1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Karpeles may be making "Hello Kitty" Items if Prison he goes I kid thee NOT on: August 03, 2015, 02:56:55 AM
If it is anything like american justice, he will either get probation, house arrest, or a low security resort prison.

I don't understand why you would use a dictionary when there are perfectly good word generators?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed transaction - 9 hours! on: July 09, 2015, 04:19:21 PM
This is so silly!  What did they think would happen with the stress test!  Just wait, the backlog should clear soon.
4  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New Calls To Strip Churches of Tax Exempt Status After Same-Sex Marriage Ruling on: June 29, 2015, 07:20:38 PM
Making everyone take the hit on taxes for gay marriage wasn't enough, now they want to actively attack religious groups right on the heals of the supreme court ruling. Some one is a poor winner. The motives here are more clear every day, and it has nothing to do with equality.

Its ok.  Religious groups have been attacking everyone else for ages.  So I don't mind seeing them get a taste of their own medicine for once.
5  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] CCEDK.com signs bank agreement - Zero deposit fees on USD, EUR and CNY. on: June 22, 2015, 06:26:07 PM
I just found this exchange, the fees are pretty low compared to other exchanges.  I might have to try this one out.
6  Other / Meta / Re: Should ChainProfit.com be moved to Gambling section ? on: June 21, 2015, 08:30:07 PM
Yes, please move it.  It is not a scam or an investor based game.  It is like a casino.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitLicense - EOBOT follows Xapo and leaves New York on: June 20, 2015, 08:00:46 PM
As long as they don't move when some acceptable form of regulation is put in to place.. Better start getting used to being regulated on some level..

I agree, but the big banks in america own the government and are buying regulation specifically designed to have a chilling effect on the bitcoin economy.  The regulations being put into place are absurd, far reaching, and beyond any reasonable measures.  They are grasping at straws because it is far easier to move a bitcoin exchange compared to a bank imo.  Congrats to the Eobot team for making the right decision.

Religion lol are you serious?  OK I see the connection you are trying to make but I can;t see anything spiritual about bitcoins.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have you ever been to jail? on: June 16, 2015, 09:23:02 PM
As Orange is the New Black has made its return in Season 3, I was jsut wondering what "real" jail is  like.

I know in Orange the prison is all female, but I would like to hear about both.

How much time did you serve?
Is the food that bad?
Does rape still happen?
Is it necessary to join a  gang?

Are there any truths from the show? How does the shows prison differ from real prison?

OK so I never went to jail, but I know a little bit because I read about things like this.  First let me make it clear that the jails/prisons in USA are on par with those in 3rd world countries, and most places don't have such bad conditions for prisoners.

I don't know about the food, but yes rape happens.  However it is supposed to be that most of the sex is consensual.  Think about it, if you had  a 20 year sentence you might start batting for the other team.  Why not, you gotta get your rocks off somehow.  For joining a gang, I think it depends on what prison you are in, some yes and some no.

Many of the prisons in the USA are run by private companies, can you imagine?  The idea is that they can save money, but as you might imagine you can't get blood from a turnip and those savings have to come from somewhere.  Severe overcrowding is the most obvious symptom of this.

But the worst part is that private prisons lobby for harsher penalties for crimes, and against things like the decriminalization of drug addiction.  If alcoholism is a disease and needs to be treated, why not meth addiction?

Anyway as usual letting private industry into something that should only be run by the government fucks things up as much as you might imagine.

Nice video.

13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin startup taxation on: June 14, 2015, 10:40:56 PM
It is not just bitcoins, but all crypto from my understanding that you have to worry about.  From what I have read on the subject I think that it is best to consult a tax professional just to be sure.  There are also local regulations to contend with in some areas, and it would be really easy to make a mistake.

You need to report any time a bitcoin is exchanged, not just when it makes a profit.  Kind of like stocks.  So if you buy something with bitcoins you need to translate to the cost of dollars, and compare that to the price when you bought bitcoins.  AFAIK the irs wants us to use FIFO for bitcoin accounting.  This makes tracking purchases and sales needlessly complicated, and I would seriously consider getting some software to track the stuff for your business.  At least this is my understanding, but the irs has been pretty vague on the issue leading me to believe that there will be plenty of court cases to come.

Best of luck!

That is so obviously an accident, I don't know how anyone could pretend that it is not.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Node observer: Bitcoin Core Vs Bitcoin TX | 6040 vs 135 on: June 12, 2015, 04:43:55 PM
Interesting numbers.  The problem is that if no one updates then we will have some problems.  However Gavin said that he wanted to start early because if it is going to happen, it might take 6 months or longer to get switched over to the new version.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kraken just introduced "Dark Pool" on: June 11, 2015, 12:15:21 PM
Thanks, but I like to see the order books.  To me this seems like a way for them to make some extra coin, but taking away information.  Interesting.  I saw the title and was tickled because kraken from what I understand requires a high level of personal info compared to other exchanges.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why ISIS winning in Iraq? on: June 10, 2015, 06:01:29 PM
remember that really big iraqi army that usa kicked to the curb?  they became the insurgency?  well that is where all the good soldiers went.  You can train all you want but its not going to make a good army over night.  The iraq reconstruction was so poorly handled that it is hard to believe that it was not on purpose.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to pack it up on: June 10, 2015, 12:28:54 AM
Excellent.  I can hear them quaking in their boots.  Most people don't realize just how expensive it is to use credit cards.  IF they did then the cards would go out of business overnight.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quite new to bitcoin; need help? on: June 10, 2015, 12:25:59 AM
If you want to mine you should think about investing in some real hardware, but it your electricity costs more than 5c/kwh, then the earnings are going to be small.  Just fyi there is a whole sub forum for beginners and help.  Lots of good stuff in there!
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Millennials trust Bitcoin more than Fiat! on: June 08, 2015, 06:52:57 PM
Of course they trust it more.  You can't just print billions of bitcoins to pay off debt.  The millennial got the shaft.  Crappy job market, insane housing costs, and an absurdly overpriced college system.  Best of luck to them I guess.  But what really gets me is when older people call them lazy.  These people grew up with a good job market (you could support a whole family on a single income, imagine that!), reasonable  priced housing, and didn't even need a degree to get a good job.
