the problem its trying to solve and why their solutions works in believable terms.
