I don't think it's only because of the bad news ,I believe the growth of other cryptos effects bitcoin. The high price of bitcoin and the good performance of some crypto currencies like ethereum in small price compared to bitcoin make investors to choose those cryptos to invest.
LOL, if it were so then other cryptos wouldn't have dropped down as well. Pretty much all cryptos have fallen down to about 50% or more from their ATH. Ethereum was showing some resistance initially but it fell down as well.

With GTX 1050 it's be best to run it on equihash algo. Probably something like ZEC (If you want an established coin), or Zencash if you want something newer.
Or BTCZ if you want to risk it on something that might (or might not) get hyped tomorrow. But for NVIDIA cards it's best to run them on equihash. But profitability (in terms of fiat) is down right now, you'll make like 70 cents before power on a single card per day.

I'd recommend you to get 2 850W power supplies. It is usually recommended that you don't draw more than 80% of total capacity. Even if you underpower (which you should) in MSI AfterBurner , you should understand that at times GPUs can still draw max possible power. Using two 850W power supplies will work best. I prefer keeping it safe when cost involved in doing so isn't that significant.

if eth goes pos every gpu will be useless, but to be more safe in future for other coins/algos go for 8gb
lol you really think itll go POS soon? i dont think the devs have even figured it out yet. theyre just dangling that pos carrot, so that an asic manufacturer doesnt put in R&D and annihilate difficulty. i also strongly believe that when eth tries to go POS, there will be another fork for POS eth and POW eth on the current chain. then we'll have etc ethpos and ethpow. people will hate on me for this, but im extremely bullish on etc. maybe ill make a post in the speculation section as to why. i dont give a fuck what eth does because i dont mine it, only retards mine eth. its much cheaper/more effectiv to mine other stuff, sell for btc and buy eth if you want WTF are you on about? Ethereum is the most profitable coin to mine on RX 570

I kinda a did 50-50 on both. Mining has a relatively higher entry point if you don't have a PC already. You can buy coins for any amount. I chose to mine because it's fun and I believe that in long term it is more beneficial. There is no right fit here, I have been reading people comment/blog about how mining isn't profitable since 2013 (sadly, I believed them back then and refrained from mining even though I had a decent PC). I remember thinking that .2 btc/ month isn't worth my attention ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Actually no one 'knows' that. Not a single person in the world has that information.
That is why I used the quotes, as in we believe that to be true, isn't that why we are spending money and time in crypto world? Whether it is or not is something only future will tell.

Profitability is surely low but is it actually low?
We mine because we believe that in future the crypto we are mining will give us better returns. So mostly it is about holding for long enough that we gain whatever we set out to.
You really need to start thinking in terms of BTC / ETH /whatever you are holding instead of fiat if you want to mine/trade crypto tension free.
good point https://www.nicehash.com/miner/16yLHLoeyuCLPMXkVpC3gyrRYvwRGwjKJrthis account makes 0.0099 btc a day or 3.65 btc a year If I mine and hold all that matters is the price of BTC 1 year from now. But this gear is paid off fully the power cost is zero as it is all run on solar energy Thus I can mine and hold for an entire year. If I need to do that. I just have one Rig and 3 CPUs I mine on. Electricity is cheap enough that I can pay bills without being bothered. But even if someone has to sell 25% of monthly coins generated to pay bills , it's still profitable in long run. Because we all 'know' that a year from now most major coins will be priced higher than they are after this crash

Anybody tested mining with amd ryzen? How much share do you guys get with amd cpu? I plan to build new pc with amd chips and I will be glad and thanksful if someone can share the info.
Arionum is not suitable for mining on an AMD processor. I get same hashrate on 4th gen i3 an an octacore AMD FX 8350

I think 2018 will be the year of Privacy Innovation.
We might see projects take off that will threaten Data centric companies like FB and Google, or atleast they'll try to

I have Gigabyte 3GB (x3) GTX 1060s and they gave 15 MH/s out of the box. 17-18 with OC.
It's twice as profitable to mine Equihash on these. I get 300-310 Sols/s with OC @ 2.94 Watt/Sol or 280 @ 3.02 W/Sol

This does look interesting, AI and Blockchain seem to one of the hottest projects currently (far better than random forks that do nothing different).
Is there any AIrdrop or Bounty? If so when will the info regarding the same be out?

This is an interesting project, and very useful! The only thing is that won't it be too much to bear for a phone?
Many people who have been mining claim that it is not too heavy on phone or battery. If you are interested then I'd suggest you to post your specs and apply for alpha mining so you can check it yourself. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Guys who are already mining: how many tokens per hour are you getting from mobile mining?
You should try asking this on their telegram channel. Most already accepted members are active there than here ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Awesome! I've noticed that my dashboard hasn't had mining enabled yet, likely to happen today? Thanks
Not necessarily, but you are now approved and whenever they add more miners you'll get it enabled in Dashboard ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Hi,
I am a computer science engineer and crypto enthusiast from India, and I'd love to do this. I am generally online between 12 PM (noon) to 2 AM. My personal Twitter account has over 11,000 followers, so I know a thing or two about social media management and interaction.
I have two other friends who will be interested in contributing to your social profile. Both of them are active Twitter users and Science Postgraduates with schooling from highly prestigious convent schools.
