1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Won't get any shares. R9 290. If you solve my problem you get 0.8 LTC on: January 24, 2014, 06:23:36 PM

I am running 4x R9 290s and I had to upgrade from 4GB to 16GB to get it to run at all.

The thread concurrency for the 290s  and 290x is usually over 30000 so you need a lot of RAM for the initial startup. Once it starts, RAM doesn't matter any more.

A way to test this is to set your thread concurrency really low to see if it starts properly. Maybe something around 8192 to start. If everything starts up that way but not when you set it to the default concurrency(30592 for mine), you need more RAM.

Thanks. I picked up 8GB over lunch and will add it this evening to see just how much I need. I'm hoping 8GB is enough, but will scale to 12 then 16 until I get it working. I heard somewhere that I cannot find now, 2GB/card usually works. Looks like I just have an evening full of playing with a rig ahead of me.

Just curious, but how much ram did you need?

I'm try to get a rig of 5 cards up and running. I initially bought 4 GB and have more on the way. Wondering if 8/16/32 is required for 5 cards. Right now I have 2 up and running with low intensity just to have something hashing. Hoping 8GB for 5 cards will be enough, but anyone's input would be appreciated.

Edit: Running ASUS R9 290 cards if it matters.

Sorry if this has been asked a hundred times, but I'm late to the long thread. Has anyone found a good idle worker email alert system for multipool.us? I tried cgwatcher, but it kills mu hashrate. And I have not found another great way to monitor my workers.

Mine went through the same thing. It was entered for clearing and released about 5 hours later. Seems to be a standard part of the process. (shipping to Philadelphia, PA)

Is anyone else bummed that this group buy closed after 193 sales?

There would have been another raffle for a free Antminer if it hit 200 sales.

Oh, no!  I will not drag it that long!

If it doesn't meet 100 raffles, the winner will be announced before the shipping date!!!

Will the raffle continue after the ship date if it does not reach 100? Or will everyone be refunded.

Edit: Not sure if that applies to the 200 mark raffle, but it at least was for the raffle tix.

Mine use about 370W stock or 410W overclocked from the wall measured with a Kill-a-watt.

So you should be able to get 3 on a 15A circuit with no other loads.  I wouldn't do 4!  (but 4 would fit fine on a 20A!)

Source:  I wired in 5-20A circuits and have the 2.2TH of Fury & ANTs running....

Thanks much! So if I'm looking for 10 on the next buy, I'll need at least 2 more 20A installed. That's going to be fun to pitch to my landlord.

Anyone know how many of these can go on a normal 110v 15a circuit? Not sure if it is worth wiring another circuit in my apt building to buy bulk next time.
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI to PCI-E converter? on: January 07, 2014, 01:31:27 PM
I resurrected an old mobo and an old thread. If I can't get it working, I'll probably sell the card rather than get a new motherboard since it's only a 7850. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll give that a shot tonight.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI to PCI-E converter? on: January 06, 2014, 02:44:52 PM
Would anyone have some pointers on getting one of the mentioned adapters to work if cgminer is not accepting shares? I bought one and tried with a powered 16x riser. Windows recognizes the card, but cgminer won't accept shares. Interested to see how you got these working if there were any config changes necessary.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any experience with using PCIe 1X interface? on: January 03, 2014, 07:24:12 PM
And as I am re-reading, disregard my post. I'm not using x1 to x16, just PCI to PCIe x16. I'll find another thread Smiley
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any experience with using PCIe 1X interface? on: January 03, 2014, 07:22:54 PM
Do the PCI to PCIe adapters require any specific drivers other than stock AMD drivers? I popped a card in and it shows in device manager, but 0.000KH/s in cgminer. Can't seem to get cgminer to recognize the card if it passes through the PCI to PCIe adapter and an x16 riser cable.

Got my two units a few hours ago. Yet again, no mention of custom duty or VAT. Nice.

Really hoping there is no charge for me either. I have it being sent to a UPS mailbox and picking it up later. Not even sure what they'd do if there's a charge.

What are you being charged for at time of delivery?

I haven't tried for a non-US address, but I would assume it is worldwide. UPS asks for a country when you first visit the site. Hence, it is asking me for my US-based address since that's what I selected.

so how about delivery before payment as an improvement, that would be faster Tongue

lol, thanks for the monday morning chuckle.

Is there a rough estimate of shipping time to united states? If not, I'll just wait patiently for tracking info.

What are the pros/cons of declaring customs if shipping to the united states?

+1.  Anyone have an answer to this?

This might be worth putting in OP for future GBs (hoping there are future GBs). It just made me wonder when I saw the "As usual @ own risk)
