2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Exchanges and pools wallet management on: January 09, 2014, 01:15:44 PM
Hi community
There is something I have a hard time to understand.. how does the pools and exchange platforms (and even sites like coinbase or blockchain) manage to have several bitcoin addresses for their customers ? I can't believe it's just one instance of bitcoind and a database management of assets per users ?

Thanks Smiley

Tried to go into real trading @ BTCE and had a message 'BTCe returned ad error, retrying' looping
Also tried to go into real trading @MtGox and had this @ launch :
2013-12-22 16:51:20 (INFO):     Using normal settings to monitor the live market
2013-12-22 16:51:20 (INFO):     Profit reporter active on simulated balance
2013-12-22 16:51:20 (DEBUG):    Setup email adviser.
2013-12-22 16:51:20 (DEBUG):    getting balance & fee from Mt. Gox

Putting the 'secret' key seems to trigger this issue ... any idea ?
(API keys have the correct rights setup, I can use them from within my own software)

5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: December 15, 2013, 04:29:15 PM
Hi everyone and thanks for this amazing thread.
I just wanted your opinion on the fact that the data we use for backtesting is 'polluted' by events that will most likely not happen again (bitcoin skyrocketing to > $1000 etc).
In the end backtesting is about the relevancy of the data you use to test your strategy, and I just feel like the data is not relevant to determine what's coming.

I've been playing around with Gekko and it seems that EMAs settings have to be adjusted (inverted ?) at some point ; which is not very natural (be gentle, I'm just a geek playing wall street)

You can estimate your cex.io mining profit using the calculator : https://www.cex.io/calc

I would not recommend buying any mining hardware on ebay before knowing exactly what you are doing.
Otherwise Cloud mining could be an option
