1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: September 02, 2018, 10:36:24 PM
New Ravencoin (version 2.0.4) wallet binaries are now available at

https://twitter.com/Ravencoin/status/1034428996652605441
I downloaded this version of the wallet (2.0.4), but it does not synchronize, the synchronization scale hung in place and does not move anywhere ....

Hey Oleg, I had a pretty frustrating time with it the other day when I updated. I had to uninstall and delete raven. On your computer go to users,  the username, appdata, roaming, raven. I deleted the raven folder from there which allowed me to completely reinstall it. Took three times as the first two times it hung downloading the blockchain. I had other apps running which it says not to do. Once I closed everything out and let it run it synced up in a couple of hours.

Make sure you have backed up your wallet. Then once it is all synced, swap the wallet.dat file for your backup and relaunch. Your coins should be in a functioning wallet again.

I had transactions pending. After a couple of hours those showed up and now everything works as it did before the fork.

Alright, 1855 blocks remaining until I start mining RVN again. Glad to hear that the difficulty issue will be resolved.

What if anything do we need to do to properly mine on the new setup? Is it a fork or just a seemless edit?

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GPUnion [GUT] PoW | Computing Power Ecosystem | Stop Mining For Nothing!! on: August 07, 2018, 01:59:58 PM
I heard that the exchange was having issues. I am referring to the total network hashrate. It was much higher last week. Then dropped off suddenly and has been slowly creeping back up and now it is back down to 6.1Ghash. Cryptopool.party has 2.9G of that.

What is going on with the hashrate on this? Had many times more hash just a few days ago. Now not so much.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore v 11.9 Problem - GPU hangs on: July 29, 2018, 05:50:47 PM
Overclock settings that worked for previous claymore versions don't seem to be as stable on 11.9. I had this a bunch on my 1060s and 1070s, had to lower memory clocks. Seems fine now.

@Dagamus, you're totally missing the point. We talk about difficulty and retargeting.

I understand that. Hash rate was mentioned in the statement about fluctuation.

How often does retargeting happen with RVN anyhow? It would be nice if it was adjusted as those on nicehash and other algo swappers are messing everything up for those of us sticking to a single pool.

Looks like pickaxe is doing maintenance or something. All of mine are on my failover at cryptopool.party.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: July 28, 2018, 09:04:02 PM
The fluctuations come from the algorithm itself. If you the algorithm is mostly fast components then your hash rate will be much higher than when you have a bunch of slow components to the algorithm.

Yes it changes every minute but you will have some periods of time where it is real high, real low, or something inbetween.

The last five days of mining on Pickaxe Pro have been terrible.  I'm getting 60% of my usual coins and I've been mining this for well over three months now.  Is everyone experiencing this on different pools?  I'm fixing to search for something else to mine because its not worth the electricity at this rates.

Yeah, it has been rough this week. I've been steady on pickaxe pro. Cryptopool party doesn't look too good either. Might be more profitable to put my miners on something else and just buy RVN with the proceeds there.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: July 09, 2018, 01:59:57 PM
I am not seeing any manipulation in this. Very low volumes traded, the gap between bids and asks are not moving much at all. So for it to jump up to 320 is not that big of a surprise. I bought some the other day at 250. Had a bid in the day before at less than that and nobody wanted to sell that low.

Look at the coin volumes over the past week, almost nothing.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Introduction - 126 GPU & 13 ASics - Help with Massive heat & ventilation problem on: July 07, 2018, 05:29:07 PM
Evaporative cooling is limited to a ceiling of about 95F, really falls off after that. Probably best to get them out of your house and into a purpose made shed. Put it on your roof or a garage or an outbuilding made for that purpose.

You can also add insulating materials around the door to help with the noise.

But yeah, more airflow. Even at 47C there is still a large temperature difference to your GPUs and ASICs. Turn off the A/C, increase air flow. Consider purpose built structure outside with massive airflow.

It needs to get listed on some user friendly exchanges. I created an account on cryptobridge but it won't let me deposit any bitcoin to buy more RVN. Half of the links give a 404 error on their website.

I just signed up on Graviex, looks like I can get more RVN there. Seems like a pretty obscure exchange. That said, it being listed on Nicehash seems to give it some legitimacy, most algos they have listed have gone on to be something.

I am mining about 800-1000 per day with some spare hashing power. Not fast enough, will just buy some.

If NiceHash isn't working - I think I could point to the MiningPoolHub equihash autoswitching port (17023), set my autoexchange preference to BTC... and end up with the same thing? It should mine the most profitable equihash coin MPH supports (ZCL/BTG/ZEC/ZEN) and keep slowly converting it to Bitcoin?

Should or does?

Do these asics come with setup instructions? My first asic is delivered tomorrow.

From what I have read, I connect it to the ethernet cable, plug it in, then go to my router address to access the miner setup gui and from there enter pool info. Am I missing anything?

If miningpoolhub is working well then I guess that is where I will point my miner.

Heh, you're in for a treat.

Yup, very, very basic instructions are included. But yes, you basically just change the pool info (and your password). It'll be set to Antpool addresses when it arrives.

Yeah, I expect the instructions will be the finest technical document known to man. Seems pretty simple. I know my router address, but unsure of how exactly to access the asic. Is it a web page or a downloaded GUI program to update settings, pool address, etc.

Tracking info sent this morning. Scheduled delivery Friday.

Bitmain said it would ship on the 20th and it did. Now I just hope it ROIs.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu with two different psu on: June 19, 2018, 11:39:13 PM
Hello everybody,
         Greetings!

I am writing the reply of some one's post about the question "If I connect a gpu to a cable pcie of a psu and the riser with a cable of a different psu, can it be a problem?" which is not so much clear question eventhough I would like to try in simple and short as possible as I can.
In my guess, he would like to make a large GPU mining Rig(eg: 9 GPUs) in a single motherboard at that time he should use two Power supply Unit (PSU) for a single motherboard but safety considerations and procedures should follow for the best result like better to use good quality PSU and should use T2PSU adapter of high quality which connects the two PSU in series with the motherboard simultaneously. It does not matter you can use PSU of two different power capacities. At this situation no problem you can do it.I hope you understand.Thank you.

Depending on the GPUs and their power consumption you have several options.

The Asus board mentioned above works, so does the Colorful b250 pro mining board with dual 24 pin PSU connections on the board.

Add2PSU is also an option.

Best would be to get a cheap small PSU for the motherboard and a server PSU like is used for ASICs. Get the PSU and a breakout board for your 6/8 pin PCIe cables. Depending on your GPUs you will need to use 2-3 per card. Breakout boards have varying numbers of PCIe outputs, common to have 22. This allows you to do 7 cards if it is 3/card. If you need to get to 9 cards just use a main PSU that gives you enough to run two more cards and the motherboard. If you are using lower power cards with a single 6 or 8 pin PCIe then run 11 from the server PSU and 1 from the main PSU.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu with two different psu on: June 19, 2018, 08:26:27 PM
The question here is not about a system with two PSUs but about splitting power within a single GPU across two PSUs. 6/8 pin(s) on one PSU and the riser power on the other.

Ideally they would be on the same supply so that fluctuations in power are equal. Whether single rail or multiple rails the ground is common. That said, on the GPU board the components are isolated so the 12V and 5V voltage ripple should not cause any interference. That said, there is the possibility of unexpected things happening if power were to be cut to one psu and not the other while running. Mostly it would just shut the GPU down.

So can you? Yes.

Should you? I would rather not but I like to keep everything a bit organized. It would likely be fine for the short term but if it can be remedied in the long term best to get them on the same PSU.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [1080 | 1080TI] ETHlargement - The Hashrate Hardener on: June 12, 2018, 10:04:55 PM
With the EVGA FTW3 edition of the 1080ti, I get very high tempratures on the "PWR 4" sensor. PWR stands for Power by the way...
I have this problem with a few algos like Equihash and Ethash and I know it's not a problem with the ETHlargement, I was just hopping that someone might have found a solution to this? For example maybe if I add a thermal pad this would be fixed?

I'm talking about 78C on normal fan speeds and 71C on 100% speed. This is the temp of just one component while the rest (GPU and Memory) are close to 60C, some parts even lower.
I've read that others have the same problem but none have found a solution and I don't want to RMA it, it overclocks well and runs great so I won't risk an RMA.

That temp is completely normal, don't worry about it. As I remember they are supposedly rated to 105°C.

You don't know how much I pain for my PC! My RIG is like my child! Carefully un-dusted every week, with every fan curve modified for minimum temps and but also minimum pain to the fans, with neatly arranged LEDs.
Just seeing 70C burns my heart!!

Lol, the way I treat my rigs would get child protective services called on me. Neglected, starved for voltage, half drowned, the other half locked in a hot garage slaving away 24/7.

I do at least try and keep the dust to a minimum. Hard when the garage has to be cracked to let heat out. The animals of the house let the fans accumulate a lot of fur. But at the new house they will all be in a purpose built area with nice clean voltage and fresh filtered air.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: who bought bitmain Z9 will face a big issues now on: May 17, 2018, 01:32:36 PM
Seems like the x16r variable algorithm chain should make it pretty difficult to make an asic for it.

Still possible but unlikely.

Makes raven seem like a decent project. ZEC is about the same as far as profitability goes right now. Seems the manipulators pulled all of their sell walls on Kraken for ZEC. It will be interesting to se how far it climbs before they crash it again.

Seems like it will be a good time to sell ZEC if you have it just before it lists on Gemini
Bro kraken isnt even on top 15 places with how many zec are being trade on some exchange, that wall you saw doesnt make any difference. If you want to do ta do it on exchange with most volume
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/zcash/#markets

I imagine that they look similar across most exchanges. The people moving big enough money to manipulate are on all of them simultaneously. The only way it works.

I don’t have time to be on all of them but they only deviate so much from one another to collectively determine market price at a given point in time.

The consensus seems to be anticipation of Gemini. ZEC has been hammered over the past couple of months after being relatively consistent with the change in percent value from one day to the next relative to the other major coins.

I still have some hashing power on ZEC. Once this z9 comes in I will have more. I will run it until I cannot anymore. Hopefully it does fork though. Has been a great GPU coin.
