DRK has been renamed to DASH.

See https://dashtalk.org/threads/official-statement-on-rebranding-to-dash.4297/ or https://www.dashpay.io/news/darkcoin-is-now-dash/ for more info.

Can you update the DRK to DASH?

Please update this! I found this to be confusing.

Also, please add Gridcoin Research (GRC) to the altcoin markets! They are listed on Bittrex, C-Cex and Poloniex (GRCX).

forking helped a lot of coins in the past which were accused of false distribution / scam .

If you do not wanna fork that means you agree that kolin and max will hold over 60% of the new solution ?
Ouch this way you can be sure the next solution will be a mess too as we both know kolin gives shit about a coin as long as he can make a quick buck.

The fork would be to kick out all these hidden wallets from kolin and max so you can say that at least 55% of these 60% will be kicked out and that a dumping wouldnt be possible anymore like they did in quark.

Why do you guys think Kolin is so extremly against a hard fork ?Because the coin could loose in faith which doesnt exist (hehe) or because he would loose his hidden wallets and his advantage

Okay, I think I understand how Quarkcoin may benefit from a fork. Suppose that a fork does happen, I can't help but imagine lots of users would be negatively affected by the fork in the same way hidden wallets are. I find it fairly easy to rationalize the need for a fork because of the large wallet holders. Although, you can't demonize all the large wallets together, right? I mean, all of the large wallet holders can't all be in on some sort of quasi-distribution scheme. Maybe some are making an attempt, but I have a hard time believing all of them are to blame. What about the internationally-based QRK market exchanges? Aren't they also included in holding large volumes? I remember when Russia had more public-listed nodes than any other country. Doesn't that mean there should be large wallet holders over there, too? The dynamic has changed. Kolin is just a cancerous entity trying to take advantage where he can, when he can. Sure, there are large holders who are North American continent-based. I just can't imagine this issue being too black/white.

IMHO, I am skeptical of any alternative that changes the current state of things because of the potential for volatility and mass market manipulation. I think our energy is best invested in other forms of improvement upon QRK. Such as, educating people about what cryptocurrencies are in-general. Selling/Buying  goods/services for QRK. Mining QRK with p2pool and running a node. There is so much talk and lots of wild ideas related to forking. Not enough doing.

Edit: two words.

Hello all, lots of troubling politics and talk ITT lately.

Thought I'd come to express my concern for Quarkcoin and the community.

To fork or not to fork?

I absolutely do not think Quark needs to be forked. If you value anything about this coin you will not support forking it because it will be worthless. This would be due to the fact our coins would be useless/incompatible with the new fork of QRK. Correct me if I am wrong, please. From what I can tell a fork can only hurt a coin, and as far as I know, you cannot change a coin without re-writing/doing the entire blockchain.

KOLIN (areyoukiddingme.png)

Alright, people. Seriously, Kolin is a market manipulator and a liar.

You guys remember that he was in bed with Bill Still, right?

Here's some evidence: http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/1439/help-bill-quark-random-addresses

Forum Post
Quote
Bill is not from a strong Tech background but as you may know if you watch his videos, he has concerns around privacy .

So i will be helping him randomly move his Quark to random addresses , in a random nature , we are sure "team Reddit" will say he's "selling out" but in fact if anything he has indicated to me that he will be cost price averaging into Quark -

so we bid our Reddit friends good luck in tracking which wallet and address is where -

we came up with this solution as Bill did not want to change his official donation address on You Tube as that would encompass rather a large amount of work i'm told -

So just to be clear Bill wants to explain he is 100% for Quark as i have gone over the issues related to a slow distribution as covered in  the  Neutral control theory : forum.qrk.cc/thread/1416/neutral-control-principal-theory

apart from the other innovations Quark offers and will offer from investment aspects this distribution issue is key.

as it really adds up to investor security -

Regards.

Privacy.

Announcing to the public that you're moving large amounts of money..

I'm sorry, but that is definitely not what people do when they privately move large amounts of money.

The crude screenshot he posted in reply to the post he made.

I can go on about how much of a bad person Kolin is in regards to how he behaves. However, I will not because if you don't see through his bullshit then you need to clear your lenses.

So guys i was thinking about getting myself a usb block erupters and mine, any idea what the hashrate of a single erupter is in comparison with r290 graphics card?

You are looking at the wrong coin to use a block erupter.
http://www.quarkcoins.com/mining-quarkcoin.html

By all means, mine quark on your CPU while mining some other sha256 coin on the block erupter.

Yes i mean with multi pool

A single usb block erupter (sapphire) will effectively run a SHA hashrate of ~336mh/s .. why would you want this? You'd barely get .25 if you mined with two of them all day. AntMiner USBs (2Gh/s) are like sub $30 on Amazon right now whereas assholes are trying to still sell Sapphire block eurpters for like $40+ to suckers.

An ATI R9 290 will be very inefficient at hashing SHA coins, comparatively per-watt. However, it will hash scrypt algorithms and additionally other algorithms.

I think usb erupter is less of a hassle for the non technical guys, how fast would they be if used on Scrypt? I believe the Quark multi pool is starting with scrypt any idea which scrypt coin would be the most profitable with a usb erupter?

Block erupter sapphires are only capable of hashing SHA coins because that's just what the ASIC device is designed for.

However, there are USB scrypt/SHA ASIC miners I've heard about that can mine one or the other, or both. I don't have any technical knowledge but know that they exist.

Can't say which scrypt coin would be the most profitable because I don't mine any scrypt coins. If I was to say, the first one that comes to mind is Worldcoin (WDC).

What is the sense of a multipool for quark,
or in general what sense makes it for a coin?
^^ sorry for the noobish question.

The community would benefit from a multi-pool because mining QRK isn't very profitable right now. So a multi-pool for QRK would mean that you could mine a scrypt-based coin which is exchanged for QRK within the multi-pool and your mining payment is sent in QRK instead of the coin you're mining. This doesn't benefit the network because of the redirection of hashing power, however, it does benefit the market-trading volumes. The multi-pool would eliminate part of the process of selling off your reward for mining.

Is there something wrong with the Quarkcoin mining pool?

I wasn't able to connect, the script it generates online won't work. As well as there aren't any active miners.

Stratum problems?

Edit: Just connected via stratum+tcp://qrk.e-pool.net:8910 and it worked, nevermind.

Thanks for the beta! Great work!
10  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BANK RUN! - P2P Fiat-Bitcoin Exchange on: February 13, 2014, 04:02:05 PM
Hello!

This looks fantastic, exactly what BTC needs. With a little tweaking this would be magnificent for alts.

I see that there is an escrow-like model to the exchanges where both parties must put down collateral.

Isn't this the wrong approach to have given the fact one party could still potentially scam the other? I'm not sure if this question has been addressed, yet. However, I will try to elaborate upon it.

For example, Ethereum has a p2p style escrow where the parties have trust ratings. The person who is putting the money forward can withdraw 1% a day, the other person getting the money can only withdraw 0.05% daily. Creating a drawn-out and delayed exchange given the fact one party could be fraudulent. The forwarding party can watch if the other receiving party has begun retracting their end of the deal. Except, the forwarding party can withdraw their funds faster due to the early warning the delay gives.

Is there any way some of this could get implemented ?

+1 for QRK!!!  Grin

Can't wait to see more exchanges factor QRK in.

They better do it sooner rather than later when it'll become more costly for them to setup!!

freeworm, could you please check your PM?
I'm having trouble with depositing coin on your exchange.
24 hours and it still doesn't show on my balance.
I've tried contacting support@bter.com, no reply, contacting the QQ address also, still not fixed.

Could you please help? I've sent the details in PM.
Thank you.

edit: fixed now. thanks
It will get worse when you want to withdraw ...

Really? Looks like I shouldn't have put all my eggs in one basket. Don't trust BTer or any of the market-trading sites because you never truly know....

I just got a qq support message from them in chinese, the translation said that I have an account imbalance of almost 4000WDC.  I had not sold or withdrew anywhere near that amount at the time the error occurred.  So if I understand it right, they are freezing my balance because they managed to screw up their ledger sheet somehow.

So, they may have been hacked/screwed/scammed and we are paying the price.
Great.

For all we know something could have happened over the holidays this week!

I've been having problems trying to Deposit, as well.

Waited over 16 hours since depositing twice.
My deposit has been confirmed in the altcoin's blockchain, too. So what gives, right?  Huh

Sent two emails and I figure nobody is there to reply or read them. I really don't want to use a third-party messenger program just to try and get in contact with them. I'll just hold and then take my funds else where once I get the opportunity.

A third email will be sent later this evening and in all-caps in an attempt to get their attention.  Grin
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Here's my newbie post. A little bit of info on my ~750Mh/s rig! on: November 30, 2013, 08:36:04 PM
  • 2 - Pentium 4's both doing ~850mh/m - LUbuntu (oddly enough sometimes in one round one of them or the other has more shares than the Core 2 Duo)
     1 - Core 2 duo - 3Mh/s - W7
     1 - Phenom 9600 Quad-Core - 10-15Mh/s - LUbuntu
     1 - 6750m - ~150-175Mh/s - MacOSx
     2 - Block Erupter Sapphire - ~650+Mh/s - LUbuntu

Lately I bought a couple of usb miners and now I've got my eye set on eventually paying for a 10Gh/s blade.

I've got a ways to go but it's a start.

Perhaps, I was thinking that I'd get to trading it eventually. I am sipping mimosa while watching the price fluctuate and peak at around $1133.88 USD. Seems like we may see a decline soon.

Does anyone have any suggestions, comments?
