1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why would anyone "sell" a money making machine? on: March 07, 2014, 10:56:50 PM
Because these money makers lose value every day.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: February 03, 2014, 02:24:02 PM
Considering buying one of the AntMiners (was going to buy about 10 of them), but it said it's 18 BTC for just one miner. What... ?

18BTC is for 500pcs U1.
3  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE]BTMine v1 Miner 200GH/s BTC 2.4 on: February 02, 2014, 10:29:51 PM

Strangest behaviour is that from a cold start, machines and fans work fine. Problems start once they reach working temperature.

Instead of spinning faster, PWM is slowing the fans down when they get higher temp. (dont know why).
You could try play with target and cutout temp. at higher value to see if that makes any difference.
Or just move the sensor to near intake fan (colder) instead of measuring at the outlet.

5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: January 30, 2014, 12:45:04 AM
Trying to experiment with my overclock settings.  Ant had been OC to 400 before by previous owner.

I can ssh into the ant on both linux & windows (putty), I can login, edit the file but cannot seem to quit and save.

I press esc after editing, w then q.  I then get a message "q not implemented" I am then unable to exit the session and have to close the terminal.

Any suggestions please?

After esc, type :wq

If it is the factory power supplies like mine, they are getting weak on output.  I reduce my frequency to 1300 and this seems to solve the problem.  I am giving up a little speed, but gaining over all.  I am about to order some new upgraded power supplies!

Mtnminer

I've managed to get both of my units hashing at 200Gh/s+, however occasionally the hash rate will drop to 35-40Gh/s without warning with very high HW error rate.  A reboot fixes the problem, but I'm forced to reboot the machines 2-3 times a day (and lose valuable mining time!).   This happens on both miners.

Any thoughts?

Interesting - I've been running at 1500Mhz using 2 Corsair CX750s per box.  If the hash rate drops keep occurring, I may try to take it down to 1400Mhz.  Thanks!

What firmware are you using?
If the latest firmware doesnt solve it use crontab to restart cgminer automatically.

In System -> Schedule Tasks

Copy and paste to last line

0 */4 * * * /etc/init.d/cgminer restart
0 20 * * * /sbin/reboot

This will restart cgminer every 4hr and reboot miner every 20hr.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 28, 2014, 03:06:28 AM
i just received my 5th one and i cant log on to it.  192.168.1.99 is the ip, but i ipscan it and nothing comes up. my other miners are 2.xxx, is the 1.99 the problem?

Is your subnet .1 or .2?

im not sure what you mean but
IP Address: 192.168.2.254
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

this is what i have in

antminer ip 192.168.1.99

all my other ants are 192.168.2.xxx

Did you setup your computer to 192.168.1.xx before connecting to the new antminer?
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 28, 2014, 01:59:15 AM
I am stuck at Applying changes
Loading /etc/config/cgminer

I put 8.8.8.8 in Use custom DNS servers but still nothing Sad

Disable NTP. Saving will hang if the miner cant connect to NTP.
And try ping openwrt.org from diagnostics.

Any ideas what kind is that white flat cable? is it easily replaceable?
Also does the 8 pin extension cable look good enough?

Data cables looks like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lipo-Balance-Extension-Charger-Cable-Lead-8s-JST-XH-8-cell-29-6V-/231066108766?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item35cc9d035e

Except you need a male 2 male. I found them when I google "jst 8pin cable".
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 27, 2014, 11:19:06 PM
The extension cables are for CPU, where the 12V lines are on the same side as the clip and are yellow too, so the polarity was not wrong.
But when I stripped the cable at the end to go into the connector the wires inside looked really thin and flimsy. The markings on the cable says 18AWG and 80 degrees, but I have a 18AWG cable and the wire inside is really think compared to these.

You could just use the connectors and DIY with thicker cables.

One of my machines got problems. It only hash at 5-10 MH/s. The fan only run for a while, after that, it is off and turn on after a while.

The temp2 always 85 degree C.

Is anyone got problems like me? Btminer please give me the solution to fix it.

Shut it off and let it cool down. The fan controller is not working properly on these machines.
Try move the temperature sensor around and see if there is any difference on fan speed.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 24, 2014, 03:50:23 PM
I managed to get it running but something may be wrong...

HW count appears to be extremely high.

Looks normal to me. Look at DH%. HW ~3% is ok.
14  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE]BTMine v1 Miner 200GH/s BTC 2.4 on: January 24, 2014, 01:54:11 PM

i get an error "invalid avalon options for frequency, must be 256 <= 1024" im confused which value is the frequency?

Try this

--avalon-options 115200:16:10:D:1400:55
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 24, 2014, 10:42:58 AM
Ok, so I managed to move on. Now I can connect to settings page. I went to status --- cgminer configuration and inserted pool/worker/password for 2 of them.
When I press save and apply I see action - spinning circle and quote applying changes. That goes on for several minutes:
Applying changes
/etc/config/cgminer

Last time I waited 10 minutes, still no change so I just went to system --- startup and on line where cgminer is I pressed restart - nothing happened.
I tried status---cgminer configuration---save and apply then go to system---startup and start on cgminer line again nothing.
Actually when I try restart cgminer it give me "Bad gateway" message.

Make sure your miner is connected to internet first. Try ping from "Diagnostics".
There's a NTP bug that prevent it from saving.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 23, 2014, 06:53:42 PM
Guys, I want to buy a 2nd fan to put at the front.
Is it a 120mm?

I really like the Arctic F12, but it doesn't come with a 3 pin fan header to 4 pin molex adapter, so can you recommend a cheap fan that does.

Thank you.

Search for "Arctic f12 pwm"  Tongue I have a few of those on my ants connected to 2nd blade pwm.

I have a problem...

http://s28.postimg.org/bexmhe8q3/cgminer.png

That doesn't look good. Did someone have something like that?

Avalon Gen2 settings should be

Avalon chip: 55nm
Chip Freq: 1300
Miners Count: 16 (or 8 if only 1 blade)

"Default settings" is for 1st gen Avalon.

So, has anyone with these btmine units actually gone up to 1600 MHz?  I saw it was mentioned earlier, but I'm not sure it wasn't just suppostion, especially with other similar clones only running 1250 or 1300 MHz.  Right now I'm happy with 1500 MHz running solid for 2 days straight.  No high error rates or temps.  But, if I'm throwing perfectly usable cycles on the floor, well, I'd rather not - comes from my SETI/BOINC/Prime days...  Wink

I have mine OC dynamically (--avalon-auto). Usually stays on 1450.
19  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE]BTMine v1 Miner 200GH/s BTC 2.4 on: January 23, 2014, 02:55:22 AM

This is how i set it up. At the ESP I tried both locations. Are the PCIe's location specific? The CPU goes in well.

You could have shorted something. 8pin EPS and 6pin PCIE doesnt have 12V on the same side.

BTW, my power board doesn't look like yours. You have more connectors on yours  Huh.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 22, 2014, 11:48:32 PM
Why are people buying these? I paid $3800 for my KNC (560GH/sec) in July 2013. If you buy 3 Antminer's which equals the same hashing power that's well over $4800 now and consumes much more power. I don't understand?

Are you saying that your kncminer is for sale? If not, where do you find that price and performance that ships now?
How many BTC would you have if you had bought BTC instead? BTC30-40?
