This project turned out to be one big joke, i feel ashamed that i supported it, GPUHoarder has become a crying child, no shit people are mad after waiting almost a year, live with it, you cant start crying about it when you havent given people what they paied for. Im happy i got rid of my cle 215's, but i guess ill always have my 2 cle101 on the desk reminding me not to buy shit from new starters.

Just my 2 satoshis.

I may buy them from you  what do you have?

Just have 2 cle 101, and a nest x2 card left, already sold the rest.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 26, 2018, 02:19:34 PM
from what i heard, they took a poll/vote as to releasing the hardware without the software, or wait till the software was done and then ship. i never saw that poll but i would rather have the hardware 1st, as then i was able to test fit stuff and install drivers etc. also, if the hardware is in customers hands, they cant be accused of mining on them while delays (real or imagined) happen.

but i do know what you mean. could of been handled better but hey it is what it is. those who wanted refunds got them.

messing with the alpha stuff is fun (to me at least) but yeah, hardware that more or less just sits there and  blinks lights at you while producing nothing isnt the greatest advertisement for a company.

I would 100% have voted yes for such a pool, but the fact that i was not told by email, or their website that there was a pool, and thereby not allowed to put in my vote, again just tells me its too closed.

I love messing with alpha stuff, but when the customers have to beg others for a link to a private discord with all the info they need from the company they bought from, the fun goes away, they could have been open about this and just given us that link manny months ago, I feel like the best i can do now is not open the packaging it will just degrade my posible selling price.

try this link.. i think it will expire in a day though.
https://discord.gg/sh8EMf

Thanks, it doesnt change my mind though, this is way to closed, they should have been fourthcomming and sendt links for that discord on an email to all that had bought from them, when the information we need is there.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 26, 2018, 01:00:11 PM
a joke? hardly. rough patches? sure.

delays and such, they are to be expected. i hope you didnt go into this thinking money was just gonna roll in.

please note, i am not defending squirrel. personally i figured 50/50 on roi in any decent (like a year) time frame. and i am disappointed in the delays, but i factored them in when i ordered. and if i lose money, well thats another factor i took into consideration.

there are folks who have approached me publicly and privately, asking to buy some of my gear, notably the 215+s. im sure someone will contact you if youre selling.

me, im hanging in there. bleeding edge is fine by me, and i dont mind alpha testing.

It is a joke, when there is no public link to get into the dicord where the info you need is, and thats my primary reason for letting this one go, i cant get the info i need.
I would be fine with alpha testing, but looks like its limited to the lucky ones in their secret discord.
I hope youre right that someone else wants them. I have 2 cle 101, 4 cle 215+ and 2 nest 2x cards, and can send tax free within eu, let me know if anyone is intrested.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 26, 2018, 12:28:23 PM
This project has become quite a joke, no software yet, got a bunch of useless hardware, one should think that with all the delays they ahould have finished the software by now.
And like always you got to be on some secret discord that is imposible to get into, to get any information on what is going on.
Im done, if anyone from eu is intrested in my acorns and nest cards send me a message and we find a price.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 19, 2018, 11:05:19 AM
Have anyone gotten their refund yet for the acorns ?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: October 09, 2018, 05:35:25 PM
Do anyone know how you would go in and see your order and edit the recieve address, i had expected to get my stuff in the end of august but moved since.

https://store.squirrelsresearch.com/ Just gives a timeout, and my email is not regged on mineority so its not that they just moved the accounts.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: October 05, 2018, 09:31:07 PM
Hmm im not sure what to do here, tilting to getting my refund, primary because no info were ever given, there was some discord links but they were expired and i dont have all day long to go pursue where the info is, it should have been here.
I know there is good people behind this project but im not sure they are ready for what they are trying todo.

EDIT: No info on website for all the waiting customers, still listing lyrarev2 even though its asiced and is not a selling point anymore, yeah well doesnt look good.

To be honest with you, I past the stage of really expecting to learn anything new, as far as hardware is concerned. I retired in 2017 from a high-tech job and I indeed am mostly interested in earning easy money. I am just investing and trading stocks now and although I will play a bit with Acorn or an FPGA, I do not expect to do any real (programming) work. The fascination with technology is slowly becoming the thing of the past for me. I simply do not have time for it.

To be hornest with you, for me it will most likely also sit on the shelf collecting dust half a year, untill i get the time to write something cool during the winter months, like an java accelerator or soemthing else like that on it.
But i sure hope I will never stop being facinated by new hardware Cheesy
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: September 13, 2018, 09:27:10 AM
They stopped providing any updates in Discord either. There are no updates. As a matter of fact, with the current crypto market, it became irrelevant. Time to accept the reality.

When you say it like that it sounds like you joined crypto in late 2017, just to make some ez money.

The reality is that we will first see a bounce again near the next btc halving i said this for a long time, 1-2 months ago i was in the mineyourbiz discord and ppl was still buying gpu's, and i told them be carefull, you buying gpu's means we didnt hit the bottom yet.

Im still waiting for my acorn but it will most likely never mine anything, but be used as base for learning vhdl. You always buy stuff like this with a second plan, thats why i never been a fan of asics there is only 1 use.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 20, 2018, 08:55:28 AM
Hope someone can explain please..... These do not boost CN v7 (heavy/light etc.) cause of its anti asic modifications? provided that i have an m2 MOBO in the first place, the acorn will support how many GPUs (full 13  AMD?)
Those FPGAs or asics or mining machines, how are they GPU friendly? seeing that the fans/developers are some of those promoting GPU mining (ohgodapeople) These are no accusations or any thing, I'm simply mining CN v7/heavyand atm ridiculously confused, trying to buy some bargain 8gb GPUs but meanwhile, seeing this mainly the -60% power saving changes the game entirely, making eth mining with this thing +13 old school polaris GPUs might as well kill newer nvidia released in hours (mainly because they are spiking low in price and the fact the acorn removes a lot of the power consumption?)

Forgot to add, would it support those 1 to 8 multipliers, cause many have m2 only in their limited gaming desktops.

Here we go again, please read https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/8b8o05/cryptonight_v7_vs_v1_a_nitpick_request_to_use_the/

Many of the posts in this thread illustrate why more companies mine the hardware before they sell it, require bulk orders, provide poor customer service, etc.  I mean really what is the point of providing a product in a transparent manner at a reasonable price?  SQRL is the the perfect example of a company building fpga miners internally that decided to throw a bone to everyone and sell the same hardware at a very small markup.  What did that get them?  A bunch of accusations about scams and fake products, and this was before they even took a cent from anyone!  Fast forward to the first half of August and people are already blowing up support, asking pointless questions about a product that is not past its shipping deadline.

Thats the downside of doing retail sale, then you got to answer stupid questions like "where can I download the miner for the hardware im getting in 1-2 months, bought on a presale" (DOH!!).
Good things takes time, chill forget about it for 10 days and we are almost there Cheesy
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 06, 2018, 11:25:37 AM
Go lookup what the guys behind this project did before, they have a really good history, and I cant imagine they would destroy their name on a scam, david and kristy are NOT your standard nerds, it would make no sense for people with that kind of inteligense to make a scam, there is way more money and pride in making a real product.

Go look at bitmain, you dont make 4 billion yearly profit on a scam, you gotta deliver a product Wink
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 06, 2018, 12:46:10 AM
By the way I dont understand why you would care for cryptonight v1 (monero7), high speed fpga's like the bcu 1525 are mining that at 15 kh/s @ 150W.

If you listen to what the developers are talking the most about its the core intensive coins, like x16r lyrarev2 timetravel etc, thats where you get your roi..
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 05, 2018, 08:44:39 PM
The Acorn device might need its bitstream updating with a new algo, which will be like a firmware upgrade.
No big deal.

Most likely the sqrl miner will include the bitstreams needed, when you boot your rig the fpga will be empty, a bitstream fitting the algo youre mining will be loaded each time the miner starts, so it will include multiple bitstreams.

And yes if the change is just meant to kick of asics again or discourage development, it will be small, but the question is how does the cryptonight comunity feel about this, do they wana fork to get rid of fpga's next time also by choosing a complete other algo?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 05, 2018, 01:14:07 PM
I found out that Monero is to be foked again.  So what will Squirrels do to update the Acorn's.

Im pretty sure their plan is to keep forking every 6 months to prevent asics.
But the changes is pretty small from cryptonight to cryptonight v1, so it was easy for high power fpga's to join in, xilinx bcu 1525 does arround 15 kh/s at 150W.

I actually think  the new monero fork is good news  for Squirrels and the Acorn's as it give the company a chance to show that it can upgrade much quicker then an asic can.

An asic cant adapt, you can change the logic on paper to fit the changes and fab some new chips.

Just compare it on "What to Mine". I am using Flypool, Nanopool and NiceHash and I am getting best gains on NiceHash. I am not keeping any small coins (Only ETH, BTC and ZEC). Ideology has no place when earning money, in my mind.

Youre completely right, the only reason for mining a shitcoin is if its more profitable, and you even with exchange fee can dump it for more good coin.

With 100 rx570's youre looking at arround avg 80 usd/day solo mining, 1% less on a good pool, and 81 usd/day on nicehash, so for arround 1% more profit you take the change to loose a few days to a weeks profit if they get hacked again Cheesy

And if you dont wana hold the BTC they give you but want ETH or ZEC you will loose that little gain in fee's compared to mining the coin directly you wana store.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 05, 2018, 11:22:52 AM
For those of you using nicehash I have just 1 thing to say, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Anyone using a service that got hacked, and pays back its customers months later during a major bear market, deserve to loose their coins Smiley
