1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: antminers for Lapo Lax on: October 26, 2018, 11:43:16 AM
Yeah, I was trying to mine some Lax, hoping it will go to the moon.
But mining with their app (cpu) is not worth the effort anymore, finding blocks is almost impossible now, so I stopped few weeks ago.
Very disappointing that they are not ant proof and the promise of mining with gpu is also not coming true.

When I search the internet their are also some doubts about this coin, development and support seem to have stopped or at minimum levels.
Only when someone complains on forum, then they start reacting, only to tell that their coin is amazing.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / antminers for Lapo Lax on: October 26, 2018, 11:08:02 AM
I saw something very strange regarding the lapo mining.

http://explorer.lax.am/richlist

Two addresses hold over 85% of all Lax and their hashrate and block finding are off the roof.

So do they have figured out a way of mining the Lapo with their antminers ?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CPU mining LAX (lapo) already impossible? on: October 07, 2018, 05:08:09 AM
I hoped to hop on the lapo and mine a few coins.
Since only solo mining with CPU is possible I thought it could be done very easy.
Just install and set the CPU slider and mine., they say.
Unfortunately after few days still no coins mined, although I have a 12core Xeon do the work for me.

Is the difficulty already that high that it is already impossible to mine with CPU?
Or am I missing a setting in the lapo software ?

Well with my 12 core Xeon dedicated hardware server, no luck for me.

Set it to 10 core mining, but after one day still no coin in my wallet.
Firewall fully disabled, also any antivirus is disabled.

What am I doing wrong, I thought it was just the core slider in settings that was needed ?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why all coins are dropping? on: September 12, 2018, 07:16:04 AM
Wow, I wonder if the value of Monero will be worth more then Ethereum next week.

If the drop of Ethereum continues, it will be go below 100$, whereas Monero is pretty stabil around this 100$.

I think a lot of coins will completely die upcoming months, leaving just a few coins left (which may be a good thing).
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What is healthy amount of shares on: February 19, 2018, 09:00:40 AM
He'y all,

In lots of threads, I read all about hashrates and about how to maximize those.

Well, for what I know, its all about the amount of solutions you submit.

We all know that our miner software likes to 'borrow' some shares from us as dev-fee and above that, they have the ability to change the reported hashrate if they want.
Its really very simple to change the reported hashrate submitted to the pool and console, so I think we should not use that as the effectiveness of the software.
Sometimes my hashrate is just fine, but the submitted work keeps behind. Now working with some dev-free software and submitted work increased.

So I would like to know the 'average' amount of shares submitted by each software (with devfee or without devfee) and used GPU.
Because its fluctuates, maybe report the min and max per hour or avg per hour.

For me, I just use 2 GTX 1060, using the 'dev free' claymore 10 on ethermine.

Last day my max was 48 and min was 28, average is about 42 per hour (so 21 per gpu) Graph looks like a sinus, up and down.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cpu miner - processor getting hot on: February 02, 2018, 03:23:36 PM
I would suggest to mine xmr (monero) with your config and use cpu and gpu both together.

With xmr-stak you can configure the amount of cpu cores you want to use.
Set it to 2 or 3 in the cpu.txt

Create a wallet with an exchange or the official monero-gui and use minexmr.com as pool (you can already get payments from 0.01 xmr).
I guess it would take you about a day to reach that amount with the config.

Extra tip, place your laptop in a cold environment like a garage or something, so it will never have issues overheating (also less noise and heat in your house)
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 2.5d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Windows) on: February 02, 2018, 12:30:12 PM
I mined some days with this phoenix and it is giving me a few more hashes per seconds more then ethminer.0.14.0

Amount of solutions found is less, probably because the software is running only for the dev-fee on regular base.

Well because the amount of solutions is what counts, I went back to ethminer.0.14.0, giving me a few less hashes per second, but more solutions due to the non existing dev-fee.

I think that we are currently on the ceiling of squeezing hashes out of the GPU's, so new miners with dev-fee will not contribute this in a positive manner.

Does the -t 3 (-t <cores>) work for you.

Best is to mine on 3/4 of the cores.

Use a good fan else the cpu wil still get hot, even with less cores in use.

Ok, it's very clear now to me.

Thanks for the reply
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Combine GPU Power on: January 31, 2018, 05:07:13 PM
Heey all,

Maybe I have a silly question, I don't know, so forgive me if so.

I have 4 GPU's, 1060's.

For Ether the Hashrate is about 23Mh/s per GPU with Ethminer (genoil), so all oke.

But if I look to the console screen, the output says things like 'GPU 0: Solution found' and 'GPU 2: Solution found'.
So I think all GPU are doing there own calculations, so in fact they act like they are 4 seperate computers with each having a hashrate of 23Mh/s.

I think the efficiency would be much, much better, if the mining software would combine the 4 GPU power together, having a combined (calculation) hashrate of 92Mh/s
This would be good if the difficulty is high and calculations are running faster.

Maybe I'm mistaken and is the mining-software already doing this, but the console says different.
