1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: December 29, 2014, 11:57:05 PM
I could care less about the noise. How many watts are you drawing at 350 freq and what hash rate?
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 power suply on: December 27, 2014, 04:07:13 PM
Hi. I just ordered Antminer S5 from batch 1. Here is the specifications:

Specifications
Hash Rate: 1155 GH/s ±5%
Power Consumption: 590 W (at the wall)
Power Efficiency: 0.51 J/GH (at the wall)
Rated Voltage: 12V
Dimensions: 298 mm x 137 mm x 155 mm
Cooling: 1x 12038 fan
Operating Conditions: 0 °C to 35 °C
Certified By: FCC / CE
Network Connection: Ethernet

And my question is: What power suply should i buy to fully use 2 of these on 1 AC? Im mineing a bit but im still newbie in AC suplying.

Full page about this miner : https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020141222080420665NM851L7d060D

Greetings.

The minimum you'll want is a EVGA 1300 G2 for 2 S5's (pending that Bitmain's specs. are correct), but if you can find a higher wattage PS for the same price range then you might consider going bigger...

Why would he need bigger? It is 590w at the wall only 540w at miner so how do you get 1300w+ from 1080w? I see that will give you some headroom which is nice but other than that no need to go any bigger.

so I have seen like 1 post about using an additional psu to push freq up around 250+. why not more talk about it and w/gh? Just curious. My combined electricity rate including all fees jumped from .11 to .13 and I am pissed but still interested in OC news.

I dont think anyone has since you can still sell S1 for $110 on ebay.
5  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 12 X Antminer S3 on: August 25, 2014, 07:33:35 AM
what batch # is this ?

It does not matter, they are all the same.

Incorrect, my b#1s don't hash the same as my b#5

Really? Hmm, interesting. What is the difference in performance?

My batch 1's dont perform the same as my batch 4's. Batch 4 I can set freq at 225 for one and get 453gh and another I get 500gh. All batch ones lucky if I can get 440gh except one that is set at 262 freq and gets 456gh/s. Later batches perform better that is a fact so show what batch these are and what they hash at!

If you notice there are spikes about half way through every round then it settles at a certain point. I wonder why this is? Anyways Bitmain will have to come down in price since the release date is 2+ diff increases away.

Just updated to the 0811 firmware and there is no longer anything displaying under "Frequency" and the miners are hashing at less than 100gh/s... Any ideas?

(Apologies if this was covered somewhere in this long ass thread)

When you flash uncheck save settings and it will fix the problem. there may be other ways but that is what I did.

After the latest firmware update, one of my chips started showing '-'.

oooooooo ooooooo-
oooooooo oooooooo

It is not even an 'x', which confuses me. Anyone has any idea what this means?

I had that problem and the only way for me to fix it was to power off the unit and then back on. After that it went away.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 14, 2014, 03:18:12 PM
I downloaded the latest firmware and now hash rate is around 100. I noticed on the status page no freq is listed.

In the latest firmware it says "add frequency advanced setting". I can't find any info regarding this and think that is my problem.

I found you need to make sure "keep settings" is not checked and it fixed the problem.

Another update my miner went from hashing at 425 to 450 at 218 freq so this update looks good. (I had B1 S3)

Is your bitmain userid the same as your id here?

I will give it away free to first person that responds and actually has bitmain account. Expires on 8/16

I placed an order for 2X Batch 4 S3s and paid in full... and my order does not show as receiving payment though the tx has confirmed many times and I have checked the address I sent it to and it is the same as in the email.

I have emailed and messaged them about this and no response.

PLEASE RESPOND I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY ORDER!
This often happens, it gets sorted out eventually.

I hope so... I could have ordered from Zoomhash but it is $570 a pop + shipping so... I am hoping I didn't just lose 1.3 BTC ordering direct.

Chill out Bitmain doesn't screw you. They ship fast and will update your order when they can.

Looks like 1 of 3 is a winner:

Just play with each setting and leave it for a few hours these S3s take a while to even out.

you have 25 times more discarded shares than accepted. I am not sure that it means anything, though.

Can someone clarify if that means anything? That's the case for me as well and I'm not even running it overclocked.

Good point. For comparison here are stats on OC S1 I have:

I guess in the end it doesn't matter I have checked and both servers report my total TH as 4.1(same value as adding avg hash rate for each miner)

I have two S3's, received last Friday. One of them hashes at 440GHs at stock speed (218.5), so I'm fine with it; however, the other hashes at 400 GHs at stock. I've been trying different things like putting it on a different psu's like ATX, Dell/HP server, but nothing helped. I'm taking notes on different clock speeds on this one:

Frequency     GHS(avg)      Temps       HW            Watt (Kill-A-Watt)     ASIC Status
----------     ----------     -------     --------     ------------------     ----------------------
250              487.26          41, 41        2             428                         Chain#2, 1 "x" on the far right
237.5           423.55          39, 37       38             367                         All OK
225              422.69          39,36         7             364                         Chain#2, 1 "x" at 2nd position & 1 "-" at 8th position from left
218.75          403.58          40, 38        0             355                         All Ok

After editing the asic-freq file, a reboot command was issued. All readings were take at 30 minute mark. PSU is a Dell Server Power Supply 750W. All 4 PCI-E cables are plugged in, even at stock frequency.

Yes, it took me over 2 hours to finish writing this post.  Grin

I'm setting the frequency at 250, seems to be the sweet spot for this S3.

At what frequency would you run this at? Why?

so you spend 940 usd worth of mining equipment for $16 aday?

Why do you care and why are you even on here. Go away. It will probably get ROI in 3-4 months and thats not including resale value.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 22, 2014, 04:09:42 PM
Should "load balancing" be turned on in the S3 ?
Default has it "off" I think on the S1 it was on.

It was on by default on the S1. You can turn it on if you want. It will give you a more optimal balance between the servers but it will divide work.

Where is this setting? I want to make sure my S1s and S2s have it turned off
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 19, 2014, 03:45:57 PM
My HW errors are almost non-existent no matter what freq I pick but all 3 miners appear to max out in the low 440's. I tried 250mhz and it appeared to be running at 470 but then overnight the avg came down to like 450 so I went back to 218. This is with all 4 PCI-E plugged in so maybe firmware update or some more tinkering can push the numbers up a bit
