1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What should I be mining? on: March 18, 2018, 07:31:17 PM
Do you think that I jumped in at the wrong time and lost alot of money? Cause at this rate it's gonna be over 3 Years to get what I spent to just break ever?

Yes I think you did. If you can return your cards for a refund I would do it. The reason I say this is because by the end of third year those gpus will be dirt cheap. Rebuy when things start looking better and afternoon new gpus release. I like you just bought some gpus to mine with and they are arriving this week. I cancelled those orders today.

Yeah I read that and tried it. Doesn’t work. Is it working for you?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / EWBF log file help? on: February 25, 2018, 06:49:39 PM
Hi,

I posted this in the main topic for EWBF but didn’t get a response. I am trying to get the log file to work but it won’t write the file. I use the flypool.bat file to launch the miner not the config file or miner exe. Is it possible to get this to work from the batch file?

Thank you

Hey I have some questions..new to the game. So I see people listing commands like --log & --pec, etc. So I'm guessing people launch their miner from the .bat file? However when I see how to create a log file or how to launch the api it seems I have to use the miner.exe so that the config file is then used instead of the bat file, correct?

So what's the norm here? Is the bat file being used when I use the miner.exe file or no?

I've always used the bat file and I would like to do so but I cannot get it to create a log file.

Edit: Got api working. Just need to get a log file created and actually log some data!

Thanks. What prompted this was someone stating in a topic else where that there is "much better miners out there now" but that topic you linked states otherwise. Appreciate the link

I am currently using EWBF's miner but curious to know is there a better miner out there I should be using? I'm new to this. I've read the dev for this miner no longer supports it so just doing my homework.

P:S I already know all the fee stuff and peoples POV on the matter. I just want to stick to the functionality and cost to me for using miners and what is my best option for Zcash mining currently.

Thank you Smiley

Gotcha. I’ve read up on overclocking for mining. It seems the videos I’ve ran into suggest dropping power percentage to reduce power consumption which gives you a better cost per sols. However it seems the small decrease in power savings compared to the drop in sols isn’t worth it. Wouldn’t best results be just leave it at stock settings? At the end of the day you want to mine as fast as you can?

I tried this earlier and my efficiency went up a great amount but I question if this is worth losing coins over?

What does "dca them" mean? Never heard that before.

Yeah I've noticed. This 1080 TI I found at a ok price seems to have temp issues so will pass on it. I can wait until April. However I don't see prices of GPU's dropping much unless coin prices drop and stay low for awhile

I'm going to be building a mining rig soon. I'm either going with 6 GPU"s or 3 Ti GPU's (all bases on budget). I'd like to stay around $3,500. I was looking at 1070's as they seem to be the all around go to gpu's but it seems to me that the price of them is so high I may be able to get 1080 TI's cheaper ( 3 of them instead of 6 1070's).

Is there any reason to go with the 1070's over the 1080TI that it's definitely worth spending the extra?
