Just completed my BOINC setup. I have used Folding@Home and BOINC in the past on various rigs and recently told someone about it who then pointed me in this direction!  Smiley

Thanks I tried to mine Primes XPM but after 3 days I had 0 luck.

Yeah Primes are very popular, and very hard to get solo mining - I use a pool for SRC, but even that is getting lower returns as the price keeps going up.

Thanks for the tip... I might try SRC,  Is there alot of CPU coins? I read about Quarkcoin and thought about that one but the dif is high..

There are protoshares, Yacoin and primecoins that I know about aswell. not sure which is best to mine though.

A CPU will have a hard time getting DGC, unless you use a pool (would still be low)

There are CPU coins though, DGC's sister coin is one of them (SRC - Securecoin) - you'd have much more luck with them, and they're worth a bunch.

Thanks Frank it's helps a little ... I guess the calculators do not take into account future exchange rates between btc and $$ which would be hard to do even if it's a guestimate.

I guess the real question is - if you had the spare money would you invest in 3 x Prospero X-1 and expect to get your money back + profit?

I'm not familiar with that brand, I'm hoping to get a KNC miner when they release their next lot. I do think mining is still a viable way to make some money.

When Bitcoin was first mined, it was practically worthless: electricity + equipment would vastly outweigh profit, but look at them early adopters now. With Bitcoin having the potential to capture 5% of the FOREX market, giving it a potential value of 1000000$ per coin someday, I'm not giving up, lol.

thanks Wink

don't everyone talk at once now lol

lol, welcome Smiley

I think you'll not get many replies for this reason:

"Hello threads" will be deleted if they do not contain any information other than you announcing your presence here.  Replies that contain no content will also be removed.

This is being done in an effort to lower the noise here, there is too much spam posting.

Anyway, welcome none the less. I hope Bitcoin is good to you Grin

Go to your power saving settings (in your OS), and change them to high performance mode.  That's what mine is set on and I don't have those issues.

I'm pretty sure buying would be the most effective thing to do in my case. My hardware isn't exactly great for heavy processing.

CPU: Intel Celeron 900 @ 2.2 GHz

GPU: Intel GMA 4500M

Yeah, your right. Mining with that would be pointless, I'm afraid.

You would be better off buying coins.

do the research..

if you have a good computer performance i3/i5/i7 do CPU mining; if you have a good GPU do the GPU mining. If you have good CPU with GPU mine with GPU&CPU

Yes, but check your electricity prices first. It might be the case you are mining at a loss, so buying might be cheaper

People stopped mining because they where paying more in electric than they got in Bitcoin. If they had the sense to realize Bitcoin would go up in value, they would of made a profit even they they where loosing at the time.

Profitability sites are based on the current price of Bitcoin, so even if you mine less than they predict, it may end up being worth far more.

Also, there are other coins that use the same protocol as Bitcoin, these can also be mined with ASICs.

Hope that helps a little Smiley
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can it be earning BTC from just ads and faucets on: November 27, 2013, 10:22:42 AM
I believe it's not worth it, as tiny amounts will end up forcing you to pay higher transaction fees when you send over the size limit (Kb)

I'm new though, so I may be wrong.

From what I understand there is no point whatsoever in trying to mine BitCoins with a GPU.

Mine LiteCoins or something similar and look to exchange them for BitCoins.

That is true, there are easier coins to mine than LTC aswel, like WDC and DGC.

With their prices soaring, you can make quite a bit more than mining Bitcoin.
