1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: please help, i think my PC / LTC wallet has been compromised on: December 31, 2013, 09:32:41 AM
If you still have coins in your wallet, immediately transfer them to a wallet on a computer you trust.  If you ever believe that a machine you have has been compromised, don't try to fix it,  just backup, wipe and re-install.  Keep an image of your drive if you want to study it later to find out what happened.

In the future, if you want to keep your system safe, install questionable wallets on a virtual machine.  Kubuntu and Ubuntu are free and pretty easy to install with virtualbox.  Compiling a wallet is pretty easy after you have done it a few times.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 wallet to hold all coins? on: December 24, 2013, 08:41:42 PM
Is their a wallet that can carry all the altcoins?

not that I know of, if there is one it has to be a light wallet that does not store all the blockchains locally but on a server, otherwise your HD would be filll up pretty quick with all those blockchains

A service like this would be really nice.  Especially if the creators of a new coin registered their coins with that service before going live with them.  Currently I set up a VM every time I install a wallet for a new coin.  Its not difficult but it uses up more resources then I'd like.

Even if China were to try to totally shut down bitcoin it would just push it underground.  It is an excellent way for the wealthy in China to freely move their wealth around.  All it takes is a smartphone and a few coins to set up a bitcoin selling operation.
