1  Economy / Speculation / Re: xmas = volatility on: December 24, 2013, 07:12:07 PM
The reason for volatility is simple.
Somebody probably asked Santa for cheap coins. Santa will probably try to make coins cheap before buying them driving the market downwards. Once that person is given the cheap coins they must go up because otherwise the coins weren't cheap Smiley

So what happens if many people have asked for coins?

Anyone who has done trading for a few years knows that when the Christmas holidays come, the markets drop in volume allowing rogue traders to move the market without too much effort.

So be ready for some market manipulation in the coming days, there may be some volatile swings, but it wont be a crash or a spike - it will be individuals trying to move the market - corrections will occur within hours if people dont start to panic.

If you DO start to panic just remember one thing - always be hodling.  Grin

Not sure, but in the UK / US that is often the case (end of the month, or beginning of the month).

And since this month that falls on a weekend, many banks wont clear it until Monday.

So the fun starts next week Wink

Has anyone done analysis on the current cost of mining rig, and its ROI based on mining different types of coins?

For example, I would like to know what the ROI would be if a KNC jupiter were used to mine bitcoins compared to litecoins.

I understand this would be very time sensitive since the difficulties and market prices are constantly changing, but even a snapshot in time comparing ROI would be useful.

Does anyone know if such analysis has been done?
