Okay, "possible stupidity" spoiler alert here...
Okay, just thinking... If BtC is adopted big time, and the price shoots through the roof... what would it hurt to maybe cut the block reductions in half and mine 42 million (or maybe just 31.5 million) coins? Would the extra coins hurt the value that much? Is 21 million going to be enough if the whole world adopts the coin? I'm actually more worried about the effect on the blockchain if hundreds of millions of transactions start showing up... Anyway, can somebody give me a clear answer why we shouldn't mine a few more, other than "this is the way Satoshi said it should be"? And yes, I realize that we could go to 16 places past the decimal point...

2.1 X 10 to the 15th power isn't enough? Here is that number 21,000,000,000,000,000 So you are saying that twenty-one quadrillion currency units isn't enough?

if you have to use an exchange, why not bitstamp?
Do you know any reliable Litecoin exchange sites, preferably Litecoin to USD, or Litecoin to Bitcoin?

Okay that is helping, In the folder users>name>AppData>Roaming> Bitcoin
I have a Wallet and it says it's a Gom Media File (.dat) 80KB. Is this the file I save then uninstall everything else and rerun the exe. then put this file in there?
Close Bitcoin-qt (not only to system tray) Make backup of users>name>AppData>Roaming> Bitcoin folder Keep wallet.dat, and delete all other files and sub directories. Run Bitcoin-qt and wait for the blockchain to download again, you should not get stuck again at block 268351 of 272832 Thanks, it's syncing from the beginning now. Hopefully it won't get stuck on that block again.

I am uncertain as to how to do that. I can not find a wallet.dat file. I see wallet.cpp wallet.h walletdb.cpp and walletdb.h.
Could you be very specific on how to do what you say?

I hate to bump my own post, however I did forget to mention I am currently stuck synchronizing with the network , 3 weeks behind. I have had no progress in the past 8 hours I have been trying to sync it.
Restarting doesn't help, I still get the afore mentioned warning, and I am stuck at processed 268351 of 272832.
Again any help would be appreciated.

I have 2 such USB block erupters. After about a month of mining I have only 0.02 bitcoins. I have made money back since I was lucky and got mine for $5 each (and $5 for shipping). You are basically looking at making about $10 a month per block erupter per month, before electricity is considered. Here is a Bitcoin Calculator http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator Since some exchanges use different values for how much they pay for bitcoin, plug that number in for the exchange rate box. Currently it says you will make about $7.16 per month at current difficulty, and $5.75 at the next estimated difficulty.

I have been mining with a couple of USB asic block erupters for about a month now. Nothing serious, yet. However when I decided to update my wallet, as I am close to my first payout from the mining pool I am in, my wallet has a warning on the top of the Overview screen. Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct. You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade. I am using bitcoin-qt 8.5. I tried to download a newer version, however it was also 8.5.
Any help here in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
