1  Local / Skandinavisk / Säljer trasiga neptune kuber. on: May 24, 2016, 10:44:33 AM
Hej,

Ive got 4  Neptune cubes that won´t start. I run the standard -0.0366 and I have tested with different MHz.
Opened them up and cleaned them out of dust and changed the heatsink-paste.
One of them seem to have those brown rings under the asic-chip. Not completely burned, just a hint of brown.
Is there anything to do to make them work?

Im back again. This night the miner stopped working again.

Two short white flashes from the led, and no cubes showing up on the status-page. Is the controller-board broken for real now?
Yep. Interesting. Is the FPGA hot?

Did it not work with just the one cube by chance?

Is FPGA the big black chip? That one is cold.
How does this happen? This was the second board in one week of mining. They are used before of course. Im running 4 cubes on 2x 750w PSU, can that have some impact?
It does not work with one cube either.

Hm. So you blew out two boards in a week? Odd. One of your miners must have a short or something that's taking out the FPGA signal lines, they are *not* buffered.

Before we blow up repairs, can you use an ohm-meter to test resistance from ground to each of the 10 pins on the 10 pin plug on each miner? One of them will not be like the others....

C

Havent got an Ohm-meter, but I am pretty sure that one of the cubes was damaged. Is there spare parts to order? Which one is the FPGA?

Another question: isnt the standard password för SSH "admin"?

admin/admin gets you into the web page the first time. Then you set a password. For ssh you use root at the username and the password you set as the password.

For a Titan controller you can also log in as user pi, same password as root

C

Ok, this is what I have done:
I have booted the neptune from a mini SD-card, described in this guide: http://ssh.vyper.kafit.se/wp/wp-content/uploads/KNCMiner%20restoreguide.pdf

everything seams ok until I connect the asics to the board, then the status page and the advanced settings stop working. The asics dont get warm and the miner isnt running, so it is not just the web interface that stops working, it does not start mining either.
I think I have figured out whats wrong. It is not all the asics that make the controller go bananas, it was only one of them. Now just 3 out of my 4 cubes are attached and it works!

Ah.... You have a cube that is going crazy. That's always kind of fun.

Any idea what it's doing? If you connect it and set all four dies to off is it still crazy?

C

No idea, as soon as I connect it to the controller the advanced settings-site stops working, so I cant set them to off.

Does the green light go out when the ASICs are connected?

The white light coming on followed by green usually means the FPGA has booted and all is well. That's really weird.

The green light is on. This is really wierd. Have done a lot of reboot and hardware resets aswell.

Hi!

I have a problem with my KNC Neptune. The Web interface is fucked up, the status-site and the advanced-site does now load. The others are ok.
Does anyone else have this problem, and did you manage to solve it? Or is it a hardware-failure?

others on here know more but off the top of my head get a new SD card. I use on my Titans Sandisk Class 10 type.

So it is an easy way to tell. I had it happen on a Titan where it just mucked up..and so just copied my settings and re-did it on a new SD cleared up.

Again others on here would say...also probably obvious put I assume you powered down and rebooted the works? (not sure of you expertise)

anyway something to do till better folk chime in here anyway

Ive rebooted the miner from the software a lot of times, and turned of the PSU a lot of times aswell. Reseted the controller with sd-card aswell. Have a Sandisk card.

There is a way to re-install the software on an SD card up on the KNC web site. For a neptune it's simply putting a bunch of files on a blank sd card, then plugging it in and letting it rip. That should restore it. For a Titan you use something like w32diskimager to re-install the software, then go from there.

If that doesn't work does the white light come on then off on the controller board or does it just flash?

C

Done that.  The status page and the advanced page are ok untill the asics are connected to the board. Then they stop working. The white light flashes one time and then the green starts to shine.

Anyone having problem with the KNC Neptune Web interface?
I cant access the first site, and not the "advanced settings" either. The neptune does not work, but I can browse the other menues.

I am willing to pay for someone to help me with this one.
16  Local / Skandinavisk / KnC Jupiter eller Neptune Kontrollerkort on: March 15, 2016, 06:18:45 PM
Goddag,

Skicka PM

Allt väl
