well played sir.... I see what you did there.
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2.5+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: April 01, 2018, 02:51:42 PM
I have corrected all power, ventilation & added a firewall to my 10 miners.  I feel like I have finally isolated the optimal running conditions for my miners.  I am averaging 140 th/s per day and not having any disconnections for past 2 weeks since I get everything straightened out at my colo.  I have been mining now for 3 months too.

My question is a slushpool question.

Slushpool factors affecting rewards:
1) Look in my pool (like you said it's a bonus if it happens, but only negative impact in short term)
2) Pool hash rate (if hash is rising then difficulty, difficulty mining rises as well and causes decline in rewards over time)
3) Total hash rate of btc network (rises as difficulty rises & decreases rewards over time)(ONLY factor which has permanent affet in profitability of hardware)

Outside of these 3 points above, are there any controllable ways for me to maximize pool efficiency in slushpool?  Along with all miners (I suppose) I am looking to understand if there are any other ways I can decrease the "Expected Payout Period" or rest assured I am doing everything that I can based on assumptions above.

Sorry for long thread boys.... ask ?s first than forgiveness afterwards

3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Need firewall help: which ports can I allow to access miners? on: March 23, 2018, 12:18:05 PM
nstalling a firewall. What ports and IPs should be allowed to access the miners?

Assuming you have solid internet connection and your miners are running @ full hash, is there really a formula for maximizing efficiency in slushpool?  I have been using slushpool a little over a month and am wondering if anybody using slushpool follows a formula to determine if their current server in slushpool is maximizing their returns?

Thanks

The main difference is pool fees - 2% at Slush and 0.9% at Kano.  Kano pays 1.1% more per block found.

What are other diff's bt pools?  I know slushpool but not CK pool?

been dealing with slushpool connection drop outs this past week and pretty chronically last 24 hours.

Kano, here me & my 10 miners come!!!

Anybody experiencing connection drop outs with slushpool rn?

I am being juggled by slushpool since 2 am.  Temps on my 10 miners are low 70s, colo not having ISP issues, so I'm believing slushpool is acting a fool rn.

Thanks ya'll (I'm sorry I initially posted this in the wrong forum)

Any miners in Chicagoland area interested in meeting up?

Let me know, I have couple people already and am looking for more people with equivalent headspace and willingness to share ideas and experiences!

9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Miner Overheating on: March 10, 2018, 01:26:26 PM
I am having issues with 1 of my miners.  In the past 2 months this is the second time I've received this cooling error.  I'm contacting Bitmain support but wanted any potential feedback here to see what is going on.

199 & 103 were this mornings temps pushed to me by slushpool.

I don't think there is issue with air distribution or blockage, but I'm going to visit colo today to see the miner itself.

Any input greatly appreciated also.

Interesting article and I see the point being made also.  Doesn't Russia have some monolith miner already built themselves to compete with Bitmain ASIC product or is it still prototype?

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: February 25, 2018, 10:57:02 AM
The following of BTC from Palo Alto to South Africa is what enticed me.  Learning about blockchain and its underlying value is secondary to me.  The feeling of people buying into something greater than them and it having such a potentially profound affect on the world is something I want to be a part of.  When I saw the video of kids @ Stanford that thought Satoshi was gonna show up @ their MeetUp group and the insane crowd and buzz there, I knew something was going on I wanted to b a part of.

To the moon.
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Follow up... question about PDUs amp readings on: February 21, 2018, 09:02:50 PM
!Perfecto!

Thanks.  Makes no sense for me to pay for 10amps+ when not helping me hash faster.  The colo has to figure out ish on their end, bc my miners & psu's are all pulling 7a on 1 rack, but when moved to other racks they say it's reading 10a.  If they can't figure it out, I probably need to move to different place with more expertise and ability to correctly set up the environment.

13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Follow up... question about PDUs amp readings on: February 21, 2018, 07:50:26 PM
Will the miners consumer whatever power is given them?

I asking colo to switch miner set up to 5 & 5 and see if that somehow better distributes the power consumption.

Thanks for input too, always appreciated.

How can I verify if the 4 PSUs are auto switching?
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Follow up... question about PDUs amp readings on: February 21, 2018, 04:14:58 PM
Morning everybody!

My colo setup is 6 miners +  Cisco SG200-26 Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch on same rack and other 4 miners are distributed in 2 different racks.  All are connected to the switch where 6 miners are living.  That is 10 total miners.

When any of miners (14th/s) are plugged into PDU with switch they read 7a, but when they are on other 2 PDUs they are reading 10a or above.

I am not 100% why this is happening, but find it strange whenever any of 10 miners are plugged into PDU where switch is they read 7a, but when moved to other 2 racks the PDUs read 10a or above.

Thanks again gentlemen, always appreciated.

Sage words ccglic.

When I began 3 months ago, the price ranges between Tier 1/2 and other colos was pretty apparent.  The Tier 3/4 hosting facilities only accepted 100 miners or more, and the quotes they gave me DEFINITELY included overhead my chump change operation was not needing or financially feasible.

I hear Canada is nice this time of year?  Cool
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question regarding AS9 14th/s Wattage consumption on: February 20, 2018, 06:20:49 PM
Problem solved.  One of the power supplies did not auto switch over from 120v to 208v on a couple of miners.

Wattage is back down to 1300's now.   Lots of lessons being learned in this initial foray into mining.  I actually am hoping to have 20 up and running by end of summer, so I am taking it all in stride.

Thanks for input also, I appreciate this message board and hope to be able to contribute eventually, versus currently "hitchhiking" .... lol

19  Economy / Service Discussion / Data Center References in Chicago/Naperville/Aurora Area on: February 20, 2018, 01:14:53 PM
Top of the morning Party People,

I was wondering if anybody is successfully employing any colo's around Chicago/Naperville/Aurora area?  I am looking to move 10 miners to a colo around here and was wondering if any members have any places I should use or should stay away from?

Thanks so much and as you were....

Jerry

I believe this is the correct board to post this too...

Thanks a lot.

I will check the temps today and see what is going on.
