If you're technically adept, and have a good hashrate to throw at it, then take a stab at solo mining CSC with either CSC or WDC pools set up as failovers. I got it finished on my Debian Linux mining rig an hour or so ago and already hit my first block. Bonuses: you're only dependent on your local connection, and you get to keep the whole block reward  Smiley

I am technically adept to setup a solo miner... A geek and a techie by life and by trade.  Tongue I've been seriously tempted to do this - but with only one 7970 and the sharp increase in difficulty I've been wondering whether it's still worth it? I've even considered creating a private pool - but don't really want to step on anyone else's toes (and can also see the hard work that these guys put in - I don't know whether I've got the time to dedicate to be honest for that idea!).

I'm hoping santa brings me a shiny new 290 or 290x - so I'm thinking that the solo miner route is the way to go, hopefully difficulty in two weeks time will keep it worth it. Worse case is that I drop back to using a pool. :-)

This will NOT affect payouts whatsoever !!!
Hi ajochems.... Is there any news? Just seen this and my miner's been working and getting shares accepted without problems... Payouts stopped about almost 4 hours ago though.... :-(

I just wanted to thank ajochems - I woke up to your pool being back, and I can see that a nice big payment came into my wallet from your pool overnight. Thanks for the work and effort dude!

URGENT UPDATE~~~  http://casinocoin.coinarmy.com
Ok guys I have figured out what is going on and fixed it for now. We where maxing out our systems because of our Member growth. We have just upgraded to a system that will only support 80 Active minners. This is for now.

Great news Rendering - glad you've got things sorted, know the reasons and are introducing the cap to what your hardware can handle so that things run smoothly. I can only imagine that you've had a stressful few days, thanks for the effort and handwork you've put in for us miners! Smiley

I'm only at 700 KH/s until my PSU arrives, do you think I'd get enough?

With one 7970, this is what I've been pondering too. Looking at CoinWarz.com it's still showing 219 coins per 24 hours for 640Kh/s - so that's just over 4 blocks? There has been a rise in difficulty and I suppose it's the two great unknowns that could affect that further - another influx of mining power causing an increase of difficulty and the luck of the draw in finding blocks...

I'm more than a little frustrated with trying to mine CSC....

On CoinWarz.com it shows as being variably from 50 % to 100% more profitable than mining WDC over the past 2 and a half days.... Whilst that may be true, I've had to switch back to mining WDC for now due to the complete instability of CSC pools/P2Pools.

Unfortunately, at the moment, all the pools and P2Pool nodes I use either keep going down constantly, or just stop paying out - even if shares are bing accepted, WU is good, stales are low, etc. The trouble is that every night I've gone to bed, or during the day I've gone out - everything looks sweet... And then I just stop getting payouts.

At first I thought it was me... But I'm able to mine WDC, SBC and LTC without issue... Even using Cartman's other P2Pool nodes.

Almost every time I've seen issues there have been posts on here, or news banners on sites saying that there are issues with the various pools and P2Pool nodes. There are generally reassurances that all payouts will be okay, miners will rejoin automatically, etc... But unfortunately this hasn't been my experience. Sometimes my one, lonely, miner has automatically reconnected, and sometimes payouts have resumed - others they haven't though.

I've also noticed that switching between nodes - unfortunately - hasn't seemed to keep my payout level. When I do so, I've had to wait an hour or so and then payouts start coming in at a low level, and build... Until the payouts stop generally a few hours later.

Apart from the occasional reboot and to switch my miner manually, I've been attempting to mine CSC pretty constantly for the past 2 and a half days. With my hash rate and difficulty CoinWarz predicted I should generate 747 coins when I looked 2 and a half days ago. 24 hours later it said I should generate around 500 coins, 24 hours later around 340 coins and now 242 coins. So even if I take 500 coins for the first 24 hour period, 340 for the second and then 121 for the last 12 hours - that's a total of 961 CSC. In reality because of Pool issues I've actually received just 286.55 CSC.

As I've put further up this post I've switched back to mining WDC for the moment - this seems to be stable (on several pools or on Cartman's P2Pool node). It is currently around 50% less profitable to mine that CSC according to CoinWarz.com - but the coins generated do match those predicted, and the payouts keep coming so for me I'm finding that WDC is actually 100% more profitable than mining CSC (right at this moment).

Please don't take this the wrong way - I'm not having a go at nor am I criticising any pool operator or P2Pool node operator. I haven't tried every P2Pool node either. I am grateful for the hard work that the pool operators and P2Pool node operators put in to provide us with a service. I'm not accusing anyone of foul play or anything like that... More just sharing my frustration. I understand fully that pool operators and P2Pool node operators are probably just as frustrated as me as this will affect them also - likely more so! Their miners are likely to be affected, and if we're not mining on their pools successfully then they're not getting fees.

I'm really hoping that you guys can get everything nice and stable though - I really do want to mine CSC again! I don't know if there's much I can do to help any of you, but if there is then please let me know! Thanks again for all of your hard work! :-)

www.megamineros.com/CSC is going down for an hour !!

Due to the ever increasing user count we need to do some maintenance to the server. Especially MySQL is causing very high cpu load. We are going to load balance the MySQL database to reduce the server load and increase webserver speed. Please do not leave our pool as we are mining a lot! Maximum down time estimated at 1 hour or till 20:00 EST. Allthough i hope we are only again sooner. First we will bring down the website, and keep the downtime for the CasinoCoin Deamon as small as posible so you can continu mining.

This will NOT affect payouts whatsoever !!!

Outside of my 9-5, I've been busy restoring core CasinoCoin services the past couple of days. The CasinoCoin forum at http://forum.casinoco.in is now back online and the mass amount of spam has been cleared. I have also cleaned up the CasinoCoin seed servers and restarted the casinocoind daemons -- hopefully this clears up the network connectivity issues some of you have been experiencing when launching the wallet. I've also cleaned up the first post in this thread of broken links and updated mining pool information. If I missed anything, let me know and I'll get it updated.

Finally, I'm working through reading and replying back to PMs and posts within this thread. Since some of these messages are serious in tone, I'd like to take the appropriate time to address some of these questions, comments and concerns. I was very stoked to see the number of people that messaged me volunteering their services towards helping out CasinoCoin. I will be dedicating some time tomorrow to reply back to these messages. Til then, you guys take care.
It looks like you could use some help with the spam on the forums. Now that bots are there it will be found very easily by article posting bots.

Transcoder - Agree totally with this! If you need any help from a forum perspective let me know. I'm not interested in moderating or anything like that (I can't be doing with all the crap that comes from moderating) - but if you need help or advice from a script / admin perspective then let me know. Tonnes of experience throughout the years and there are ways and means to lock out spammers and bots. Smiley

I'd seriously recommend moving to http://community.casinoco.in or http://forums.casinoco.in or http:/casinoco.in/forums or something similar - but only once you've put in place the relevant plugins and security to put spammers and bots out in the cold. Smiley

As I say - feel free to PM me or otherwise contact me if you want help or advise. (Apologies if you're already on top of this - I don't mean to try and teach you to suck eggs, but am more that willing to throw my hat into the ring to help if it's useful!)  Smiley

Rendering - I use Kaspersky and haven't had the issue (neither on a Mac nor a PC, both with Kaspersky). That said, knowing Internet security suites of all kinds, this is probably being flagged because of the frame that your using for the domain name to display the front end. Are you able to edit your DNS records for the domain name to create an A record / CNAME record for casinocoin.coinarmy.com to point to 162.243.83.199? That should solve it. :-)

Rendering: All okay now... Kept retrying and now connected again.  Grin

gatuso5: Has there been a new announcement on that front? The person representing the CAC coin said further up this thread that CAC was being abandoned and that they'd announce a new coin that wasn't going to create competition. Read the thread for more info.  Tongue

Hey Rendering,

Thanks for your hard work on getting the pool up & stable! Have just come back to the pool, was mining for just over half an hour without issues (I even found a block just before you enabled the bonus)... But then my hash rate dropped for no apparent reason. I then disconnected and can't reconnect using cgminer. I can connect to other pools without issue....

I can log into the website without problems - it's just my miner connecting that I'm having problems with...

Thanks miners78! :-)
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie alert...! on: December 11, 2013, 09:43:01 PM
Just wanted to make my newbie post, say "Hi" and all that gubbins. :-)

Cryptocurrencies fascinate me - I'm a geek and a techie, as well as being rather liberal in my political leaning, so the idea as well as the chance to play, tweak and geek sits well with me!

I have a single 7970 and did a bit of mining of LTC back in April. Didn't really go anywhere, and I stopped as the bottom fell out of it and the heat here in the UK picked up (and the room my miner was in had a high ambient temperature and nothing much I could do with it). The day job and life took over, and I did nothing with it really.

A few weeks ago, as Bitcoin hit the news again, I started looking back into it all... Had a small play of mining LTC, WDC and CSC again, and am hoping that Santa brings me a nice shiny R9 290 or two to play with. :-)

I've been lurking on bitcointalk.org for months... Thought it was about time I joined the throng!
