Please tell me that this goes away!  I am losing my mind waiting to post.  Angry

Not sure if it goes away completely, but am pretty sure the amount of time decreases as you post more and more. It is a tad annoying but protects against spammers  Tongue

I get the idea behind it but it is not fun when you have to go through it. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though! Smiley

made up number

I think they pulled the number out of the air too. Probably trying to stunt the rise of Bitcoin by putting some "Max" value associated with it.

thats why Bitcoin is compeared with gold. If there is something in limited quantity it will be very valuable,
that why bitcoin is invented in his background, i think:D

Not necessary, it must be usefull too, not just limited quantity  !

I agree with both of you. With the limited quantity and usefulness of the Bitcoin protocol, it will easily hit 5 figures in my mind. There are quite a few features of the protocol that just lay dormant waiting to be developed.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do the "lost" Bitcoins go on: December 06, 2013, 01:35:53 AM
I'm guessing there's no way to know how many have been "lost"?
If that's true, then couldn't anyone claim loosing a large number of coins to inflate prices?
The only coins that affect prices are the ones being actively traded (the effective "supply"). Coins that are not in circulation (either in "lost" wallets or just being held) do not really have a significant effect.

Edit: The coins not in circulation don't affect supply (and therefore price) until they are brought back in. Although it's possible that the risk of these coins coming back can decrease prices slightly, I doubt traders are thinking about that fact right now, so its effects are probably negligible.

I guess so, but with there being a finite number of BTC, wouldn't the "value" increase regardless of whether the coins are in circulation or not?

Although, if there's no way prove the actual "loss", then you are right. And, as the prices rise and interest in BitCoin increases, the number of "lost" coins relative to the amount mined should (theoretically) decrease. Thus, reducing their [the "lost" coins] impact on market even further.
I could be completely wrong heh, so please correct me if I am  Tongue
I think in a perfectly efficient market, you're right -- knowing if coins are lost or just being held would affect the price since it impacts overall supply. However, traders right now don't seem to be considering these factors at all; they instead care most about making a profit which results in the huge price rollercoasters that happen each day. Eventually, the lost coins may start to matter -- but not for a while!

I downloaded multi-bit yesterday and purchased my first bitcoins today

I have made a fatal error when I opened multi-but there was a send address of 1cxXpVHyWqpqRSbiaf849NPgaHsoBmnEH that seem to come with the software ?

Upon purchasing 0.4 bit coins i sent them to this address from the site i purchased them from.

It seems I have not used the correct address in the software,

I am assuming i sent multi-bit these coins can you kindly return them to me ?

For what its worth, I had a friend have this same issue with Multibit. We ended up resetting the blockchain/transactions through the tools menu, a few minutes later his coins were there. Figured this may help someone down the road.

Glad to hear you found them! Smiley

what do you think about that?
its temporary market or feture international money?

I think Bitcoin will be around for a long time to come, plus a few other coins that prove they have the chops to stay alive and truly innovate.

What do you guys think about all the new currencies? Is it just a hype, or will they all give value?
I think the more Alt-coins that come, the more Alt-coins will go. At the end there will just be a few coins that will be accepted and used.
But what makes the coins valuable?

I agree that there are many coins out there that are nothing but a scam and are gone in an instant. But on the same token, there are a few out there that have true innovations that could end up with big value. It all comes down to doing your research and joining the community to learn more about a specific coin.
