1  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 17, 2014, 03:48:48 AM
Thank you for all of your quick replies,

We will start to work on the following security implementations:

1. The option to Lock your account to a specific IP

2. Required 2FA for withdrawal / optional for order execution

3. Once 2FA is enabled, you will be required to enter your 2FA to view the private key or to disable 2FA on your account.

Once again thank you for all of your support,

Havelock Investments

Good ideas. But I have lost everything. Too late for me. I knew the risks coming in. But I have just lost $50,000 + even though i had 2FA enabled

I won't bother posting again. You didn't reply to my support email so I will safely assume you aren't going to do anything to help me out.

Time to move on, out of bitcoins. The risk was always obvious. Its only when it hits you in the face your realise how real the risk is.

To repeat, I don't believe I was keylogged. Nothing else has been stolen such as other coins or paypal or bank stuff. No check I have run on my Mac suggest I have keylogging software installed. This was a very professional job from people that knew exactly how havelock worked. Not havelock employees, why would they do that? But hackers very intimate with how havelock worked.

I don't know what to  say now. Its been the worst 48 hrs of my life. I'll leave it at that. Peace.

that is a unlucky thing. I wanted to transfer my derect AM shares to havelock serveral days ago,but I feel havelock is not safe enough ,so I didnt .I think havelock is lazy,it has  been a long time since btct is closed and  havelock  became the only one stock exchange, havelock should do better

why not add  the option to Lock  a specific  withdraw address?  if want to change withdraw address need to wait 24 hours and a confirmed email ,btct had the option and I think it is good.

another problem, when I click "sign in/register" button in Havelock,it sometimes go to "Home ". the layout is bad

A few questions for Havelock:
Is your system based on a compiled language
do you use a strong encryption algorithm to store confidential information on the database
are your servers HDs encrypted
Do you have exclusive access with locks to your servers holding personal and account details
are your backups held in a secure place
Do you check IP login patterns based on geografical location

Questions for the account holder at havelock:
do you type your password every time you login
is you computer used to access your account password protected
do you always check carefully the URL when you login
has your password ever been typed or written in a computer apart from the login prompt
do you often change your password
do you use numbers and case sensitive characters for your password
When you enter your password do you make sure nobody is looking over your shoulder.

If all answers are yes it would be quite hard for anyone to break in any account,  or an inside job by somebody with access to the servers such as havelock employees or cleaners, or people handling the backups or the servers.
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Raw transaction - forgot to include tx costs - now money in limbo on: January 23, 2014, 02:56:05 AM
It's funny.  This performance is still far higher than that of banks, yet the bitching.

Nobody likes uncertainty. The OP was concerned the transaction wouldn't happen and his coins would disappear. Education, education, education.

I would say it is lack of documentation which makes it really hard for ambitious users like me, who want to do all the fancy stuff people talk about at conferences, but who do not have connections. The wiki is not comprehensive at all. for example I did not see the formula for the priority. I would like to get educated on things. But with the documentation as poor as it is, I sometimes feel I'd need to sit on Mike Hearns lap to get the info I need.
Example: For ages everybody is talking about multi-sig, yet the only valuable document is this document of Gavin which is really from the stone ages.

Sry, dont  want to bitch around, but I am a bit disapointed about the accesibility of open-source. How many people are really running bitcoin? Maybe a hundred. I thought it was much more.

In the last 24 hours three pools got 69% of total blocks. Are they leaving to the small pools blocks with zero fee transactions?
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Date for 12.5 BTC per Block - autmn 2015 on: January 23, 2014, 02:51:22 AM
Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-10-17 03:57:01 UTC

someone less lazy than me should make an "ETA observer" thread along the lines of wall observer

Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-10-17 01:47:52 UTC (162 weeks, 5 days, 23 hours, 50 minutes)

...and they should call the thread something like "Date for 12.5 BTC per Block".

Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-10-10 13:13:37 UTC (158 weeks, 6 days, 3 hours)

one week in 22 days
Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-09-07 11:17:53 UTC (136 weeks, 6 days, 12 hours, 30 minutes)
4  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: January 22, 2014, 01:17:48 AM

some speculation here:

I noticed this post in another thread a while back and it made me wonder: (he is talking about Bitmain's U1 miner)

once the software catches up to these sticks they are going to kill.  I am getting a steady 2.0 from each one.

These have to be asic miners  new block erupters.
they are the exact same size as a block eruptor .
they have the same id as a block erupter.
  fried cat  = sushi
first sale of 4000 at 45 btc a case
second sale of 20000 at 33 btc a case
new years eve promo at 31 btc a case
made in china
 a shit load of commonalities
 these sticks rock.

6x the hash at less power and stable.

they will bury the bit fury sticks..   2 gh at .075btc vs  2.5gh at .25btc not much to think about.

Forgive me if someone has already asked this question:

Is Bitmain an offshoot of asicminer that has built upon the investment of asicminer shareholders but is not accountable to asicminer shareholders?  Bitmain's U1 miner looks like it is what should be the second or third generation of Asicminer's USB block erupter.

IF AM were to cease operations, I have faith that friedcat would wind this down in an appropriate manner with appropriate announcements, but RE the "20th" date....?? people need to stop being so immature and impatient as far as I'm concerned. Eveything in bitcoinland is still high risk, just deal with it and take a deep breath if you want to play this game...

IMHO FC is working on a prototype to regain a fair size of the market, hope he announces a bitmain's killer.
5  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin NFC payment / cold storage cards (Demand survey,Preordes,Fundraising) on: January 16, 2014, 08:17:42 PM
This project is quite large but is possible making a few open source volunteers to join in a few specialised teams, the POS can be a standalone terminal or a PC/Laptop with a CC reader connected to the internet, it will also need a gateway to channel data from the internet to the bitcoin network, the ATM depends on the existence of fisical bitcoins which is an unknown.
6  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin NFC payment / cold storage cards (Demand survey,Preordes,Fundraising) on: January 16, 2014, 08:15:25 PM
Food for thought.

""It's technology for the sake of technology or for the sake of pushing the agenda of the companies supporting it, versus solving real people's problems," Marcus said of NFC.
"Instead swiping or using a PIN pad, they're tapping. How is that really better? How is that changing your life? People don't want that," he said. It's not a question of whether people at a payment terminal would prefer to tap or swipe, he said, but a reality that people don't want to go to a payment terminal at all."

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57615080-93/paypal-president-david-marcus-bitcoin-is-good-nfc-is-bad/

I think Marcus has a good point, but he is the wrong person to talk about it because it sounds like he is protecting his job and his company. He could be right when everybody has a smartphone, payments with CC and bitcoins will be made using the 3G network, making POS payments obsolete.

If this project is succesfull Custommers will have the option of queing to swipe their bitcoin card or pay anywhere in the shop with their smartphone. Retailers will have to choose whether they provide both systems or the most cost effective.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [IN STOCK!] {CHRISTMAS SALE !} on: January 14, 2014, 07:48:35 PM
I have 9 of these running in a 10 port hub (el'cheapo off ebay) and running fine
but I have wired the hub to a 5V 30A power supply (also bought off ebay)

Note. I have cut the (red) power wire in the USB cable that connects from the hub to the PC.  just in case it tried to pull power from it if the power supply fails.

neat setup, the tip to power them up ingenious. I put your average hashing power to a calculator and it gives $10USD perday, Are you getting anywhere near that amount per day?
8  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to help me buy something on: December 31, 2013, 08:58:02 PM
Hi cxboy, I was in the antminer GB, if you send me the latest preev rates + £14 parcel force I'll do it. I doubt they'll send to your address, if they do I'll refund you the postage cost.

9  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE] #1 Bitmain Antminer U1 USB Erupter [33 left] on: December 27, 2013, 11:51:14 PM
Since getting BTC is not straightforward first time, I can offer to take UK,US visa/mastercard/PP at 4.9% fee.  Refunds will have to be made in BTC minus fees payed (dont want to risk getting in trouble making bulk refunds with payment processors).

Shipping only to Credit card and PP addresses. Funds will be sent to cxboy bank account within one hour of making the payment, cxboy would have to convert to BTC to make the payment.

too bad my refund is now stuck and i cant. but if you do paypal to btc conversion for 4.9% its interesting...

I'll provide a link to purchase antminer, pick your amount pay PP or CC, as soon as I get the payment I'll wire to cxboy. Need to know the basic fee per unit then add up the 4.9%. Don't know if this will be ok for cxboy though, he needs a UK banc account without restrictions.

cxboy took my payment from PP to buy BTC, then refunded it when BTC went up, I hope it is an error with only my order, otherwise PP will bring their fraud team to have a look at his account.
12  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE] #1 Bitmain Antminer U1 USB Erupter [FULL] on: December 26, 2013, 04:25:38 PM

I notice that in the spreadsheet there is a field for tracking #.

Please don't publish the tracking numbers there publicly; people could potential use this info to try and pickup the package.

Hi

Im planning to write SEND/NOT SEND only on the tracking # field.

Don't worry.

@cunixion: price changes everyday

You refunded my payment, what now?

USD Price changed due to BTC/USD

Amount   Quantity   Bitcoin (BTC)   Paypal (USD)
1 - 10   199                   0.1              80.1
11 - 20   150                   0.09              71.98
21 - 50   100                   0.082      63.88
51             51                    0.07             58.28

I made the payment when 0.1BTC=72.4USD expecting you would exchange the payment to BTC. Are this prices going to change every time BTC/USD change?
