1  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: November 17, 2016, 04:55:33 AM
I've updated the 1st post in this thread and am now asking a moderator to lock the thread, since BTCtalk serves no useful purpose outside of trolling.

Updates
June 30th, 2016 - RENT will resume trading once the managers of the Fund pay all outstanding debt currently due to Havelock.

So Havelock gets shafted. Mixed emotions, won't lie...

As of 10/24/2016 I have not received any invoice request from Havelock to make payment or request. My only notification from them that there was a problem was the day they terminated the listing on their website, sent to my personal shareholder account notifying that the asset was frozen on the exchange for non-payment. I have not had contact with them for more than a year (Skype doesn't even show an archived record of the last conversation with them).

The cost associated with doing business on Havelock is comparable to OTCQB, and significantly more than other methods, so I don't see the purpose of continuing a listing there.

The listing is still there.  Please pay them what you owe or at least buy back the shares investors put into your havelock fund.

So what do you think happens after the 2 years is up?

Round 2, Period 8, Day 7 Report - September 26, 2015

Balance Post Divs: BTC 141.61247346

Total Units: 1725

NAV/U: BTC 0.08209418

It appears the 9-26-15 dividend hasn't appeared in my account yet.  Is there an issue?
5  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] Bitcoin Difficulty Derivative (BDD) on: July 30, 2015, 07:05:18 AM
TwentySeven,  what do you think about adding another contract to BDD where buyers bet on B.Mine being undervalued.  How do you think it would play out?
6  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] Bitcoin Difficulty Derivative (BDD) on: July 26, 2015, 11:35:24 PM
Yep I can place an order but it doesn't show up on the bid/ask list.

I'd like to know where the DDOS is coming from.

Shoulda bought a fishing boat.

Silly question:  What happens to the value of exch if the difficulty decreases at the next period?  Shouldn't the value go up?

What about located and regulated in Panama is so hard to understand? Nothing to do with SEC we are regulated by the SMV.  Erik is a US citizen.

Guilt by association. Any exchange that solicits or permits US customers to transact business, which you in turn facilitate, means you're on the hook too, even if you don't think you are.

But what the hell am I doing, debating some virtual "service provider" about how they're about to get the hammer. Go ahead, keep doing what you're doing, I'll laugh at the headlines later.

So in order to do cryptobusiness one will have to expatriate from the U.S.A. and renounce citizenship?  Sounds like a good deal to me.

Wait a minute.. looks like I don't need to expatriate.  Small time guys with less than a total of 10k in foreign bank accounts do not have to file an FBAR aka FINCEN 114.  Over 10k, you have to file a FINCEN 114.  Over 50k you have to comply with FATCA.

As long as you are legit and not selling dope, you should be in good order.
11  Economy / Securities / Re: AMHash1: Cost-Effective Mining Contract on: November 09, 2014, 08:41:15 PM
Why not simply introduce new shares continuously and sell at market price?

Market price much higher.  Who would buy it?
12  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] Crypto Financial (CFIG) Official Thread on: November 09, 2014, 06:42:12 PM
Just wait unitl the SEC comes after these clowns.

That'll rustle some jimmies, for sure.

They're just the middleman, who will deal with all the regulations and 'fun' that the Exchanges seem to have a lacking in. Therefore, allowing the Exchanges to have known compliant customers to interact with, and also decreasing the time it takes to exchange fiat to crypto.
13  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] Bitcoin Difficulty Derivative (BDD) on: September 10, 2014, 12:46:45 PM
The difficulty in mining has gotten so high that small miners like myself have to shut down.  Even at it's current price of .010739, b.mine still is a lot cheaper than cex.io and the dividend is consistent.   In hindsight I should have invested the money I put into the miners into b.exch instead.
14  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] Bitcoin Difficulty Derivative (BDD) on: August 08, 2014, 12:20:38 AM
It's August.  Looks like people are cashing out of bitcoin to pay for school supplies. Same thing happening at the stock markets.

Thanks for the reply. I am running my cluster with a single Bat file and its almost identical to yours except no antminer details as i have BFL hardware. And im not a huge miner anymore. Haven't added hardware in months. 400GH is peanuts now. lol . I have not deleted my bfgminer.conf.

Its stange that i had it happen a week ago, then nothing. Then twice again this weekend.

YES! I have a jalapeno and it's happened to me twice this week. I find my miner heads off to IP 46.28.205.80 .

I wonder if this is some kind of DNS propagation attack.

man you guys are having some bad luck over here.

It's all about to change. I made a new tin foil hat and this one is shaped like a pirate's... Arg!

Harrr!!! I been on this barge for 19 hours and me sees after all this scuttlebut only 2856 pieces of eight.  Haaarrrr!!!

We are due for an ORPHAN...

so we are also due for 5 people declaring something is wrong and they are moving their miners.

and go...

300 gh/s Avalon, a 19 hour block and a BTC reward of 0.00002856!!!  Might as well be an orphan.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elliptic Curve Broken? on: March 31, 2014, 02:39:59 PM
From the Wikipedia page for elliptic curve crypto:

"In 2013, the New York Times revealed that Dual Elliptic Curve Deterministic Random Bit Generation (or Dual_EC_DRBG) had been included as a NIST national standard due to the influence of NSA, which had included a deliberate weakness in the algorithm."

What kind of "weakness"? Bitcoin uses elliptic curve, correct? What could this mean for Bitcoin?

[snip]  The unbelievable thing is that rather than using secp256r1 like nearly all other applications, Bitcoin uses secp256k1 which uses Koblitz curves instead of pseudorandom curves and is still believed to be secure. Now the decision to use secp256k1 instead of secp256r1 was made by Satoshi. It’s a mystery why he chose these parameters instead of the parameters used by everyone else (the core devs even considered changing it!). Dan Brown, Chairman of the Standards for Efficient Cryptography Group, had this to say about it:

I did not know that BitCoin is using secp256k1. Indeed, I am surprised to see anybody use secp256k1 instead of secp256r1.

Just wow! This was either random luck or pure genius on the part of Satoshi. Either way, Bitcoin dodged a huge bullet and now almost seems destined to go on to great things. [/snip]

Just a reminder, ROI is Return On Investment. It does not mean Profit or Break Even. Your Return On Investment can be less than your original investment.

I don't get it. If you're not planning to profit from mining what's the draw? Difficulty would have to do an about face to make your mining equipment even hold value and the makers are pumping out more each day undermining it's value. If you're looking strictly for BTC to go up to get ahead, stop buying mining equipment and start buying BTC.

Asics is disruptive technology.  Scrypt-N based coins such as vert coin are asic resistant so makers can't increase the difficulty so quickly.

wow! is this really your first post since you registered here in the middle of 2011?

Yup... been lurking for awhile ... at the time I signed up... couldn't save enough money to get a miner.  It took a bit of research to get a miner based on my budget.  Now that I got one, I feel I can run with the wolves now.  Personally I like this pool.  All the other pools are so clean, cold and impersonal.  This particular pool has character.
