1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Binance is going to add USD-Crypto pairings. What does this mean for altcoins? on: March 25, 2018, 01:52:38 AM
Binance’s operations has moved to Malta, a friendly island nation in the European Union.

Opening an office on Malta gives Binance several advantages. One of which is that they can start to set up a fiat-to-crypto trading pair, allowing people to purchase crypto directly with USD or the Euro.

But what does this mean for altcoins? Will they finally detach from the swings of Bitcoin?
Will Bitcoin dominance go down? Will more institutions look into altcoins as an investment?
Could we see more places to pay in altcoin?

Yes i would! Bitcoin is money. Why would i prefer to use the real currency instead of it. After all, the fact that it is untraceable don't let the goverment trace it back to know how much i got.I really hope that the whole would start it using it too as a sort of payment. It can fix many problems and it can help the wolrd evolve faster.

but is this another way the government is trying to take all our bitcoin?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox Postpones Sell-off of 166,000 Bitcoin Until September on: March 13, 2018, 03:03:20 AM
Nowadays bitcoin market cap is 155Bln, and was more a few weeks ago
400Mln represents 0.26% of it

It didn't has much impact on the price
That is simple and effective mathematic logic... Wink

not that simple. A sudden influx of 400mln causes many weak hands to fold, which increases the amount. This effect keeps on perpetuating itself, dragging the price down.

bitcoin is know for is high volatility, it is usual for it to do +/- 5% moves in less than one hour. We see this several times in a day

let's say bitcoin is at 9500$ and drop 0.26%, this represent 25$
now bitcoin would be at 9475$
this has almost no effect on the price

0.26% is def not what happened. When it drops 0.26% in less than a second, bots freak out and start selling too. Now you're looking at 2% in a minute, causing weak hands to fold. Now you're looking at 5% gone.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What do you think about JP Morgan Flip-Flopping To The Bullish Side? on: March 12, 2018, 11:44:50 PM
Bitcoin surges above $10,000 as JPMorgan openly praises Bitcoin.

JPMorgan and its CEO, Jamie Dimon, have always had a harsh stance on Bitcoin. Dimon famously even called Bitcoin a fraud. But in a surprising turn of events, JPMorgan has started to back Bitcoin and even advises its clients to purchase Bitcoin ETFs.

JPMorgan had conducted research on cryptocurrencies and published a report on it, titled: “Decrypting Cryptocurrencies: Technology, Applications and Challenges.”

What do you feel about JP Morgan suddenly changing stances? Do you like them better now? Worse? Why?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Are you in support of paying your taxes in Bitcoin? on: March 12, 2018, 11:01:22 PM
Recently, Georgia is trying to pass a bill allowing payment of taxes in Bitcoin.

Bill GA-SB464 ?requires the state revenue commissioner to accept cryptocurrencies for payment of taxes and license fees.?
This allows for people in Georgia to pay their taxes and license fees in cryptocurrencies.

For more info on Georgia's stance, see https://stopthefud.wordpress.com/2018/02/24/georgia-bitcoin-taxes/

But do you think paying your taxes in Bitcoin will be a good thing for Bitcoin? Or is it another way the government is trying to take our Bitcoin?

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. Gox Postpones Sell-off of 166,000 Bitcoin Until September on: March 12, 2018, 10:30:10 PM
Bitcoin’s latest dip has been attributed to Mt. Gox selling off almost 40,000 Bitcoin. Now that the sell off has stopped, Bitcoin is very likely to surge.

Mt. Gox is an infamous cryptocurrency exchange. In 2014, nearly a million Bitcoin was stolen by hackers. As a result, many people who stored their Bitcoin in Mt. Gox lost all of it. This lead to many class-action lawsuits against Mt. Gox from people who wanted their money back.

Because of the lawsuits, Mt. Gox is forced to liquidate a lot of its remaining assets to pay off the lawsuits. The most recent crash in Bitcoin has been attributed to this.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's Memo About A Bitcoin Crackdown Was Created By A Hacker And Is Fake on: February 12, 2018, 12:53:01 AM
the rest  of the world are regulating and accepting china is not so important now ... probably for the best the rest of the world starts getting in on the  action dont want just one place dominating to such and extent.

This is true, we need Bitcoin to not only be dominated by one country.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Controversy- Fact or FUD? on: February 11, 2018, 11:35:00 PM
We've a long history of trying to make a coin fixed to a value of something but miserably failed.
No two things can have a same value as the value is always decided by the market with supply and demand.
What if someone launched another USD token with an infinite supply?

I mean it would take longer to launch another USD token as everyone would be skeptical, but....
This is a huge market opportunity to take advantage of, so if you do it right, you can definitely go somewhere with it.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's Memo About A Bitcoin Crackdown Was Created By A Hacker And Is Fake on: February 11, 2018, 11:27:01 PM
these days unless you're the freaking chinese president himself, it's impossible to know what's true and what isn't. why wouldn't this site be a double or triple fudder?

and even if something is true in principle, people in crypto are inclined to twist everything they can get their hands on to further their own aims. when you throw in the translation angle, or failure of it, then it's a miracle anyone can operate on any of the information out there.

do you think the chinese are purposefully not saying anything to degrade the price of bitcoin?

I like the name of that URL so he created it to stepped down with those fuds online.
It was reported on by the chinese major newspapers, so it should be true.
I want to see that newspaper to see if that's actually a real thing.

Update: Other sites have followed suit, reporting on it.

Interesting article on it: https://stopthefud.wordpress.com/2018/02/04/tether-controversy/

Tether and Bitfinex have been surrounded in controversy. Is it fact? Is it FUD? Find out as we analyse this mystery.
Before digging too deep into the FUD surrounding Tether (USDT), you need to have a basic background of what this cryptocurrency is.

Founded in 2015, Tether was created to be a stable coin and connected to the online exchange Bitfinex, one of the largest exchanges in the world. Tether is meant to mirror the value of the U.S. dollar, allowing you to convert or “tether” USD to the digital currency.... continued on the link.

What do you think? Is it fact? Is it FUD?
