1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: asictechnologies.com -- Testing if it's a scam or not on: December 15, 2013, 10:42:17 PM

They are a known scam...

It seems every single supplier I can find is either a) a scam, or b) still in development, if I believe everything on this forum. There doesnt seem to be a single one that hasn't been attacked. Ive now got an email back that they will do UK bank transfers, have asked them to issue an invoice with details.

P***d off if I find Ive been working so hard basing sales on someone that might be a scammer Sad I still havnt placed an order. Just lucky I got a large order and asked for escrow..

I did do my dilligence before I started, and yes I did google them but VERY single supplier I can find has a heap of people screaming "scam!" so I figured thats just indication of the bluddy mindedness of some people and contated them myself.. I dont think Im gunna enjoy this Monday...

You may have seen the old asictechnologies site get labeled as a scam, but I'm willing to test that.
I have placed an order with them for a 10GH/s bitcoin miner for $300.
If they respond with tracking information, I will show the proof to everyone that they are legitimate.
If they do not respond within the next ten days with tracking information and/or proof that they are legitimate, I will leave the case open and get my money back.
Not only will I get my money back, I'm going to publicly denounce them on any social network/forum I can find if they don't show me proof of legitimacy.

I think it's only fair that we let them show what they got.
This is a link to their profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=128697
This is their site: http://www.asictechnologies.com/
This is their email: contact@asictechnologies.com
This is their "phone number": (605) 939–7882

Did you have any joy with these guys? Ive been talking (by email) with "Jason" and organising to onsell their stuff here in Australia. Was content with their responses until they wouldn't do escrow on a 9BTC transfer.. Now have some concerns..

You have forgotten the u before username ... your script is different to the one Aexcu gave you...by one letter..

Funny old computers...one letter can really mess things up  Wink
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Are Asictech legit? on: December 15, 2013, 12:30:46 PM
Does anyone know anything about these guys? I was going to be buying from them and have been communicating by email etc, but when I got a custome request for a $14,000 machine, the guy from Asictech said they wouldn't do it as an escrow..

I am not insane enough to send BTC (which is all they accept) without some kind of buyer protection, so this is kind of red flagging these guys for me now but I am cycnical and paranoid..

Dos anyone have any experience with them?

What are you hoping to influence?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are Faucet sites for? on: December 15, 2013, 06:19:40 AM
There are some lovely answers on here, and all describe pretty altruistic agendas behind faucets..

Am I being too cycnical wondering if there is, in fact, something more to them?

Does anyone on here run a faucet site, and if so.. why? (I hope that isnt rude, I really am curious)  Cool

My friend told me about them when they were $90 .. hindsight is really an ugly thing  Cool

[quote/]That's not entirely true, bitcoin the currency can be used side by side with FIAT for example to fight iper inflation.
At the moment is very difficult to buy cryptos and only a fool would spend mined coins seeing the long term trend.
And how would you deal with irreversibility with internet transactions?

Only a fool... so you dont agree that the use and circulation of Bitcoins has anything to do with its rise/fall in value? I know it does with paper moneys, why are Bitcoins different?

Irreversibility is simply a matter of regulation and choice. At some point, those seeking more secure comerce methods will develop methods to send and receive, and receipting systems, and identification systems (Coinbase already uses bank account connections, probably others do too) Those seeking less regulation "cash economy" would simply not use regulated systems. Why is that complex?

Yes I don't agree with the simple fact that BTC is not backed by anybody, it's a speculative "commodity".
And yes, it is complex as I need to trust an unknown 3rd party. It's not like using a Visa, Paypal or Mastercard
[/quote]

I dont know how to respond to the first part of your statement: Yes I don't agree with the simple fact that BTC is not backed by anybody, it's a speculative "commodity". since my statement was original post was that the concept of using it as a commodity is contrary to its purpose as a currency, but as for not being backed by anybody...in any logical trading sense, that's exactly WHY its nuts to use it as a commodity... (isnt it?)

As to your scond sentence...IF..or example..IF there was something like a Coinbase wallet, where I can connect my bank account and this same account can run my mastercard (debit) and if Coinbase had a 100 point verifications system and a separate (static) wallet (oh wait...do they already do it that way??? anyone wiser know?) ..anyway, if they verified my identity the way banks/visa/bankers/governments say so, you would still consider Mastercard/Visa to be safer on the internet? Or (shudder) PayPal?

*random rant (If your crawler scum are reading this PayPal I curse every cent you get from me, you thieving government puppets!) *end rant.

I agree we will always disagree Sir x

Laudering bitcoins can be next, you know to help mixing the coins

Im curious why would anyone need to do that to launder them? just transfer to a few random wallets, take it to an offline wallet and print a paper wallet. Laundering would only make sense if it was also coming back in from somewhere..but I dont know anyone who gives their free bitcoins back

12  Other / Beginners & Help / What are Faucet sites for? on: December 12, 2013, 11:54:00 PM
Ive been writing a guide to free bitcoins and I cant find an explanation for WHY people would run a faucet site. (I know what faucet sites do, and where to find them, just not WHY they are there)

The obvious answer would be advertising, but Id expect most advertisers would want to advertise on more professional looking sites so that doesn't really make sense to me. The pittance paid for just viewing the ads would barely cover the Satoshi they give away.. (I think) and most people getting free bitcoins wont be clicking on the links, so I'm wondering if it is about something else?

I considered it might be about building traffic to a domain name but I cant see how that's useful..finding the one domain name that might actually be valuable to someone selling taps would probably be harder than Bitcoin mining! (I think)

Philanthropic venture to share the love is another possibility but I cant believe there would be thousands of people out there feeling that generous to complete strangers (but maybe Im just a cynic)

Can anyone explain it for me? none of the answers I have found make logical sense.
13  Other / Archival / Re: I sold everything at $158/159 this morning on: December 12, 2013, 11:33:44 PM
From what I think I understand, if peeps are treating Bitcoin as a commodity (like gold etc) then they have missed the whole point of Bitcoins...

Satoshi must be so proud right now, instead of replacing money, we use Bitcoin to make more money.... Doesn't make sense. If we were actually serious about Bitcoin replacing government owned paper moneys, then Bitcoins need to be used, spent, circulated and incorporated into our daily lives, otherwise its just another software program to use to make money. No different to any other "get rich" type software - A very sad outcome for such an amazing concept.

I would be curious to find how many people on this forum are in it to make more money, supporting the centralised banking system, and how money are here to escape the bankers, hoping for something better? Can you realistically see yourself using Bitcoin for your money dealings in the future?

If this attitude becomes the most prevailing (the idea of Bitcoin as a commodity) then Bitcoin as a currency is doomed. A few fat cats and lucky geeks will make a bundle, and the vision of a decentralised currency dies as yet another good idea ruined by our own human greed.. (in my humble newbie opinion!)

After my experience with their customer service today I shouldnt be surprised how dodgy the customers are! They ekpt resonding in the most bizarre fashion..I dont think they read a word of my replies. Found one called quicksales that doesnt charge like ebay...Ebay makes me shudder a bit....
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Threats for selling USBMiners?? on: December 11, 2013, 11:15:09 AM
I am sorry if the original post looks like I am fishing. Im not and Id rather not answeer because I really dont want to get kicked off a forum for selling things my first day..getting kicked off Gumtree sucked enough.

Apparently I can put it in my signature when Im cleared though, and I definitely will (seems everyone else does)

This man from Gumtree is still emailing me.. some people got no lives  Huh
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Threats for selling USBMiners?? on: December 11, 2013, 11:03:13 AM
You might be right. I buy off Gumtree all the time (locally) and never had problems but obviously my limited experience is not market research Smiley Have to see if I can remember my old ebay password lol
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Threats for selling USBMiners?? on: December 11, 2013, 10:53:16 AM

18  Other / Beginners & Help / Threats for selling USBMiners?? on: December 11, 2013, 09:44:17 AM
Hi,

I just started on-selling USBMiners and thought I would list a couple on Gumtree... what a nightmare!! I had a man accuse me of scamming (apparently he cant mke them that cheap??) and them I get my ads deleted and have to PROVE I spoke to the manufacturer and they are a real product.

Have I stepped into something really cutthroat or something?? Hes telling me hes from some internet security tracking mob and now threatening to "track and trace" me.. Is there a dark scary underworld to selling Bitcoin Miners or am I just delightfully lucky to have stumbled across this creep?
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Hello Im new too :) on: December 11, 2013, 09:30:14 AM
Well I am old really, but new here   Roll Eyes

Ive been exploring Bitcoins for a while now, and on a friend suggestion, created some guides for other Bitcoin explorers and made it into a website. Ive met some great people on this Bitcoin journey and made some wonderful connections. I also learned there is a real place for everyone in the Bitcoin community no matter how smart or Techy they are. I still have a lot to learn but Ive found heaps of info on here, and on the Bitcoin.org site.

I dont know if I will ever post again, (I realise I have to post here cos Im new) but Im not much of a chatter.

I do however read EVERYTHING and will support the community when and where I can.

Cheers Bitcoin Explorers!
