explorer is re-syncing, and indexing - it is a slow process  Sad

I'm synced but I only have one connection.  Do you have more nodes?

try 104.248.144.231

It's a permanent node. currently re syncing after earlier issues. Once it's finished syncing I plan on setting up more nodes.

I haven't been able to sync for a while now.

Can someone who is trusted post a new bootstrap?

We have this site:

https://www.crypto-city.com/index.php/bottlecaps-cap/

The block explorer is up and working.

Maybe try deleting peers.dat and add these ips to your config. My wallet is connected to them and syncing fine

BottleCaps vs BottlecapsCash clarification:

https://twitter.com/bottlecapsio/status/1149093603630710784

That is just wrong.

The original bottlecaps is traded here:

https://freiexchange.com/market/CAP/BTC

There is ZERO buy orders and sell orders at 1 satosi.

The new bottlecaps fork is traded here:

https://www.livecoin.net/en/trading/CAPS_BTC

Last price 8 satoshi.

Lets not forget you only received 1 CAPP for every 10 CAP so really the price is 0.8 sats

Vampirus, can you please create your own thread and stop shilling your bottlecaps plus/cash scam coin in here. Thanks

Tranz hadn't logged in for a couple months but he did not too long ago (I haven't checked in a while).

if he hadn't delegated server key to someone in community you'r doomed

No we aren't stop fear-mongering. We can easily add a new pubkey and setup a new server.

Checkpoint servers are a contentious issue anyway.. some people are for and some against. You'll find the vast majority of coins these days have no checkpoint servers. My best guess is because the devs don't really understand them.

The biggest issue people have is it creates centralization. They are ideal to have with a new coin, However once a coin has aged and has a high difficulty its not such an issue because the coin becomes nearly impossible to attack.

Bottlecaps falls somewhere in the middle. It's difficulty keeps rising and it will only continue to do so to the point where an attack is virtually impossible.

hi folks
right now this shit is completely defenceless.
checkpoint server down + very loose block trust mech == free porn for anyone.
whoever running the server he'd better restart

Can anyone comment on this.  We just had a code upgrade last year to make it more secure.

The last checkpoint in the code is block 500,000 - 0x00000000077c507aec74c0f75045be750ea65833db96ed0db32f2182a25c4e7e

Tranz hasn't updated this in quite a long time. Not even in the last update

OK, it looks like this coin officially doesn't have a Dev anymore.  In fact, if you carefully read the thread over the last year, Tranz never stepped up to be the Dev chief, he just stepped in to do some emergency programming.  Right or wrong?

We need to get a dev to get the deal on altilly, or do a takeover with a core group of people.

So much for tranz doing his many thousands of hours of work to increase the CPU efficiency in exchange for the millions of CAP he took. Personally I would have liked to see those CAPs go to the community so we could use them to fund a dev... anyway.

I nominate you to be on the dev team. just because you might not code doesn't mean you can't market the coin and get in touch with that exchange. I'm happy to make small changes to the code, however I've never really dug too deep into the code to know about making any big changes. Worst case we can always just cut and paste bits from hobonickels  Grin
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: December 31, 2018, 07:43:49 AM
Todays active nodes. (updated)
Code:
addnode=69.118.194.126:7685
addnode=65.102.140.118:7685
addnode=65.102.140.122:7685
addnode=23.233.2.252:7685
addnode=178.128.53.162:7685
addnode=24.234.35.51:7685

Only wallet on default port can work as node.
Add port 7685 to router manually, because in current version removed UPnP.

I added these nodes but it didn't help it to sync.  Can someone upload a bootstrap?
Maybe we can use www.crypto-city.com as an official site for bootstraps?

Just because I want to learn about this more, I'm not running what might be a node so I don't think this applies to me.
But in login page of router and when I go to port forwarding and add it has an IP set up. I mine with some ASICS but do not know much about adding ports and such.  I'm using Windows 7.  In my netgear setup area, it has me determine what Service Name (FTP, HTTP, etc) and a server IP address with the first three numbers filled in. "Port 7685" does not look like and option for that address. 192.168.1. is the type of address I'm using.   I'm probably mixing apples and oranges but that is what my router is first presenting me.

Why did this all change a month or two ago?

To trouble shoot the sync issue, check you have the latest version 2.3 of the wallet.

Then delete everything out of the .BottleCaps folder except wallet.dat and BottleCaps.conf

in BottleCaps.conf edit it to look like below (you will need the rpc setting if you're solo mining)

#rpc
rpcuser=x
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8385

# nodes
addnode=65.102.140.118
addnode=65.102.140.122
addnode=178.128.53.162

Save the file and start the wallet. It should start to sync up now. It can take a few minutes to connect up to the peers at times, so leave it run for a bit.

if you still have any issues let me know and I will get a bootstrap up for you.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: July 19, 2018, 04:23:32 AM
I plan to implement new staking ago to improve the staking efficiency by about 70-80% I also plan to put in other code fixes.    I am toying with the idea of a hard fork to slow the chain down slightly, Bye set it to 3 mins instead of 1.  But not sure about that. This would be similar work to HBN ver 2. About 80-120hrs work depending.

To be honest I wasn't looking for negotiations. My terms are pretty much as laid out. If everyone isn't on board, then no worries. Sounds like there are others who are ready and willing to take over.

Can you elaborate on the staking efficiency. People like Bottlecaps for the return they currently get while staking, if their returns are going to significantly drop I don't think they will be on board with the changes. However if it's to their benefit I think they will be all for it.

This will mean that the CPU will not run at 100%. It will decrease by 70-80%

What I would like to see is a way to reward stakers who stake 24/7 and put those that only open their wallets for a few hours every month or two at a disadvantage. Their is also security risks involved when someone can drop a huge amount of weight on the network at once.

The only way to change this would be to bring the max weight down from 30 days to like 5.  But this also has an effect on CPU usage, as well as it would put a soft limit on the highest difficulty we could reach.  This requires a hard fork.

I'm not so sure on the 3min block either. While it would be good as a way to reduce orphan blocks, I feel their are more negatives to positives. It would help to increase the network weight but it would also reduce the amount staked. The network weight is growing exponentially and will shortly have the same effect as increasing block time anyway, especially if we can encourage more people to mint 24/7.

It would encourage people to keep wallet open more, yes. As the difficulty would go up and it would be much more difficult to simply jump on and take over the chain. I did this for HBN. took it from 30 seconds to 2:30 and we went from .01 staking diff to usually over 5.  It does have effect of lowering the reward, we would be looking at closer to 30-50%  This can be mitigated by a few things.  All of these require hard fork.

I think optimising the efficiency of the CPU is something that we should seriously consider.

However, changes to stake age and block time are perhaps something we should avoid. As mentioned earlier the network weight is growing rapidly which should take care of these issues by itself.

What are your thoughts on removing POW? I don't see much benefit for it any more, except leaving us open to another attack.

Anyway what ever we end up doing I don't think we should take a hard fork decision lightly. Let's not forget the last one took nearly a year to get everything back up and running again.

So did a bit of calculating on the remainder of the CAP fund.  There is 22.5 million left.  Here's my thoughts.

1) Leave 5 million untouched to stake and use for bounties or whatever.
2) Put 2MM on exchange to sell at 10-20 sats. Help fill out the sell side and use it for putting some back on the buy side as well.
3) Move the remainder to my personal wallet.(15MM ish)

Over the last 4 to 5 years, I have put in 500 to 600 hours of work, pretty much with no much to gain. What money I did get, was based on what I bought or staked/mined on my own, no premining, or anything like that.

I would like to do a small bit more of work for CAP, but unless get something out of my time, I just can't commit to anything. I have so very little time these days, and I can't continue to work for free.  So the 15 million  at 10 sats, would average out to about $12-15/hr give or take, with the older work and the planned new work.   Considering my current skill set is worth close to $90/hr in the market place. I think this is pretty fair.

So let me know everyone thinks.  If this seems un-fair, no worries. I will have to kill the reminder of the fix money and I'll just move on.

I truly am grateful for everything you've done just like I'm sure the rest of the community is. But, everything you've done up until this point is on you. You did the work out of the goodness of your heart and your love for crypto. HOWEVER.. Moving forward, we need a lead developer and we now have a community coffers to fund it. Which going by your track record I reckon you'd be a shoe in  Wink

I think we need to start looking at Bottlecaps like a business and define clear goals and outcomes.

You say you'd like payment to stay on and do 'a small bit of work' so can you please outline what this work is. This way the community can figure out what the payments should be.

Many of us are in the same boat as you, with a high skill set and lack of time. So if you can outline a roadmap, I'm sure we can all combine our little time and achieve something great.

this shit's forked, check your wallets against BE gents, before things go deep south

Block explorer could be the one on the wrong chain. I've re-synced 3 times now and keep ending up on a different chain to the BE

i resynced from yesterday, ended up in line with BE right away,
major fork for me happened around 00:00 GMT

from practical point, exchange chain is the right one until dev said otherwise

P.S.
sorry ass that checkpoint server ....

I'm back in line with the block explorer now. Someone was minting hard which is why my wallet was 20 blocks out from the explorer as the explorer lags behind by about a minute

Cryptopia has informed they are are fully sync'd and have received the 1 million. I am trying to find the best way to send the remaining coins, but also to ensure people can withdrawal. I am looking for someone how has a large number on the site, is on the correct version, and correct height;   as seen at http://cap.altcoinwarz.com/ or by looking at the current checkpoint and getinfo.

Please let me know if you fit this bill and we can work with Crypoptia to ensure all is well before the full amount is sent..

Thanks!

I don't see any reasons why you shouldn't send all the coins right away.

For those with coins stuck on cryptopia it is much better that the coins are in cryptopias possession than yours.

This exactly.

The real reason is he's having to much fun using all our coins to mint with.

I asked for info about cap on cryptopia, the reply I got was:
"Bottlecaps is still syncing, it's very very slow"

Thanks mate. Do you know if they will bring back trading or will it only be available to withdraw funds. The only info on cryptopia says its being delisted but that info seems outdated.

Do you think we should get Tranz to sell off some of the community funds to get us listed on another exchange? I don't know what the rules are about selling coins on this forum but surely there would be a way to do it without an exchange. Plus if cryptopia comes back online that would be great we would then be listed on 2 exchanges.

Got a note from Cryptopia.

They had a problem on a block a while back ago, during block download. I did what I could to help them through it. They are back to syncing the block chain, they seem to be about half way done, and expect another 10-14 days. I will let you know if I hear anything else.

Any updates Tranz? 10-14 days has well and truly passed.

Tranz, can we make one off bounty payments to people like Spidersbox and yourself for putting in the time and effort to get these services up and running again? I'm thinking something like 1m CAPS. That's just a ball park figure though and depends on what the rest of the community want to do.

Any thoughts?

I can run an explorer.
no charge - I am a cap fan

I do need to know where to find the 'official' gethub repo

this is the latest version 2.3.0

Just to let you know I have been working with Cryptopia, to restore all the users coins. We did the 1 million test send, however they didn't get it. Upon further examination they were stuck on a bad block. So they have reset the block chain and are re-syncing  now.

They have asked for a block explorer, but the one at presstab is not working. Can someone please work with him to get it up and running ASAP.

If we want any chance of not only getting all the coins back to users, but also trying to keep it listed we need to ensure:

1) A fully working and correct block explorer is up.
2) The checkpoints are being issued for every block, 24/7

For the 2nd I have contacted Rey, but have not heard back from him yet.

I can confirm the transaction was successful.

Tranz why are you minting the 50m block? Using the hack to personally gain seems highly unethical.

You really should stop this and distribute the additional CAP earn't from minting to the rightful Cryptopia users.

First of all this was done via the community, not me.  If no one wanted this to happen, no one had to come onto this chain. It would just die.  You can still feel free to join the old chain.

Secondly, I could care less and I will destroy the 50M or use it for bounty for another exchange if that is what people want to do. I have no need or desire for the extra coins.

Finally, it is going to the Users on Crypotipa. If Cryptopia ever gets their act together.

I have moved all my personal coins off of that address, so there won't be any confusion later.

So as it stand right now; address EgffRPXXGiNBMt5r6G2foeqGrG26wd6jVH has 55,335,010.685995 coins. This is up 335k from the original 55 million that were mined for the community.   I will continue to mint these to keep the difficulty high, create more coins for bounty and Cryptopia users, and why the hell wouldn't I??! This is a PoS coin isn't it?

As far as distributing to people that have coins on Cryptopia. Sorry I will not do this, no time and I won't take responsibility for getting lied to, scammed, etc. I didn't sign up for that and I won't do it. End of Discussion.

That said. I will give a trusted member of the community say 1 million coins at a time to give to those users.  You can volunteer and others can vote on your trustworthiness. I know about 3 or 4 that I would trust.

But keep in mind that if Cryptopia does come back and asks for the coins, and I don't have the coins to pay back, what then??

Although I am the only person doing any work at all for this coin, it is your coin, not mine. So figure something out and tell me what you want me to do with the coins... Instead of complaining.

Thanks!

This is great news! Splitting the account will offer great transparency.

With regards to the coins, I think we should wait and sort the issue out with cryptopia as it is their problem. Giving the coins out to individual users will only leave us open to future problems.

I also think we should be using that account as a community coffers. Until cryptopia claim their coins, we should be using the generated funds from minting the 55 million account to get us back on an exchange. The extra caps minted could pay for things like a web page or block explorer for example. The only issue is finding someone willing to work for caps.
