1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Craigslist now has a checkbox to let buyers know... on: February 14, 2018, 04:32:21 PM
I put up one of my motorcycles for sale on Craigslist and I noticed they have put a checkbox there so that sellers can let the buyers know they accept cryptocurrencies. I thought this might be good info here.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano the new NEO? on: February 13, 2018, 05:56:33 PM
The number one factor hurting Cardano is their Daedalus wallet. I traded my Cardano because of the horrible sync times of their wallet.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who believes Tron will reach $5 within the next 3 years? on: February 12, 2018, 03:16:21 AM
Not going to happen.

As mentioned above, a 100 billion supply would mean a market cap of 500 billion, larger than the entire market cap of all crypto at the moment.
I concur. In three years time? Impossible. In many years, maybe?
Also, the fact that Tron plagiarized their whitepaper and plagiarized their code, suggests the dev team aren't exactly up to the job.
Oh? Did they? Can you provide some links there so others can also see it. That's an interesting scoop.

Here's a link with screenshots showing their whitepaper is plagiarized: https://hackernoon.com/trons-whitepaper-is-copied-plagiarized-cefce74335ce

And here's a link to a massive GitHub thread showing Tron copy-pasting other projects' coding whilst removing their licenses: https://github.com/tronprotocol/java-tron/issues/25

I'm assuming that most people on this site have some programming experience and how many of you have not copied and pasted code before? Knowing how to alter someone's else's code to suit your needs is an art. Why re-invent the wheel?  I've grabbed many a class and function written by someone else and used it as my own. Sometimes I give credit and sometimes I don't.

I'm not going to give up on this project yet. In fact, I plan on investing about $100 on many, many different projects and I believe that some of them are going to pay off big and the net result will be a big profit even considering the many bad investments that I might participate in.

So you see a company steal someone else's code, remove their license from it, pass it off as their own and profit from it, and you don't think that's shady enough to question your investment?

Crypto needs an extended bear market to flush trash coins and naive investors out of the market.

Remember the grand thief of all time, Mark Zuckerberg, how did that work out for him?

Oh, and this is an after-thought, let's not forget about the biggest plagiarizer of all time: Mark Zuckerberg! I think that worked out OK for him.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who believes Tron will reach $5 within the next 3 years? on: February 12, 2018, 01:50:39 AM
5 usd = 500B marketcap (100b is total supply). Im pretty sure this is inpossible.
Bitcoin's highest market cap was about 314 billion so far. However, I do think $5 for Tron is very ambitious but not impossible.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Who believes Tron will reach $5 within the next 3 years? on: February 12, 2018, 01:03:43 AM
I've been cramming like crazy to come up to speed in the world of cryptocurrencies and I believe that Tron is going to be a big winner. I think it has the potential to reach $5 based on a growing market cap for cyrpto currencies and their plans for their ecosystem.

They claim:
  • To allow users to freely store and or publish and (most importantly) always own their data
  • This will be done a de-centralized environment going head-to-head and undercutting the big boys like Google Play and Apple's app store.
  • They are currently running on the Ethereum backbone but will have their own unique ecosystem in the near future.

I believe $5 is possible.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Daedalus sync time on: February 10, 2018, 07:39:20 PM
I've been waiting for Daedalus for over 2 hours and it is only 6.19% synchronized--WTF! I hope this has no correlation with the efficacy of Cardano. I'm hoping that this is just a problem with the wallet.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are there any good cryptocurrency magazines or websites? on: February 09, 2018, 12:39:19 PM
In the regular stock market there are magazines like Barron's and Money that give out pretty good advice and I was wondering are there any equivalent magazines or websites that do the same for the cryptocurrency market?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to buy Ripple (for Newbies) on: February 09, 2018, 12:55:43 AM
Hi guys, I'm a newbie and I spent most of today trying to figure out how to buy Ripple. I found a great article at CNBC and I figured that this would be a good source for others who want to buy Ripple, but don't know how. I now own Bitcoins, Ethereum and Ripple! I have these cryptos stored on my Ledger Nano S.

I tried to post the link, but I guess the moderator or an automated process removed it. Anyway, do a Google search for, "How to buy ripple, one of the hottest bitcoin competitors". Use quotation marks and you can find the article.

Cheers,
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best Ripple exchange and wallet???? on: January 30, 2018, 03:09:12 PM
I'm thinking that Ripple might be a good investment and was wondering which exchange and desktop wallet do you all recommend?

Thanks,
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Is there a comprehensive list of crypto startups? on: January 29, 2018, 12:28:48 PM
I was wondering if there is an index of crypto startups with a brief description of what problem they are trying to solve and maybe a link to a white paper?

Thanks,
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase to Electrum --Pending time???? on: January 27, 2018, 05:31:17 PM
Update: the money has now appeared in my wallet (Electrum) and it took 2 hours and 10 minutes. When I logged into Coinbase it still says Pending, but they sent me an email saying the transaction was successful so I guess it takes them a while to update their database. I'm mainly posting my thoughts for the benefit of others who find this post in the future.

This seems like it is going to be a very helpful forum!
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase to Electrum --Pending time???? on: January 27, 2018, 04:33:29 PM
Thanks Webtricks and yes you are correct--this was my first transaction. I have been cramming to understand the technology and I do have a fundamental understanding of what is going on. I can easily envision that the community block data is getting larger by the second and given it is encrypted using the SHA-256 encryption algorithm that the decryption process can take time. However, I have also read that the miners will give precedence to larger transactions over the smaller ones. For my first transaction I only sent $200 US dollars to my wallet.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Coinbase to Electrum --Pending time???? on: January 27, 2018, 03:48:20 PM
I downloaded and installed Electrum on my PC. I copied the receiving address to the Windows clipboard. I went to Coinbase and clicked the send button and pasted in the address. I've been waiting for almost an hour and in Coinbase it just says Pending. Is this normal? How long does it usually take?

Thanks
