2  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: XFX 7970 Black Edition Mining Issues on: January 27, 2013, 01:58:03 PM
It's the new driver. I'm seeing this too with 13.1

The previous driver 12.10 was fine. I'll be rolling back to the older driver soon as it is rather annoying!
Thanks, that fixed it! Not sure if this is widely known, but I'll change the subject in case it isn't.
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / [Solved: Catalyst 13.1 was the culprit] XFX 7970 Black Edition Mining Issues on: January 27, 2013, 09:56:30 AM
I can't get this card to effectively mine. Replaced a 5830, which mined happily 24/7, with a 7970, and now there are constantly artifacts/glitches in the display and eventual crash after a couple hours of mining in cgminer.

I've tried mining at stock speeds, underclocked, overclocked, even setting the temperature ceiling very low.

Catalyst 13.1 with its version of APP SDK.

Is this a known issue? Any help is appreciated.

Can the "--no-pool-disable" option be set via the .conf file?
5  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: April 27, 2012, 11:58:28 PM
I can't connect to GPUMAX, either. It appears that GPUMAX changed my worker's username unannounced, so I've tried to use both the old and new username, with "abc123" as the password, as that's what the dashboard tells me to use. I then created a new worker, and I tried that new username. None of these work.

I've tried to follow this thread closely, and I don't see any explanation beyond the IP range locking. Is this still being worked on? When should I expect to have GPUMAX usable again?
6  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: April 04, 2012, 01:38:47 AM
is gpumax down for others? my miners arent getting any work and occassionally when they do the shares all being rejected
The "pool" isn't accessible for me, either, but the website is working fine...
7  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: March 16, 2012, 11:10:04 PM
Not sure if this should or should not be happening, but when I look at one of my workers it does a couple shares of private then a couple public then a couple more private and so on.

It seems really strange. Did you change how that works by chance?

That's how mine is.  About 50/50 public/private.
Looks like that's exactly what it is. Half of my shares are going public, half private.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: March 09, 2012, 01:48:44 AM
For those of you whom don't feel like waiting for the BitForce Single, I'm giving one away for half a bitcoin.

Raffles are for people who are bad at math.

Usually they're for fun, but in this particular circumstance it's a way to get a BitForce Single with a guaranteed delivery time.
Like he said, acquiring a BFL Single this way nearly mathematically guarantees a delivery time of "never."
9  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: February 28, 2012, 04:02:35 AM
It's not really a problem as much as it is people buying shares on pools that can't handle the load which we are still fine turning to protect our miners.  Updates coming soon will address this and make buyers pay for rejects on pools that have issues so the miners are not penalized for it.

EDIT: We get a lot of pools ops testing their system which is not something miners should have to pay for with rejects and stales.
Over a very extensive sample, I have a .78% reject rate. GPUMAX's tends to be MUCH higher when doing leased work, hard to figure without the figures being broken out, but my current rate is 1,674,816 accepted, 79,673 rejected, or 79,673 / 1,754,489 ~ 4.54%, and I think the bulk of that comes from the public work. I would gladly accept not being paid for up to 1% rejects, but I think anything above that ought to be paid for by the buyer.

Any chance the pool settings could be stored in a separate configuration file? It would sure make changing those in bulk/on multiple rigs a lot easier, when my pool preference order changes... distribute one pools.conf to each rig.

It also would be nice to have an ability to re-order pools from within cgminer.

I've got 3 BTC in bounty for each.
Can I have the 2nd one Smiley
With the API, you simply move any pool of choice to position 0 (highest priority).
The number of moves to get the required order is at maximum, the number of pools.
How many pools do you have anyway?
Frankly, I have no idea how to use the API. Have started cgminer with the --api-listen command, and can get 127.0.0.1:4028 to return a file called "download," but that's as much as I can get. Would prefer to use miner.php based on the description, but opening it in a browser just yields the text contents of the file...

EDIT: Notably, using Windows...
Well you can actually do it from within cgminer anyway:
Press "P" for Pool management
"S" for Switch pool
and then the number of the pool -> this will make it the top priority pool

So if you have pools 0, 1 & 2 but want the priority to be 2, 1, 0
You would first switch to 1 then switch to 2

As for the other half Smiley
I've just put up a pull request to ckolivas (after I asked him if he was interested in it - he said no)
to allow one "include":"filename" in the json file (which is allowed to be recursive - up to 10 times - to avoid infinite loops)
It's simple and will not be made more complex.

If you save the configuration from within cgminer, the output will contain ALL settings (except will not contain the "include" setting)
The reasoning behind this is that if you change anything within cgminer, there could be complex multiple definition issues and all settings loaded and changed would need attributes about where they came from and if they were changed - way too complex.
Also, if you set a setting within cgminer that was in an included file, the included file would always override it, your setting would never stick.

Separating just the pools and only having them in their own file would be a backward compatibility problem.

Hopefully the simple solution is enough, coz I can't see a more complex version ever being implemented (since it would require a major redesign of how configuration settings are handled within cgminer)

We'll see if he allows it in or not Smiley

3 sent for 2 half solutions. Thanks!

Hmm well dynamic could be the culprit then indeed. And that won't really have anything to do with the 2nd thread being disabled, but perhaps because the worksize is constantly changing, it might not be offsetting the right amount and repeating work. That will need fixing...
I was noticing higher rejects with 2.2.x also, and upon searching, found this same problem with dynamic intensity. Switched to a static intensity, and the problem went away.

16  Economy / Goods / Re: Gauging interest in open frame mining rig kits (partially pre-assembled?) on: January 17, 2012, 12:27:13 AM
i think the shipping will kill the deal. probably will cost $40+ due to its size.
The shipping should be pretty minimal, when not totally assembled. It should pack pretty flat.
17  Economy / Goods / Gauging interest in open frame mining rig kits (partially pre-assembled?) on: January 16, 2012, 11:56:46 PM
Would anyone be interested in kits for the Detritus open frame rig found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=29729.0

Included would be pre-cut lengths of aluminum, the plastic corner connectors, and a pre-cut sheet of acrylic to place the motherboard and power supply on. Depending on demand, the pieces could additionally be partially pre-assembled, and pre-drilled for mounting the motherboard and video cards.

I was thinking around $120 + shipping for them.

Thanks for your interest!

Wrd.  I remember for my Visa merchant account I was paying 14% off the top.  It's just ridiculous.

LOL

And oh yeah, I'd rather pay a higher fee to Paypal along with the very real possibility they freeze your accounts for no good reason. WAY better than your own merchant account...

I LOVE people griping about their merchant fees, hearing about 14% gross fees, when any schmuck can get 1.5%. You really acquit yourself as a savvy businessperson.
