1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do I verify downloaded electrum using signature files? on: May 04, 2015, 12:46:13 AM
Thank guitarplinker for pointing it out. Got it verified now.
To Abdussamad: I'm have 2 machines, 1 is my main PC running Windows, 1 is Ubuntu server (which is also running a full bitcoin node).
I don't want to install gpg on the Windows machine, So I use Ubuntu.

Here is what I did.
Using the RSA key ID 695506FDfound from the last error, I get Amazing's key by changing the key of the first command.

gpg --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --recv-keys 695506FD
gpg: requesting key 695506FD from hkp server pool.sks-keyservers.net
gpg: key 695506FD: public key "Animazing <animazing@gmail.com>" imported
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg:               imported: 1  (RSA: 1)

gpg --verify electrum-2.1.1.exe.asc electrum-2.1.1.exe
gpg: Signature made Fri 24 Apr 2015 03:52:59 PM MDT using RSA key ID 695506FD
gpg: Good signature from "Animazing <animazing@gmail.com>"
gpg: WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature!

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if someday Bitcoin Foundation votes to remove 21M limitation? on: June 03, 2014, 11:16:59 PM
In theory Bitcoin Foundation can do that if they controls majority of the network.
But if that's the case, all other people will just leave the network.
Bitcoin now becomes worthless, since nobody wants it.

That is the beauty of peer-to-peer network.
Similar thing with the 51% attack, The attacker is the one getting most damage.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rachel Abrams of the New York Times is a complete dumbass on: June 02, 2014, 03:44:39 AM
Hashing is consider a complicated math, since it's super hard to do without computer.
I bet even you cannot do it using hand/paper.
That is just simple way to explain it to average audience.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: When will people feel comfortable using BTC ? on: May 31, 2014, 07:05:41 PM
When there is a solution for a wallet that easy to use/maintain and hard to steal from.
For now I can not recommend any of my friends to save/use bitcoin, because showing them how to secure a wallet and use them properly is a "mission impossible" for non technical users.
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Hashrates and Future Profitability on: May 27, 2014, 06:29:10 PM
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like mining will be a viable investment by the time 2015 rolls around.

You are correct. To keep the network decentralized as much as possible, mining should not be a high profit investment. if it's so, people with a lot of money will control network. That's why the reward is halved every 4 years.
10  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have .5 BTC, what mining hardware should I buy? on: May 25, 2014, 01:36:50 AM
Forget about the mining hardware, you make more money if you invest in "KaChingCoin"
11  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Bounty] BTC,LTC,DOGE, For person who can fix my WiFi on phone on: May 24, 2014, 12:38:51 AM
You should post it somewhere else (like the forum that you download the rom from).
and also you posted in the wrong forum too.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need a change, now. on: May 07, 2014, 11:38:04 PM
First, Your title is a little bit aggressive!

Yes there are a lot of problems with bitcoins,
But the chance for them to happen are way too small, that we don't need to care about them.

13  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Future of earning with my 1.6TH Cointerra on: April 30, 2014, 09:05:10 PM
You get different answers because Bitcoin mining is all about estimation, it is changing all the time.
(Difficulty changes exactly every 2016 blocks, but nobody knows exactly how long does it take to find these blocks)

You should have done more research on Bitcoin before investing it.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you get into bitcoin? on: April 15, 2014, 09:35:47 PM
Newzbin.com shutdowned in 2011!
Some similar sites only accept bitcoins, I remembered it was only $10/coin, but it was too hard to buy one.
So I started to mine just enough to pay for the subscription
I have regretted that I turned off the mining software.

Then last year, When bitcoin price suddenly jumped up to $200/coin.
I started to read more about it, more interested ever since.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will lifetime mining shares be a fortune! on: April 13, 2014, 06:17:13 PM
Quote
but on a longer run when difficulty becomes very high where mining completely becomes nonviable option in the neighborhood and only large and corporate organizations could only afford to do mining...

Mining is designed to be less profitable as possible (hint: half reward every 4 years)
This prevents corporate pour money into mining business. As you can see now, there no ASIC hardware on the market is profitable. If you think you will make profit, when bitcoin price is up. Then it's better to buy bitcoin.
16  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: update information: avalon 3G bitcoin miner is ready for putting into market on: April 12, 2014, 01:08:32 AM
If I want to invest in bitcoin, I would buy Bitcoin rather than mining hardware.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Not an Awareness Problem But an Education Problem on: April 08, 2014, 05:01:44 PM
As much as I love Bitcoin, But
Bitcoin's platform is not ready for mass adoption!

If you look at this instruction how to secure your wallet alone
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Securing_your_wallet
This instruction is no way doable for average Joe, who don't know anything about command line.
I can only see mass adoption, until we have hardware bitcoin wallet.

And yesterday, I came across this
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change
I can bet more than 50% of bitcoin users who have paper wallets don't know what "Change" is, how it could be a disaster when using paper wallets.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help to understand my transaction on: April 06, 2014, 10:29:21 PM
Thank a lot DannyHamilton!

It seems Bitcoin still have a long way to go for average users.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help to understand my transaction on: April 06, 2014, 08:40:32 PM
Now I just think this is going to be an issue!
I thought having a backup of my wallet on USB and printing my private keys to a paper is safe
But apparently every time I spent, there is a new private key generated.
So I need to backup this new updated wallet and reprint my list of private keys.

Let's assume I made a paper wallet and transferred 1 BTC to it and gave it to my friend.
Then later, he spent 0.1 BTC on something by using the private key printed on that paper.
Little did he know, his wallet is now empty and useless, since there is 0.9 BTC change had been "refunded" to a different address with different private key.

The question is
Why does the transaction not give the change back to the same output address?
