As stated in the update the deadline has been reached and unless the participants want to go through with only 3BTC the GB is OFF.

I'll wait one week for anyone wanting to keep this up.

Having a degree in electronics sure doesn't hurt, but i agree with amer; more info and elaboration on the facility/facilities you plan on running the mining rigs at (ie: security measures, power outage backup generators, contingency plans etc.) would be helpful in building more interest in this project.

I have a storage room dedicated to running a server at the moment, it is properly cooled and has a single power backup unit. Since it in in my house it has the normal security measures plus there is always someone there. In case of off-line  over 5 min I get an email.

Will anyone else be aiding in running this facility on-site besides yourself when it comes to troubleshooting, managing, etc etc this endeavour?

No, not at them moment I intend in running a machine or two not a whole datacenter. I do have a brother-in-law that works in the IT area and lives nearby that could "save the moment" if needed.

Can you give more of a description on the hosting facility you have and your experience with hosting hardware/uptime/SLA?

Escrow is great for trusting that you can do an exchange with someone, but providing a 24x7x365 high-availability computer service is a whole new ballgame. A degree in electronics is not the right skill set.

I've worked with a hosting company here in Portugal, I was in charge of hardware maintenance of a specific section. In spite of my degree in electronics (which helps a lot imho) I've worked closely with computers in IT and hardware and also some software.

90% level of interest... depends on how this goes.
what do You mean?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 16, 2013, 10:39:48 PM
You still can't see the futility of asking people to invest in a plan without any plan?

Anyone that commits probably does so with about as much conviction as you've put into this, and therefore it's all a waste of time. Perhaps I just can't get my point across clearly, I've been known to have that problem.
I don't need to repeat the fact that... THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL GROUP BUY!
It's only meant to inquire people about the best way to create a group buy and their inclination towards this or that kind of setup.

I see now that you're using a trusted escrow for this, so I stand corrected. Please accept my apologies, and good luck with the GB!

Thank you, I accept your apologies because I deeply appreciate your honesty and humility. I just wish others could be more like you!
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 16, 2013, 01:58:23 PM

Really, because I could have sworn that was you. It's pretty obvious from reading the last few pages.

Good luck with whatever this mess is.

Angry trolling accomplishes nothing...
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 16, 2013, 11:13:18 AM

No one ever send him money. He didn't even ask for it.
He's taking advice to start a groupbuy, this is not a groupbuy yet.

Thank you, at least someone knows what is going on!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 16, 2013, 11:00:44 AM

No, it means there are droves of morons out there who week hand over their money to a guy who just registered last week, without using escrow.

Really?! Please tell em who is doing that so I can get some easy money!
I think the only moron here is you who doesn't have any notion whatsoever of what is happening...

1. People are NOT giving away money
2. In the Case of anyone doing investment I WOULD PERSONALLY REQUIRED AN ESCROW since trust is a priority!
3. This thread is only meant to gather information about what would be a viable investment in the current LTC scenario and who is interested and willing to invest.
4. This thread is not for TROLLS who think they are in any way superior to others and most probably suffer from superiority complex.

What do you mean by "dumb" ?

Anyone else is interested in this investment?

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 09, 2013, 11:08:12 AM
I'm interested in a small share like 0.5 BTC

Great that is great, I see we now have some serious people wanting to invest.

In the next couple of days I'll probably post a Group buy resulting from this poll.

Format should be in 25 shares of 0.1BTC each (serious investors only) = 2.5BTC for the first rig, if the rig is cheaper the rest is returned or invested or goes for shares in the next machine.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC group buy! on: December 09, 2013, 10:11:27 AM
Like I told you in PM. It is not the right time to invest.

The price of BTC is going up after the little crash.

Best thing to do (that's what I am doing but you do what you want) :
Buy BTC (with €) -> Buy LTC (with BTC) at 0.03 -> Sell LTC (for BTC)at 0.04 -> Sell BTC at 1000€/BTC (and above)

That way you can almost double your investment in 2-4 weeks.

When my trade is done I can invest 10-20 BTC so you can do whatever you want.

Do you know about watercooling ? It is very effective if you consider multiple big double GPU like 5 x HD7990 in the same circuit.

If the goal is LTC selling, then the sooner you invest in a rig the more Litecoins you'll have to sell!
Imho investment should be now, don't worry your spot is safe and even if You wanna invest a lot I might do solo rigs just for you!

Water cooling: Yes I do, Haven't used in a professional environment but I have used it in heavy duty gaming equipment. My room is cooled by it self so I'm gonna weigh whether to use regular or water cooling, might be able to reduce costs if plausible.

I'm writting down all options so that I might present them in full and get a decent general opinion on the best option.

Just some ideas that need clarifying before you take peoples' money.  Smiley

Do you have backup power supply, internet etc? Physical security?

Is a share for a time limited or until the machine dies or is voted to sell?

I'd suggest much lower shares, to give people without much coin a way to join in. Perhaps one share 0.01BTC for 1/200th part of each machine. You would probably get some people putting in 0.1BTC or more.

Or price shares in $ so it's clear what is being spent (all in fiat), and patrons can look-up an exchange rate they like.

As you appear to be a relative newcomer, can I suggest you use an escrow account until you have enough to purchase a machine, and have your identity registered

 wow chill!
I do have power backup AND redundancy. This is a server room I'm using. Its located next door to me it has a doorlock and alarm system and its own ac.
I'm gathering peoples opinions so I can build a good rig, when I start the group buy I'll surely add all the details about the rig setup, server room and whatever else you need.

Will sell shares when I start the group buy, probably in € or BTC and Will have escrow.

Everyone,

As for costs/dates/setups etc:

atm I'm thinking core rig is
Motherboard
Asrock X79 Extreme4 (7x PCIe slots)

GPUs
5x VGA ASUS RADEON HD7770 1Gb DDR5 DVI DisplayPort - HD7770
(option to add 2 more)

Other components to be revised

Costs I'd say roughly 2000$ (max 2250$) per machine, initial investment is 1 machine

Dates: All I need is people interested imho ASAP should be the date!
I'm going on holidays so I have a lot of dedicated time to put to the rigging!
(aka NOW)

NOTE the setup is NOT final, It's still a work in progress and subject to changes. . .

No this is wrong. Spending too much for the motherboard. Like I said go for the R9 280. The point is to get more hash for less money.

like I said, not final but the MB is only 180€ and some models of the r9 GO up to 600€
