1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v14.7 (Windows/Linux) on: June 20, 2019, 03:22:44 PM
So many crashes on 14.7.. gpu hangs, freezes etc. 14.5 works ok but crashes some times too. The new version is faster but not stable at all imo. Hope this fixed soon. going back to older version for now.

18.3.4 fixed issues I can now use 10.6 with 46mhs again.. Still can't launch 11.7 just pops up then disappears. How can I get 11.7 to work?

Hey there

There are 2 basic approaches to this.

1: Use the console, (CMD) and cd to the directory containing Claymore's executable, (EthDcrMiner64.exe), (and probably also containing your batch file, because if you're asking this question, is likely you're not so familiar with the console, setting paths etc. Not a criticism at all. MS have worked hard since win95 days to eliminate the user need for the console, and for the most part, have probably succeeded.)
But with the console open, you can then run your batchfile and see the print out of the results, (and the console remains open regardless, unlike executing the batchfile directly from explorer or desktop shortcut for example.)

2: Look at your log file, (it will have all the same info as you see in the console), and a lot more.

General advice on init fails.

Read the Readme!!!.txt file (especially the last sections, troubleshooting advice etc)
Read the History.txt file  (as you mention you're using 10.6. Mr Claymore added a lot since then.)

KISS: (Keep It Simple Stupid),(USN acronym, look that up if you're interested) But if you have a complex system, (rig), (more than 1 GPU), break it down, work with a single GPU until you solve your issue, then build it back up to multi etc.

If you are still stuck, post your batchfile, info on hardware, make/model/qty of GPU, logfile, and issue etc.
""It" doesn't work" for example, is unlikely to encourage people to give up time and braincells to help you.
Be specific, that you don't understand the problem is fine, but without providing detail, it's unlikely anyone else can help you.

As your rig is apparently running on 10.6 but not 11.7, and assuming you change nothing else, this should be a pretty quick and easy problem solve.
Some more detail would help here.
Best of luck.

Foot note, on cd
From the console, (Command prompt, aka cmd etc), type cd (change directory), 1 space, followed by the path to the location of EthDcrMiner64.exe on your system.
BE CAREFUL here, because you mention you have 2 versions of claymore on your rig, so make sure you know which version is where, (and you are really in the 11.7 directory).

e.g.
C:\Windows\System32>cd C:\Program Files\Claymore

Thanks yes I am familiar with console.. Annoying that I gotta use it for 11.7..... What is the advantage of 11.7 over 10.6? Thanks for the help BTW

Hey there, sorry, I'm not suggesting you use the console every time, just one time, so you can read the output.

BUT: If you are saying, for example, your desktop shortcut to your batchfile executes and closes, yet opening a console and executing the batchfile works, claymore starts Mining etc, then that is probably a windows permissions or security settings, thing, or possibly your antivirus related problem.

But essentially, if the console execution is working ok, that proves 99% is ok, os, drivers, batchfile content, claymore, etc etc.
So if you have a shortcut init fail, you can shift focus away from the above.
Cheers

Thanks for your help.. The folder needed to be shared weird but works now.

Latest claymore won't even launch for me with new windows update ughhhhh.. Stupid PC updated only 11.0 working for me and lower hash rates on my vega 64.. Same settings with overdriventool I would get 46 mhs now just 37. Using latest amd drivers. roll back on driver does not change this.  Angry

Some guys are just mean here.. I know i'm a noob on this forums but cmon we gotta help each other out.. I asked if I should mod my bios and not one person answered me. Anyways I went ahead and did it glad I did and don't know why it took me a year lol.. most cards get me around 29-30 even one card does 31mhs... Now one set of cards gets to 31mhs but with tons of errors.. so i lowered clocks. overnight each card got around 30 errors is this bad? If I clock those cards lower I get MHS lowered then before modded.. Should I try another bios on those? Also if somebody could point me to a good modded vbios repository would be awesome thanks.

For my rig I am having a couple thousand errors in a day. I have 6 Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 total hash 185 Mh for solo mining with 800Watt from wall. System never crashes up to 48 hours. I always restarted system before that time, maybe it could run even further. So i think you can overclock your card a little bit further. Use HWinfo64, overclock each card seperately and if there are no huge number of error in couple minutes you can use that values safely.

Thanks.. Why are you solo mining with 6 cards? Thought it's better to do a pool? I have 9 cards and one more on the way.. I'm I doing it wrong? Been mining for about a year now..

Oh, I meant solo for mining only eth, of course i am mining in a pool Smiley

Oh lol

Your system does not need to crash. It can look stable. But you have no idea how much shares you've lost due tu your too overclocked gpus/mem straps. Memory errors indicates, the card is not running comfortable in 100% condition. So you could definatelly have more shares with cards without mem errors. In early days I was alsi running my cards like that and I had no clew what memory errors are. But one day I learned everything needed, optimized my cards, my cards showed lower hashrate, but my overall accepted efective hashrate increased. And that's the point.

I dont think i am losing so much shares. Because my avarage hashrate and reported hashrates are almost identical on nanopool even %1.5 devfee

I switched from Nanopool to Ethermine that X2 difficulty with shares was lowering my profits.. Even with X2 rewards ... I hate Etermines calculator though it's not accurate at all.. Dunno hash rate also seemed higher on Nanopool .. What says this forum whats better?

ok here it is
4 out of 6 stable on the asus b250 mining

45.5MH/s ETH

settings are the same only MEM set to 1140MHz

https://imgur.com/qIb7Upu

if you have the same number VEGA registry folders as you do actual GPUs then the,
trick is NOT to set GPU1 on Ntool at 1140 but leave it on 1100 as its the one that works extra I have found and heats up more, I think its the first one you instal when doing them one by one

trying the fifth and reporting back...

Pfffft I get 45 in my sleep.. I put mem to 1200 and get 48mhs this is on 64 with EK waterblock

I dunno about that.. cause when I get 31mhs(which all my cards can do and more) I get way more shares.. They just keep coming it's crazy.. However I get thousands of errors within 5 min.. I heard that those errors will shorten the lifespan of those cards.. So I dialed back to no errors... So I gotta say that is not the case in my experience.

It is always good if you prepare your own bios for each card (don't forget to save your original bios). Nobody in this forum will teach you how to make your own bios, it is whole internet about it. But basically I don't except any errors on my cards. Some people say few mem errors a day are not a problem. I say, when card is giving even one error, it it not running well and you are meybe missing some shares, but it is just my opinion.

Thank you .. I will mod that card myself then.. Internet helped lol using polaris bios editor and copying straps.. ...

I have another question... One of my rigs has 2 Rx480's with Samsung Memory. They are Asus gaming 8gb they get 27mhs non modded bios.. Is it worth it to mod? Also if it is I mod with ati then use pixel patcher correct? Also could somebody point me to the bios .. I also have some other ones with Hynix thinks it's the nitro ones one does 27 the other 24mhs also should I mod?

Long time lurker first time poster.. today i added a riser to one of my rigs and tried to use my old r9 270 with my 2x rx 480 in same rig.. it detects the 2gb r9270 but it has 0 mhs.. some help please thanks. This is my first time using a riser so maybe i missed a step?

if you are trying to mine ETH 2Gb cards are not enough anymore, you might want to try Ubiq, not sure if you can dual mine.
Let us know

Crap I have someone who wants its for 150 so I will sell and add another rx 580
