I am not having any luck getting this wallet to sync even after  updating the conf file with the node list provided

you gotta keep with the original plan and delete the wallet, any other plan would show a lack of leadership in the coin, keeping them out there would make everyone second guess your judgement on anything related to the coin in the future I feel
