Just a quick post to give Minersource credit for issuing refund on X3.  Took a few weeks but check came in the mail and cleared.  Thanks for being legit.
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Supply to Overclock Prospero X-3? on: December 18, 2013, 07:02:27 PM
Keep in mind the X-3 as of now has a high likelihood of coming as two separate physical units, in which case scaling up the power supply on a single physical box wouldn't require such high wattage single power units.  A 750 watt unit might already be almost 50% over spec (assuming 1050 watts total / 525 a box).
4  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling CUBAN CIGARS Full Boxes and Individual Cigars - MtGox +5% and 15% off! on: December 18, 2013, 05:25:24 PM
It's a scam.  He got me for a box of Behike 54's.  No further response to PMs after payment was made, asked for tracking number (ordered after his new 'policy' about having tracking number on all shipments) and got no answer, nothing in mail days after it was supposed to arrive, and probably the clearest sign of all is that he never even bothered to update the inventory on the main post to account for the 'sale'.  Just happy I didn't order two boxes!

sorry to hear that how long ago did you order from him?

Paid Dec. 7th but I paid a premium for express shipping for a holiday gift  Roll Eyes.  Haven't heard from him since, no change in inventory stock on main post since ordering, and for a while he was hanging around the forums with his online flag up but no response.

I suppose if they arrive randomly in the mail tomorrow or if I get a letter from customs I'll owe him an apology, but I gave up hope when I noticed he didn't change the inventory count and he wouldn't respond to PMs even while being live online.

If he didn't use premium shipping it could take a while I guess. No track and trace code?

We had specifically agreed on Canada Post Xpresspost to USA, and I was requoted and paid about $50 on top of the originally quoted price for expedited shipping.  Around 2-3 days shipping time if customs doesn't hold it and (as per Canada Post) it should come with tracking automatically.  For all I know he sent it and its held at customs / in line to be destroyed..  but that wouldn't explain why he won't respond at all, much less give me the tracking number, or why he didn't change from (4) to (3) boxes left to account for a legit sale.  Time may prove me wrong but at this point I would recommend avoiding buying here, if the OP even resurfaces, as of now he seems MIA.  Will update if anything changes.

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow announces 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.49/Ghash on: December 09, 2013, 10:20:33 PM
Ok, I placed an order with MinerSource for 2 X1's a couple of weeks ago, sent two emails since to the required address for payment details and still yet to Receive any info also Pm'd bobsag3 several times, was told in PM that it will be taken care of Post haste, never received any further information, all I have at the moment is the original email for the order with Matts email to send a request to for payment details. I give up on this waste of my time.

I haven't heard from anyone for a week now. Sad
Got 2 X3's @ $4,899.30
Now my order was screwed up and they both show @ 5,949.15 each with only $1,049.85 discount applied.
They already send me an invoice for 1st unit at correct price which was paid.
I just cant get the correct price and updated invoice on the 2nd unit.

Getting a little frustrated especially with all the BTC fluctuations lately on top of that.

UPDATE:   The communication problems were apparently due to the international travel, since bobsag3 has returned I've had no trouble at all resolving issues via PM.

Hopefully Minersource is just running very far behind on e-mails.  I asked a few questions via e-mail over a week ago and got next day responses, ordered an X3 and got a pretty prompt response (also next day) with payment quote in BTC and address to send to.  However, since sending BTC payment (five days ago) I have received no confirmation, no responses to e-mails, and the order has completely disappeared from my Minersource.net account.

Crossing my fingers that communications have slowed due to this China trip, and that I didn't just throw five grand into a black hole.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] btcolympus.com 28nm Hercules ~500 GH/s ASIC NO PREORDERS! on: December 09, 2013, 01:45:23 AM
Like others have said, if posts act as a placeholder for queue, put me down in line subject to pricing details.

Every major government already has "kill switches" for the public internet within their territory established in the name of emergency planning.  In addition, it is hard to believe that SHA-256 is not completely compromised in all respects by at least one three letter agency -- that could poison the system at any time they chose.  It's important to remember that while BTC may be incredibly useful and has/may continue to provide amazing returns -- its durability in the case of emergency or geopolitical turmoil is open to question.  I don't think OP was trolling.

That said, go BTC go!

Sure, and at the same time recomended for secure use by themselves, so anyone can compromise their systems anytime, brilliant !

Because a massively funded government agency that recruits top talent and has access to unpublished institutional research is exactly what we mean when we say 'anyone'.   Roll Eyes   Either way, after Snowden it seems apparent their focus on offensive capabilities had been so great recently that their own security protocols can hardly be used as exemplar.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What about LTC... on: November 29, 2013, 03:51:43 PM
You should be wary of the Gold / Silver story that LTC supporters push.  Nothing against LTC, and that storyline may easily take hold of the public's imagination and lead to a pattern of trading between the two in a fixed ratio related to their scarcity -- but gold and silver are two elements, and it's been quite a while since anyone created a new element.  The tradition of looking at the ratios of value between those two could easily break down in a world where millions of people can create a new element, with different properties, on a whim.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price discrepancy across exchanges widening on: November 29, 2013, 03:40:30 PM
The differences seem to be steady and correlated across these exchanges, which given the entry/exit barriers limits arbitrage to one-shot every entry/exit cycle to the limit of your resources (and willingness to trust them to these exchanges).  If there were more variation across the rates here -- if BTCe sometimes jumped over GOX or stamp sometimes was above BTCe and other times below -- then holding funds in all the three would allow for great arbitrage opportunity.

Has anyone recently signed up and verified past the scanned documents level?  I'm wondering how long it took.  It's only been 24 hours but I sort of thought it was be a 10 minute process for someone to just look at the scans and check that the info matched.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Standard New Member Post on: November 29, 2013, 03:03:51 PM
I guess this New Member post is required to post elsewhere.  I decided to invest $10k in BTC when it was at $3 ... then got distracted by life events and never pulled the trigger.  Rather than jump off a bridge now, I figured I'd make an account on here.
