1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT a investment on: December 19, 2013, 03:17:13 PM
Bitcoin is a currency, which also makes it an investment oppourtunity for some.....whole companies are set up to trade Forex and make money off price swings, just as they do with stocks and shares etc.

People saying it speculating or a gamble....that is the definition of an investment....you put your money into something with the hope that you see a return on your investment...no-one is ever 100% sure on an investment, so that makes it a gamble or speculative.

And im sure a lot of people on this forum have made very large returns on their investments over the last couple of years.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Curious Case of Bitcoin & Wall Street on: December 13, 2013, 11:58:16 AM
Although I think that bitcoins will definitely rise I think that 100k is a huge over-estimate. Given the fact there will be so many bitcoins that is an incredible sum of money. It also far surpasses the value of any other form of currency by far that is currently comparable to the dollar. I'd say 5-10k is a more realistic final value but I could be wrong.

What is the total amount of US dollar in circulation including electronic. Divide that by the no. of bitcoin, well I think that will be the case years from now.

1.23 Trillion USD in circulation, divide that by the 12.5 Million Bitcoins currently and you get $98,000 per bitcoin.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One problem with BTC on: December 11, 2013, 09:37:24 PM
Wont it eventually get to the point, where is costs way more in hardware and electricity than it costs to mine 1 BTC, for them to run as a viable business?  Huh

I am curious to know why satoshi decided to live off the grid after making something historic.

Probably as to avoid the huge personal backlash from the Global elite rich bankers and payment proccessing buisnesses CEO's who he could end up bankrupting.

Consider it a lesson learnt......NEVER keep a large amount of value in the wildwest of online wallets....there is a VERY high chance you will loose it.

I guess if you did it once, then you can do it again....unless you invested $60k of your own fiat....then I feel very sorry for you.

So many things have to happen before you can even begin to consider $10 Million per BTC, fistly making it simple enough for the average person to be able to use it safely, for example loosing their money by formatting their PC HDD etc.

Plus having a system where standard fiat is easily convertable into BTC, without charges and banks shutting your account down for dealing with bitcoin based companies.

Many hurdles to overcome before you get anywhere near that sort of level.

Lots of speculative investors, who know little about Bitcoin bar what they have seen on the news and the recent rises....will be panic selling, as they think the "bubble" has burst, when in reality all they have done is allow us to now purchase Bitcoin for cheaper.

News in China will always swing the chart wither way as the currency is in such an infancy, its volatility make it a scary ride for speculative short term traders.
