-1 last time he flew to BA UK office, the update largely consisted of being told he couldn't say anything because of NDA he had to sign! but plenty of hints of pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. So don't get your hopes up to much!

Yes, that let-down is what caused me to cancel my purchase with Minersource and involvement in the DZ group buy. It was a whole lot of bluster about getting something done, then "be patient," "he's tried from traveling," and then eventually no information came from it. As it turns out I may have not been patient enough since there were changes at BA quite a while after, but I see signs of repetition this time. As someone who has traveled internationally before, I know it can be taxing, but not so much that status updates can't be posted.

I hope you all get your updates this time and bobsag3 is able to provide something positive, or at least informative, here on the forum or (preferably also) in email to patiently waiting customers who need to be reminded every now and then that someone hasn't just run off with their money. That's the best way to keep customers loyal.

My travel to the UK is the single reason you guys now have weekly updates, and actual real information. I speant 2 days arguing and discussing how to change things form here on out, and most of the changes they made between early feb right after the delay was announced, and now, are due to the changes I recommended/forced them to make. Your disparaging comments only show how little you know about the situation. Plenty of information came from it, it just was not spoon fed to the masses.

But I guess info is all yall want, I specifically said I would not be leaving until I have a working unit in my hand, and since my travel is just a whole bunch of bluster I guess the 6k+ I spent out of my own pocket to gather information at my own expense, I might as well go home.

As I said, I was not patient enough. I can only take your word on what happened in the UK because no one has said up until this point that you were our hero. I wish you had been able to sell yourself better on your return and not been forced to keep your mouth shut. A customer directed email or two on your successes from the first trip would have gone miles. I've purchased from Minersource before and after this BA thing. I'm sure this isn't directed specifically against me as I've said several times that I'm a very small potatoes and only ordered a single X1 from you. I'm wishing that you had been more successful, not less. I hope it is different this time, and so far you do seem to be posting quite a bit more than last time. Anyway, I no longer have any skin in this game, so I'm going to stop replying at this point.

Your customers will make or break you. Not everyone is as optimistic and loyal as a lapdog, and those lapdog customers tend to not be very long-lived anyway. BA has made it clear they have thin skin. They want to play favorites with the future discounts. They veil information in jargon. They pretend to be too busy to spend 2 minutes to post an update. That's very childish. I understand it's in line with the average in this infant industry, but there are companies who are raising and will continue to raise that bar.

My last piece of advice: Don't play BA's game - treat all your customers with respect and as much information as you can provide them and you'll enjoy more success than BA ever will. You don't need to like your customers to make money off them, but you do need them.

just pointed 180gh at this pool see how it goes  Grin

any plans for any basic charts that would be a nice feature  Smiley

I read the email notification on this and thought you said 180th and just about flew out of my chair. Smiley

Individual worker data would also be a nice feature.
5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.516 BTC for 180GH/s on: May 08, 2014, 05:32:29 PM
Mine shipped on the 6th and just made it to Alaska Wink Should be here tomorrow (SE US). Seems pretty fast to me after confirmation. I think I have had Prime orders take longer.
My Corsair CM750 just came in too so I should be good. Having seconds thoughts about my PSU buy though. I was thinking I could run two off that, but I'm not sure anymore. I may just order another CM600 for a second Ant.

2x S1 units will run just fine on a Corsair 750w PSU Wink

Thanks for all the input!

Not overclocked I presume?

Not a standard 750w 80 Plus PSU but an 80 Plus Gold (or better) PSU should just barely work for 2x OC S1's

These will run 2 OC'ed without a problem
http://minersource.net/products/dell-750w-psu-slash-adapter

So a CX750M would run two Ants if they weren't OC'd? This is getting really tempting...

I doubt the CX750m would power 2, the Zp750 is a server supply and as such is built much better, and designed to last much longer.

I have a CX750 (non modular) powering 2 S1s for well over a month, no overclock, no problems. It may not last for years, but neither will the S1s profitability.

How fast is shipping from Bitmaintech compared to Ninjatech for Antminer S1 orders?
Just weighing my options as Bitmaintech seems to have the lowest prices sooner.

Thanks!

Ordered 2 S1's on Monday. They'll be here Friday. Ordered an S2 also on Monday. It will be here the following Monday. They ship fast.

Still haven't received any official correspondence from BA concerning any of this. With the first compensation package they pretty much immediately issued a detailed message and updated invoice. For all I know so far, there is no official confirmation that any of this is real.

Like I said before,.. I feel really sorry for anyone who isn't a "forums savvy" person dealing with this situation. I can see where they would be totally freaked out and bombarding BA with mail/tickets.

They post the updates on their webpage and Facebook account too.

Some of us will never understand the aversion to email.

My guess would actually be that the Eligius server itself has been hacked
(or it's connected to a shoddy network)

lol, you really are a boob, aren't you?  <- opinion of a EC-CEH

When all else fails, call people names and throw around credentials. It's much more enlightening than anything technical.

whoever has bought S1 recently will get coupons, which are expected to reach user accounts on Apr 25th and Apr 26th.

Happy Mining  Wink
Hi.

Last buy at  2014-04-08 is recent enough for coupons?

It would be nice to know. I don't think they have said what the cut off is though.
10  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [55 TH] mmpool.org - 1.5% fee split DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mining/tor on: April 25, 2014, 01:54:48 PM
Merge mining is the primary reason people mine this pool.

Yeah, I'm just confused why raskul would imply otherwise. He used to be very much for this pool. I am familiar with the mechanism behind merged mining and know it won't affect luck. There are really only two things other than luck itself that would affect luck. First is a problem with the pool itself - coding, intentional or otherwise. Second is a selfish miner attack - one or more of the bigger miners would be withholding blocks.

On this pool, selfish mining makes no sense. Someone with multiple TH of power is unlikely to waste it on such a small pool. Withholding a block means they don't get paid either. That doesn't mean it isn't or hasn't happened. People do irrational things all the time. That leaves a problem with the pool itself. We've seen this pool solve blocks before, and even with low powered miners, so coding is unlikely the issue. An intentional issue with the pool operator collecting but not reporting or paying out on solved blocks was more of a concern before the "mmpool" account started posting and modifying some things on the pool. That the pool itself is interested in succeeding is a positive sign here. That leaves just a really bad string of luck as the cause.

Removing some of the features of the pool is not going to cause miners to move here. That just makes no sense.

I think you should just get rid of merge mining altogether, it's clearly not beneficial to the pool, i'd rather have consistent 50% CDF and actually see some real returns, than a bunch of shitcoins which are near-worthless.

You are implying that merged mining and awful luck are related? How is that possible?

Any one notice Minersource not selling batch2 any more only the inflated batch1

They aren't refunding all of them with BA, they are reselling them internally. Same with the X-3 R17 group buy. Good for them for turning this to their advantage. There's a customer (sucker) born every minute.

At the risk of derailing this thread again, I'll just say that it is a fallacy to tell yourself or others that you'll donate when you are richer. This is true in life and in the pool. If you are greedy with your current salary, you will be greedy with your future higher salary. Greed knows no limits. Start donating when you are "poor" or it will hurt too much to start when you are "rich".

<end sermon>

Has anyone done a bitcoin refund from minersource? Following the chain it seems like it was traded for fiat so i really don't want to hear the excuse that they will only give me half back what i paid.

I did a BTC refund at Minersource for an X-1. They paid me back in full BTC minus a reasonable transaction fee.
Was it the same amount you paid originally or adjusted for price? Say you paid .41 when prices around 810$ (so around 340$)a coin and they traded it in for fiat after i paid do i get .41 with a refund (currently 201$ usd equivilent) so they make 140$ if i refund or do they give me 330$ worth of bitcoin as the 10$ is an amount for the fiat conversion and transaction fees?

The difference between what I paid in BTC and what I received in BTC was 0.0009. I didn't look too much into the conversion rates because I try to not think about conversion rates when buying/selling miners since it just confuses the only thing that ever should matter: BTC profit. It is quite likely they made some fiat on conversion, but I really don't care. They took a risk doing that and could have lost or won. I'm not a fan of bobsag3 by any measure, but Minersource was completely fair as far as I'm concerned.

16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Trading fee for cex.io exchange no more 0% market? on: April 18, 2014, 07:53:09 PM
It's a very smart move by them. They've already proven that their customers can't do basic math. If you have customers like that, why not take advantage of it?

Anyone buying GHS today at these prices is completely mathematically challenged. On the 25th those FHA contracts will mature, and there is no way 1GHS of hashing will produce the difference in cost between today and then.

0.0094 current GHS price (and rising for some idiotic reason)
0.0083 current FHA price (matures on 25 APR)
------
0.0011 BTC you would need to mine in 1 week to make a 1 GHS buy today more profitable than buying FHA

0.0005044 Calculated BTC you'll mine in a week with 1 GHS (excluding their maintenance fee)

So yeah, they know their customers very well and this will not hurt them.

Seems either hardware testing is going on or just some large miners are starting up. 1.1PH just came online at BTCGuild today. I really wish someone like that would take a look at this pool. Not only would they earn more because of the lower fees, DGM method, and merge mined coins, but getting 100% of the fees for the vast majority of the blocks found would also be a plus for them.

That would be quite the load test for mmpool, but it sure would be nice to blast through a few blocks.

How much BTC/MHS/DAY getting from this merged pool?

Over a long enough time you should expect the same BTC/MHS/DAY rate from all pools minus their fees. The difference with mmpool is that hashrate is currently low enough that you may go days without payment and then get a big payment all at once.
