1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency - many coin - wow - v1.2 Released on: December 20, 2013, 10:03:03 PM
Many hours read topic
Such greatness
Epic signup on forum
So very first post
WOW

Started mining on 4th day. Havent sold anything yet. Only buy buy buy (and mine)

Have been reading a lot, also comments about FUD and where DOGE will go.

Great thoughts will share I to add to your wisdom to why doge will skyrocket:

- How large is current dollar/euro/yen economy? Many many billions, more then there will be dogecons. If you have 1 million us dollar/euro now, you did well. So 1 million DOGE can be worth 1 dollar each why not? Why relate to bitcoin? Still with 1 mio doge i believe you can be a millionair in us dollars. Why?

- A "something" is worth something because of supply and demand. Basic economics.
Bitcoin was worth less then a dollar, because no-one knew of it. Now more people know of it existence and the price rises. As soon as this awereness starts to spread more, more people want a dogecoin. Mining will become more difficult very rapidly. Coins per hour for me are down from 100k to 1k. Won't be a surprice to see 100 coins per hour in the next few weeks.

- Block-halving. I learned this lesson with another crypto. It had its blockhalfing (1000 coins per block to 500 coins per block). Sold some coins the day before it happend (want paying attention..). Day after blockhalfing, price when from 800 satoshi to 2000. Next day 4500. Its now stable around 2000 again. Omg did i miss out. What you think is going to happen when doge reach 100.000 blocks? Blockhalving. What do you think it will do with the price?

- What makes crypto's different from eachother? As a "noob" I dont care about POW POS WOW etc, I care about how many people use it and if i can use it to make (mini-)payments. I care about the fun-factor: is it fun to spent and to receive? I like to receive euro's and dollars (and doge since a few days)! Smiley So the answer imho is awereness and appeal. That DOGE is hyped is good for awereness and the creates the possibility of becoming more valuable.

- Welcome to the future everyone! It's almost 2014. Back in the 70's "we" let go of the goldstandard. This means your dollar is worth NOTHING (intrinsic), but is based on TRUST. What do you think the digital number on your backaccount is? Any different from a digital number in a doge-wallet? We have the same monetairy fiat currency system for over 40 years now. No fiat currency has ever made it this long. There have been hunderds of fiat currency systems before that all returned to its real value: zero. Thats why its all about trust nowadays, and since 2008, this trust is weakening. This digital coin revolution could be the start of something new. A new monetairy system that is controlled by the people instead of the very wealthy familys of this world. Why sell 1 million doge for some fiat currency that buys you a new ps4/xbox? Ill wait and buy 3 houses for 1 million doge, mark my words. Offtopic: my very best personal advice for you would be to buy gold and silver (real tangible assets = real money), but thats another topic Wink. By the way, a gold/silver webshop in my country now accepts bitcoin Wink.

- People who say this is a hype and that doge will fall down hard, my thoughts are: a hype is good, see above about the awereness/appeal. Does it means it will die after the hype? Don't think so. In my country, still 25% don't know, or heard anything about bitcoin. Imagine doge Smiley. Now doge is turning up on newswebsites and its going viral. Perfect for awereness. The fun-factor makes it that new doge's come in and try it out for them selfs. The more people get to know about, the more people want it. Supply/demand Smiley. What will happen is: supply will dry out (less coins per person) and demand will rise (badly!!).

- Ssst.. dont tell anyone else, because here i'll share my strategy: i wont sell my coins. I will use them for payments as soon as more websites start accepting. To get my friends involved I made a promotion on my facebook, handing out free doge for ppl who download the wallet and create a address that they put in the reply.

So.. it's up to yourself and I. To make this a success, we need awereness and much crazy things going on to let everyone know DOGE is here to stay. To go the moon!

Such promotion
Make own promotion
Much buy doge
Very appeal
So demand
1st stop Moon
Very long journey
WOW doge will travel to other dimension!

Very welcome to future

Going to lock this topic.
At the time that i've created this topic I wasn't able to reply to newbies topics. But at the same time I was able to create this topic.
I think it bugged a bit at that time.

Since I never encountered any other problem.

Going to close this topic.
Thank you all for your help.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How To Use Web Hosting Servers to Mine for bitcoins FAST? on: December 07, 2013, 10:34:02 PM
i can say that CPU mining it's not profitable.
I've tested it with my servers with 2 CPU Xeons 8 cores and I got better hashrate with my workstation based on core i7.

Why don't you try to setup a mining pool with your web servers?

hello,

I've a similar rig and I'm also having some problems with both GPUs. not the same problem as you, but maybe someone can help us both.

Cooler Master HAF XB
Cooler Master V1000 Modulaire - 1000W 80+ GOLD
Intel Pentium G630

With HD 7950 i get ~650KH/s stable with this settings. I think I found the sweet spot without OC (other that cgminer.conf).
With HD 5970 i get with 1st GPU ~210KH/s and with 2nd GPU ~300KH/s

in theory I should be able to get at least 350KH/s per core with HD 5970.

At this moment i get ~1,12MH/s shouldn't I get at least 1,3MH/s with both HD 7950 and HD 5970?

I've tryed many differents combinations of Intensity, memclock, gpuclock and TC. but anything over 790MHz (GPU clock) crashes the driver even with intensity of 13.

With this config I've managed to run the rig for 24h non stop, today I've tested new configs but after 10min HD 5970 goes sick.

Another thing that I find strange it's that both GPUs of HD 5970 don't produce the same hashrate. The 1st core it's always slower that the second.

I've HD5970 in the first PCI 16x and the 7950 in the 2nd PCI 16X.

Did you tried to OC the HD 7950 alone, without the 5970 installed?
are you using cgminer 3.1.0? I had to use the last cgminer that supports scrypt (3.7.2), cgminer 3.1 wouldn't start with everything by default and Intensity 13.
Changed for cgminer 3.7.2 and all went smoothly, just had to add the -T parameter to cgminer.

hope this helped.

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: December 05, 2013, 04:19:03 PM
Even during a possible WW3 bitcoin will still exist by the bias of military networks that could use bitcoin to send payments to troops or guns...
You think that in WW3 we will use a lot of soldiers and currencies will be valid?
You're very much mistaken.

That depends on a lot of factors, starting by "when its going to be the next WW", not wishing it tho.
Currencies are always valid, we can change the type of the currency but we do need to keep paying war costs.
but one thing we can be sure, crypto currencies are here and going to stay alive, then can evolve, mutate but the concept it's always there.
What better then crypto currencies to pay for war costs anonymously .

but that's just my opinion...

Bitcoin can't die. Even if we lose all internet for months.

Yes, Bitcoin can die only if we lose internet forever. But it is post WW3 scenario...

Even during a possible WW3 bitcoin will still exist by the bias of military networks that could use bitcoin to send payments to troops or guns...

Don't forget that you can also mine other Alt-coins.

http://www.coinwarz.com/
and
http://www.coinchoose.com/
are also good resources to help find estimated profitability from alt-coins.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining? on: December 05, 2013, 02:50:13 PM
I think everyone telling you not to mine either has no understanding of how mining works or they are just trolling.

I asked the same questions, ran the numbers, then bought some cheap 5850s... they have more than paid for themselves by this point and also got me a few more GPUs.

Everyone saying "mining is unprofitable" are probably mining right now and don't want you to take all their coins as if they will be able to prevent all new miners from entering the market.

I think you're right.
Before i decided to setup a mining rig, I read a lot about mining and most of the times someone say "it's not profitable". I've asked myself the same question.
I've decided to give it a try with some money that I can afford to "loose" in the worst case scenario. At least I'll never look back and say "What if I..."
I've invested 800€ in a mining rig, been mining since monday, and finally for the 24h stable at 640Kh/s. I'm not rich, yet. But I've "earned" the equivalent of 20€ in 24h.

For the moment I don't change pool, just giving a run.
Next  week going to try multipool like hashcows to see the diference.

At the same time if you want to be even more profitable you can always trade your alt-coins for BTC and BTC for alt-coins.

To resume, I think it's still profitable and going to stay like that for a while.

that's my oppinion.
