1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum to Electron Cash is VIEW ONLY MODE on: April 25, 2018, 11:24:21 PM
the thing i need help with (this is on the electrum version as well and its marketed as a benefit)

i need to take my coins of out the cold storage AKA (view only)

if any of you can figure out how i do that, then bam we have it.

that's the issue i am at right now, to clear things up.

thanks for your help everyone.

ok sorry for the delay and thank you guys so much for your responses and time.

yes i'm 100% certain i have the bitcoin cash (BCH), no its not bitcoin gold.

i know the difference between the two, and my issue was trying to retrieve bitcoin cash from my old electrum wallet

i am extremely upset i didn't have more coins in where i'd get more bitcoin cash, (as it was showing the transactions, it kept saying i had received a bunch of bitcoin cash but i ended up not having very much at the very end)

anyways that's another topic and in hindsight.

1. i have electron cash wallet that i imported the master key into and it is VIEW ONLY mode

2. my bitcoin cash address starts with qrlv (it says there is less than one bitcoin, but still a substantial amount)

questions 3-5 to -yes, i am trying to claim them from the fork. i had multiple bitcoins in my wallet i withdrew a bunch as well though, as i didn't know we would receive bitcoin cash for them and yes just checked my balance, i have almost 1 BCH.

DarkAngel.  i am positive it is installed correctly. i didn't install it correctly initially. when i tried it on my other computer copying the master key from my electrum wallet it showed my bitcoin cash balance and all of my transactions, but for some reason it wouldn't show any bitcoin cash when i had initially tried to install it using a different method.

thanks so much guys for all of your help. once we get this you will be rewarded for your time and help.

No I know my seed correctly.

When I used my seed before, it wouldn't show me any Bitcoin Cash, it just showed my transactions without any Bitcoin Cash.

I tried to sweep one of my old electrum export addresses into the Electron Cash wallet, but it wouldn't let me to (or allow me to click next)

I am just a bit confused on how I can use this wallet info in my Electron Cash wallet that is currently in VIEW ONLY mode and get it where I can spend the coins.

All of the things I did by trying to use my seed in the Electron Cash wallet, (which showed my old transactions, just no Bitcoin Cash) didn't seem to work.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing to you. I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Maybe I am over thinking this too much, but it didn't work when I put the seed into the Electron Cash (even though it showed my Electrum BTC transactions, it didn't show any Bitcoin Cash though).

Thanks for your time and help with assisting me and helping me with this. It sounds like you truly know your stuff.

I made a mistake in my initial post. I actually had put the 12 word seed, but it wouldn't work.

I was having a bunch of trouble initially and couldn't get the wallet to show any Bitcoin Cash.

Finally, I used the master key from my electrum wallet and then it showed my transactions.

Do you know if there's any way to try to re-download the Electron Cash wallet and either use the master key or how would you go about getting the Electron Cash wallet so I can send the funds and it isn't VIEW ONLY?

Would you use the master key from the Electron Wallet that is VIEW ONLY, or what are your thoughts?

The other issue I'm having is that I seem to only be able to download the Electron Cash wallet onto one computer without it memorizing all of my old info and just opening. I have some USB sticks I am using and saving it to which helps, but my options are sort of limited on how many attempts I can try (if that makes sense).

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for this being such a convoluted ordeal and posting.

I downloaded the Electron Cash and used my old 12 digit seed to upload my electrum wallet into my Electron Cash.

I finally got it to work, although it says I have the wallet in view only mode after I provided the master key and I cannot send the coins anywhere.

Are any of you familiar with this?

Any help is appreciated, and I would be willing to pay someone for their time if they can help me figure this out.

Thanks.

Hi there. I was a former Electrum wallet user. I downloaded the Electron Cash and used my old 12 digit seed to upload my electrum wallet into my Electron Cash.

Are any of you familiar with this?

thank you guys so much for all of your helpful responses. i am *thinking* that i know what to do, but again am not 100% certain.

the major question i have is if i use one of these platforms such as shapeshift or changelly is it possible someone (such as a hacker or someone that i'm not authorizing could completely wipe out the entire rest of my wallet? it says the max transfer i can do for 1 transaction is only about 40% of what i have in my entire monero wallet.

TLDR

i guess what i'm asking is if someone has any of my wallet information will that potentially compromise my entire wallet?

thanks again for everyone being so helpful.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Turning XMR into BTC Safely ($100 to first helper) on: February 10, 2018, 10:12:50 AM
My question is I have XMR on MyMonero.Com

I am wanting to trade it back into BTC. When I initially was planning on doing it I was planing to use ShapeShift, but decided to research this more because I received the following message and it made me second guess myself so I wanted to check with the experts that know the ins and outs of cryptocurrency more so than myself. The last thing I would want is to get completely wiped out and have someone steal all of my monero that I have just from some stupid mistake.

I have looked for several hours and cannot find any threads that bring this specific thing up, if there are and I missed them, I apologize.

I was initially going to use changelly but just want to wait and do this 100% correctly

If someone would be willing to give me step by step instructions I would be willing to give you a `% portion of my current holdings if all goes well. (which would be at the current time is close to $100) for your time and expertise.

Please, if you aren't known on here, don't try to pull a quick scam on me. I have been reading this forum since 2012.

Thanks so much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. And yes, I am true to my word. I have already lost $500 and that's a whole other story of how complicated I am making things for myself.

Here's the exact message I was getting at shapeshift.

WARNING: If you enter a Monero refund address, DO NOT use an address from an exchange or shared wallet that requires a payment ID. Only use a refund address from a wallet you control, which doesn't require a payment ID.
