1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anon136's NXT Giveaway Thread (weighted by forum notoriety) on: December 28, 2013, 06:56:00 AM
Hi my address is: 7825842072914643021
I'm pretty new on the forums (just wanted to be honest) but I love the idea of nxtcoin and specifically the color feature - being able to connect value to physical objects. That not only makes accounting easier but helps bridge the digital physical divide. I've been on board with bitcoin for a year and of all the alt coins I've seen, Nxt is the one that I truly believe in and want to be a part of.

Although I do not have a business that deals with bitcoin, I think it is really important everyone was trying to promote bitcoin transactions to also promote a method which I think is effective means of trading in bitcoin during this investment heavy time. If you keep a certain amount of US dollars or any other fiat currency in the pool in your trading account, when you make a bitcoin purchase immediately purchase the same amount of bitcoin by using your pool of fiat currency. This way you promote bitcoin transactions, while also not spending for example 1 bitcoin (700 USD) on an item which then due to the rapidly increasing value of bitcoin overtime ends up costing many times the amount (i.e. 1 bitcoin = 10,000USD in 2015). This gives us the best both both worlds since it is so important that businesses promote transactions.

I agree that many of the alt-coins do not and will not provide any lasting added value to digital currencies. So many of them just seem to be projects that have been made for fun. Since most of these currencies seem to derive their value from bitcoin they can provide a legitimate value in someway since you are trading them and their value against the as the standard. Regardless of what currency it is this inherently adds value to the standard coin. This can be viewed in a way that is similar to International currencies all being measured against US dollar. Bitcoin is the US dollar and the other currencies are like the UK pound this Spanish dollar, or the Papua New Guinea Kina. The more alt currencies there are, the more legitimate bit coin becomes. There is also value in a simple meme as has been proved with Dogecoin. the OP is in my opinion correct in saying that you should be cautious when dealing with some of these alternatives but that does not mean that they do not have inherent value.
