Stealth addresses are now live on MON mainnet. VTC release will follow once further beta testing has taken place in MON, so please help to test.

Just a quick message to all of you to say the inflation is still under active discussion - we've spent a number of hours today talking about it, and we'll bring you all a further update soon.

...talk among the developers to open up the inflation issue to a vote. Is this still being considered?

Yes, it is being discussed

too bad how those dev guys behave.

If that's how you feel, why don't YOU do some unpaid work on VTC, instead of whining like a bitch?

listen you idiot... i sent them emails with my suggestions. they don't reply, so what shall i do? i am willing to contribute to the success of this coin.

Would those "suggestions" be suggestions for work _other people_ could do?

Also, you certainly didn't send me any emails, and I haven't heard about you emailing anyone else in the dev team.

Just a reminder to please participate in the alpha testing of stealth addresses in MON:

Once testing and validation has taken place, and further fixes and development has been done, SX addresses will be coming to VTC

But some PR is not bad thing.  Smiley

BBrisow - thanks.

iGoodw1n - yes, a big PR initiative is on the way shortly.

we are talking a lot... but WHERE are the devs? I never read anything from them. They barely show up and right now is a crucial time.

I don't think now is any more crucial than any other time (ie. I'm not really that interested in the price, and I don't think that's what the devs should be interested in).

We certainly do show up! A casual read back through the thread will show the extent to which we're all active here, but more importantly we're working on actually implementing new stuff, rather than tending a bitcointalk thread - again, it's a matter of perception, and I understand people want to see us here, but we are plenty active in the thread, and much more active actually doing stuff!

So bassicly you're only discussing sentiment here and not the true value of Vertcoin. If the price is low and Vertcoin starts adjusting block rewards, what would this tell you, Vertcoin can be manipulated with buying en selling. This not want we want, Cryptocurrency is about freedom not about pumping up your BTC wallet.

Hurrah. Someone who gets it. Have a cigar.

vtcpool.co.uk is closing down
Please move your miners away, and withdraw your coins

Due to the huge success of p2pool, the issues encountered during a recent migration of the pool, and in order to spend more time on other projects that benefit VTC, I've taken the decision to close vtcpool.co.uk

In accordance with the earlier posts about the closure, the stratums have now been taken offline. Those of you who mined up until today should ensure your auto-payout settings will withdraw your coins, or make a manual payout request. The website will be taken offline in 24 hours.

You may not care but don't blame me when the diff starts rising while the price is falling.  This think WILL hit market, and when it does we need to be ready.  All this talk about VTC beating ASIC, but "no one cares".  Not very inspiring.

We are ready! We do care!

The closure will take effect at 18:00 UTC on Thursday the 5th of June. The stratums will be put offline a day earlier to ensure miners who mine up until the last day can wait for coin maturity and withdraw.

Please withdraw any VTC you hold in the MPOS pool before the closure. The p2pool node suffered a failure between the last time I checked it and today, so has been offline for mining - the payout scripts continue to run, so will pay out any remaining VTC/MON between now and the closure.

You need pools to be setup?

Yes, there's a bounty at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=629161.20 for pool software

I'll add 20 BBR to make this a 500 BBR bounty.

What does it say about VTC if we choose to change the specifications of the coin whenever prices fall too low for our liking?

Exactly. But I'd also like to point out (again) that the price hasn't fallen - continual investment into VTC has ensured the price has remained stable - people measuring against BTC might as well be measuring VTC price in terms of Lean Hog contracts.

Changing the economics of the system is completely out of the question. You don't change the rules of the game once people have started playing - it's a scam. In addition, it upsets the equilibrium that the market finds, and makes it impossible for price discovery to happen - a blockchain can protect as much money as it has the hashrate to secure, that's one of the reasons that I believe VTC is cheap at $1, and it's also a reason to keep miners well incentivised to secure the blockchain.

Vert price is stable around 1 dollar each ... its btc that is rising

+1

BTC isn't a very suitable yardstick to measure value against. For all you can say against fiat money (which is rather a lot) it does tend, in the short term, to buy a similar amount of real-world value, so it's much more appropriate to measure the value of VTC against a somewhat stable reference like fiat - when you do this, you'll find the purchasing power of VTC hasn't really budged in this "downtrend". Given the large amount of ongoing investment that implies (which other people in the last few posts have put in terms of specific numbers), it's a very positive sign for VTC.
