1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 with no Fans on: April 14, 2018, 02:21:14 AM
Willing to hire someone to do it and help us set it up if it can be done. Don't have the money, seeking private funding for it. When I have the money, will gladly pay someone to help us out for sure. Just getting the planning done so it can go into the document that will entice the people with fat stacks Smiley
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / S9 with no Fans on: April 14, 2018, 12:39:15 AM
Hey all, I've googled this and found a few responses, but not one that has a solid answer on this question, so here is my scenario and question.

We are looking at ordering just over 2000 S9s. We want to place them in mineral oil, and we want to remove the fans or at the very least have them not running. I believe the way that the firmware is setup, the unit won't run without fans. I have read that there may be a way to trick the unit into thinking its attached to a fan by rejigging one of the cables that is plugged into and powers the fans, but comments have been made highlighting that the unit will still want to draw the same amount of power, despite not powering the supposed fans.

A really creative answer was to cut the blades of the fan off, but again, still drawing power to spin the fans, so that is not optimal.

What I'm looking at is a way to either:
a) run the S9 without fans and without taking that additional power that the fans draw.
or
b) run the S9 with the fans, but disable them so they don't take the additional power that they draw.

Is this possible and if so how?

Would much appreciate your advice and input on the matter.

Pictures? I have seen a video of it running +50 MHs. It wasn't stable, but this was out of the box!

I agree, staking is the future. But while you can mine, it's still profitable. I have seen P102 hit 50 MHs out the box. Not stably, but around 46 stable mining ETH. This was 3 weeks ago. But you are absolutely correct Ivakar, based on the price compared to the 104-100, it is too expensive. I think given time this will change. P102-100 will be a lot cheaper over time, especially as Casper approaches.

I know, I will definitely be importing them. Probably 3500 of them xD

Dude I know the feeling. I may be able to get a custom built rig of 9 P104-100's, in case, with fans, mobo, cpu, SSD, ram, PSU...pretty much everything except the OS, for $5300 USD. If I can secure that deal, ooh boy!

As some of you know, nVidia released some non-gamer cards specific for miners, I'm really curious who has used them and what you've found.
I'm looking to find out your MHs, the wattage they use, what temperature you run them at and finally, if you have had any issues with them. I guess they aren't as popular and haven't been around as long to work out the average longevity of them, but if people have had some since inception and have run them 24/7 without issues, it would be great to know how long you've been running them for, and if any have died, what caused it, and how long did you get out of it?

For your interest, you could check my very detail thread about P104-100.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2677496.0

I havent had any chance to test P102-100, but I think its hashrate should be above 50 mh/s. Actually, P104-100 and P102-100 or even P106-100 which I had a lot now, they are dedicated GPUs for mining, so I think there's no problem on 24/7 operation. My P106-100 rigs mined almost 6 months without any problem, yeah so far so good, I just need to do cleaning each 1.5 month for my farm, and guarantee the ventilation plan is good. My key settings typically like: Power limit 85%, make sure GPU's temperature is below 65C.

This is amazing and exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. I'm really keen to check out the P102-100. I think based on dollar value, the P104 is the best, but it's usually the way where the P102 is expensive as it's the new kid on the block, as the price goes down, it will be the best card performance for dollar. I'm hoping to get 1.5 years at least out of the cards if I run them at 80% psu load, and running them at 55-60 degrees. Obviously intent on keeping them dustfree and cooled 24/7.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What effects with ETH going POS have on things? on: March 04, 2018, 07:36:33 AM
Calling ETC a shitcoin is a bold claim. I'm sure some ETC fanbois may take offense at that. I don't think it's a shitcoin, but I also don't think it is a great coin.

I think Monero would potentially come out well, but there are some serious competition coins to Monero nowadays, so I don't know for certain.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I haven't really seen much on this, and I think it is a huge topic worthy of discussion.
When Ethereum eventually does go proof of stake, how will this affect firstly the value of Ethereum, secondly the value of all other ERC20 tokens?

Think of how many people are mining Ethereum right now....once that stops, where do they go? What will happen to the value of Ethereum when all the big players get nodes for validation and all the small fries have to wait until the minimum goes down. I believe it was speculated by Vitalik that the minimum amount of ETH you need to hold to be an inaugural staker is 1000. Should be very interesting. Would love to know the winners and losers after this all happens.
I guess if the ethereum will migrating into the POS system and the miners will try to move in another blockchain. I guess ETC should be the strong candidate for this.

This is my thought as well, ETC could be a very good coin to get in on right now, but whose to say. Perhaps some rebellious ETH miners hardfork, there are rumours that this will happen. Still, good to guess what may happen to be able to prepare for the various potential results.

Really just depends on Casper goes. When Ethereum goes proof of stake, it's anyone's guess how that affects the market, not just ETH, but all ERC20 tokens too.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU For mining?? on: March 03, 2018, 08:07:05 AM
Personally, I prefer the 1070ti it can achieve better hashrates on equihash than a 1070 and run at fewer watts which will, in turn, lower electric costs.  I am running my 1070ti at 65% TDP and its pulling 505 sols/s at 103 watts. Compare that to my 1070s that are running at 65% TDP and pulling 480-498 sols/s at 140-150 watts.

Don't forget if you can find them, you can use P104's. The miner equivalent to the 1070. Decent wattage, consistently good MHs. They are uncle's but definitely worthwhile if you manage to secure some!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the safest investment between ETH and NEO? Other low risk coins? on: March 03, 2018, 03:06:50 AM
Dont forget ETH Casper project (proof of stake), that could have lasting implications of the price of Ethereum...and also likely Ethereum Classic, if gpu miners go from ETH to ETC.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which Bot Do you Recommend? on: March 03, 2018, 02:48:52 AM
This is not an advertisement for Profit Trailer, it's something I use with good success, but I am curious to know what kind of daily returns are you guys getting from some of the other bots? Despite selling a couple of coins at a loss, despite some days of Sell only mode, without using Feeder, I have been seeing just over a 1% daily return over the last 34 days.
I started with just under 0.4 btc in the bot and it is currently at just over 0.54 btc today.

If people are using Profit Trailer and are getting even better results, what settings are you guys using to get your returns?
I'm using EMAGAIN and buying when a coin hits -1%. 3 DCA levels (-2.5%/-5%/-10%), with manual DCAs afterwards. Only trade coins with a min volume of 400 btc in 24 hours, and my cheapest coin that I will buy is 0.000005 sat.

I think if you want to Mine ETH then best is RX570 8gb or RX580 8GB
and
If you want to Mine ZCL or Zcash then Go For GTX 1070

specifically using the sapphire branded card. RX570 nitro is pretty much the best card for Eth due to its build, ability to distribute heat to run cooler, over clock higher using less wattage.

Probably going to be the biggest whale of a pump and dump.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Will Kill Cash ? Is this True on: March 02, 2018, 11:56:27 AM
I don't think it will happen in our lifetime. I am happy to be proven wrong, but the more important thing to consider is...IF it DOES, what are you going to do?
IF it DOESN'T, what are you going to do?

Having a plan in place for any scenario is the best way to prepare, and come out in a better situation financially, no matter what happens in the future.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage ur emotions? on: March 02, 2018, 11:37:05 AM
This is such a difficult one for traders.
The psychology behind trading is something I am extremely good at. I have people in my discord community that are excellent charters- technical analysis gurus, people who are amazing at doing fundamental analysis, but it is SO difficult to manage your emotions when trading.

A few of the guys in the discord (myself included) use a bot to trade (profit trailer), and it's one of those things...the bot is supposed to take the emotion out of your trades.

But then the problem is that you check the bot constantly and see where it's at. You fall victim to seeing your bot deep in the red, and wanting to clear it and move on.

In a way it's sort of like playing poker, being able to be in control of your emotions when you have a good hand, or when you're trying to bluff. At the end of the day, the key is to know your entry and exit strategy, have a rule, whatever you're comfortable with. Have a risk plan in place- and then STICK WITH IT! No matter what.

Another important thing is not to second guess your decisions. If you decide to sell at a slight loss and you see the coin go up afterwards, you can't get the "If only I'd have HODLed", or "I shouldn't have sold". That kind of talk will get you in trouble 9 times out of 10. Make a decision you can live with, don't lose sleep over your trades, STICK TO YOUR PLAN and learn from your mistakes. You don't lose if you learn!
