What a depressingly scumbag move by the zcash people. guess its time to find another coin that actually promotes freedom of choice.

Someone else said it already, but this statement from the zcash foundation is more likely credible than that article above :
https://z.cash.foundation/blog/statement-on-asics/

Though it's interesting that the Zcash foundation seems to be at odds with Zooko .... here's the quote

"...Another complicating factor is that the Zcash Company’s chief, Zooko, has signalled ambivalence about ASIC resistance.

The Foundation is in the process of adopting community feedback as part of our own governance process, and in fact has already planned to represent the community’s interest in this debate via a proposed ballot for our election process. "

Exactly. I don't understand all the people in this thread shouting "they will fork!" Did those people not read the official statement? The link has been posted twice now. They definitively state they are not forking right now and they might not fork at all. They also state that if they DO fork, it won't be until late this year. The exact quote:

"If it’s necessary based on our evaluation of the ASICs on the network, we will hire a developer to construct and submit a ZIP to mitigate its effect on the network. If the Zcash core development team and community approves, it will ideally be deployed by late 2018."

Read the statement people

Also tell me how you can brick a GPU with a fork.

power up the GPU and start mining. While mining, drag your fork across the exposed pins/leads of components on the board, soon all the magic smoke is released, et voila, GPU==brick.

 Cheesy haha
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: May 08, 2018, 10:25:23 PM
And now.  Go go buy z9 minis in 50s. Tongue Tongue and while they mine with the Z9 daddy's.
https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020180508093353839KImUPAl00686
To ensure that more individual buyers can purchase miners in this batch, we have set a limit of 50 miner per user.

Shitmain doing a shitmain performance. Coins are forking (except Z-cash) or announcing a fork so they need to get rid of their bricks ASAP. As long as they have idiots buying, why would they stop ?

For those you did not read this thread from the begining, it was supposed to be ONE Z9 per buyer.

Zcash is forking https://www.ccn.com/zcash-foundation-to-make-asic-resistance-immediate-technical-priority/

Their official statement says they are exploring their options and that they haven't come to the final conclusion:

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 07, 2018, 11:38:22 PM
Can you show the FPGA working in a video?

How can you limit units? If a user want to buy a lot of pieces...

And the most important, how can we trust to buy and receive the board?

Thanks

Trust is the most important word

even at this forums system doesn't trust newbies as it automatically warn members carefully dealing with them

I would suggest that OP should ask for a trusted legendary members here for a review of the product

and for the payments, an escrow as an example

These are good ideas. I'd purchase a few units if the above were in place.
