1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | MANDATORY UPDATE | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 on: July 09, 2014, 08:06:36 AM
chatcoin no voting system, money supply unstable ,talkcoin cnnt be a currency!

Talkcoin is a currency with a steady supply - with the new update the block reward only changes by 10% due to the voting.

Plus, we are building Talkcoin as a digital currency for secure communications, currently we are working on new core chat functions and the new GUI (design below).

There may be other coins cloning us to get into crypto communications but we are the first to market and have 4 proven developers working behind the scenes on the new features: Talkcoin dev, djm34, Aizen and Karimdr2.

Hard Fork coming up.... Smiley
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | MANDATORY UPDATE | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 on: July 09, 2014, 02:38:53 AM
we need private chat in talkcoin, otherwise this coin will fall, check the market cap on bittrex and poloneix, it's too small . and if NAV or other clones deliver the private chat function, then no maket for talkcoin

I think everyone knows this...might be hard to implement, but if TAC is first we're in for a nice ride.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 | Vote/No Premine on: June 29, 2014, 04:01:18 AM
TAC Chat is still 1 TAC?

You guys finally understand that block reward is not related with price in short term, ok ?

You're not too bright huh? Why would you want millions of TAC coins created a week with a high reward? You actually think people will keep holding the millions of coins created weekly or would they dump some lowering the price?

or would you rather have low rewards with a few TAC's being created to atleast stop some selling?

For disclaimer, I bet 1k TAC that I hold more TAC than you, ok?
Personally I of course prefer higher TAC price but we are not at this stage now. For distribution phase we need cheap TAC for a lot of people to mine and trade TAC than everyone holding TAC right now.

Ok I give up explaining my logic. Maybe it sounds wrong for you. But the price of TAC always reflects my prediction.

I know this is you... I can feel it... ThMP1xcfDGcp4upL4CGXZL7uS2MPcdoLHg

So it is you then, my friend? Wink
http://talk.cryptocoinunion.com/address.asp?address=TijQRLxXQWMXrdoRNo8bCaBE5XfcNmnWoo

Btw it is not my address  Grin and our explorer at cryptocoinunion stops working so I don't know who is the biggest whale now.
It's pretty easy to manipulate TAC price now. e.g. you put a big buy order at around 5k sat and wait for some impatient miners / holders to dump to your wall. Then set a few small sell orders at 6k range and some buyers will buy it. Instantly 20% profit and it's been happened for weeks already. If everyone holds and whales play with the market, the price can't rise, whatever the block reward is.

I wish the dev were more active so we can discuss which plan is the best for the future of TAC.

Yeah it's me... You said once "I might sell my DarkCoins and be the biggest TAC holder"... A day or so later that wallet appeared... So I thought you were throwing down the gauntlet...

I'm never one to shy away from a challenge, I consolidated my TAC wallets and pulled my coins off the exchanges  Grin

I put 100-150k worth of TAC on both Polo and Bittrex, at regular intervals, all the way up to 125k sat, to stop whales from pumping the coin too cheaply... But the pumps never came and I thought you were challenging me to a wallet duel :-)

Between the two of us I'm sure we've got enough TAC and BTC to combat any market manipulation that will be damaging for the coin.  PM me if you wanna play with the whales...

The problem is playing that game is doing nothing but discouraging miners. You guys already have yours, so your fine seeing less than .015 BTC/100mhs....sure its great thinking "long term" but people at least need to make enough and a little more just to cover costs of running...right now that is not even close. It cost me 300 a month extra to run the GPUs, at the current prices I would be mining at a loss, which I am able to eat for short term. Most can not wait months on end for something that "might" happen.

I understand all the wanting of lower block rewards too... on the other hand, the price has done nothing to reflect the lower rewards.

Yes, I am going across the current here, but if you step back and take a look back in, you could see how and why a new miner would pass this coin up. Right now its only the bag holders that are sitting pretty... we need more than just a lower block reward with "promises" of great things later or this coin will die a very slow death.

Umm....yea. I thought this was obvious but apparently not. Thanks for taking the time to explain things in a way everyone can understand....i guess dumbing down can be a good thing  Tongue

I've only had 6-9 months of experience as a miner, most coins that have been profitable to instamine haven't shown any solid long term growth prospects...

This is absolutely true...I just think this coin might be one of the few that bucks that sickening trend.

It is universal dullness to underestimate mine below a plinth. It not practical and deadlock approach. This way will stagnate development. Hashrate it has to increase instead be reduced. You are afraid of dump trucks? So can it is worth fighting with them more cleverly. It turns out that together with a basket you throw out the child. Because of vote there is a split in society. The democracy should be developed on Mars instead of in a pack of wolves.
Talkcoin community lacks reasonable ideas.

Very interesting analysis. It will be interesting to see how this plays out into the future.

I think it's a great experiment. Keeping the wolves at bay might be a challenge.  Cheesy

good.

we're cleaning house.

get rid of all the farms. i still believe in lower supply and will keep pushing for lower supply even at the next voting period.
the amount we had before was way too much. i'm sorry if you have a farm and you are not getting a majority of the coins anymore. please dump so it can be distributed to real investors and carry on.

No, no... they're still getting the majority of the coins. Just less of them. But still WAY MORE than you. That's nice, huh?

Sad....you bunch of impatient noobs wouldn't know a good coin if it bit you in the proverbial ass....thanks for cutting the payout in half....any other bright ideas?...wait!!! let's all vote for 1 TAC per block....yea yea...pffft

If the dev team is worth anything I'll be talking to actual adults in another month and all you 1 tac voters will have dumped and be losing money on a different coin.....i can wait  Cheesy

Difficulty: 146 last 6 hours....same as it ever was.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 | Vote/No Premine on: June 27, 2014, 01:34:12 AM
So we're down to 12 tacs per block. a good reduction but was expecting single digits.

any thoughts?

Slower reduction might not be a bad thing. Can test market to see if it's a acceptable reward. If not the next reward will get further reduce. Now i love voting  Cool

Diff hasn't changed....price hasn't changed....oh wait....now you get half as many TAC.....genius!!!

People can't dump if no one is buying...yesterday's volume on polo was around 1 BTC...who's dumping into that?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 | Vote/No Premine on: June 26, 2014, 02:53:48 AM
There is one bot currently sucking profit out of TAC. For the uninitiated due to the low volume he controls the lowest/highest asks/bids so basically anyone that buys or sells does so to him.
He is constantly selling high and buying low due to the significant spread and making decent coin. Old game....I'm fucking with him but someone should knock him out the box.

Maybe wasn't a bot...regardless he seems to have grown tired and moved on for now.

Oh yea....congrats djm...let's see what you can do!  Cheesy

you should do something that limit the hash, and about those lunatics renting, that are ruining crypto worl

i'm firmly convinced that the next big feature should be limiting the hash, for a fair distribution not based on your hashpower but based on person

Dev should respond to this. I firmly agree with you on this, I can see the vast majority of people liking this. Mineral coin is showing signs of success with this.

The goal would be fair distribution and wide distribution.
+100500. Developers only pools with 0.5% fee for them, hash limit 100-150 mhs. Sound good. And no MP`s or standart ones.

We have the voting where users can effectively influence the hash through mining profitability.  Decentralized way is better than us setting a limit on hash.

Great discussion...not sure where I stand on this...wide/fair distribution is a must obviously...hash has been pretty steady and not astronomical as of late...a fixed limit seems draconian.

But farms/wealthy renters will just leave then jump back on after any attempts to lower block reward to make it unprofitable for them. Great experiment! Could possibly push crypto forward in unexpected ways.

Bravo!

The +/- 10% change per voting period would suppress abuse, no?

I believe so, and it's in the next update apparently.

Nice buy book on Cryptrader!  Grin

A long time ago in a galaxy very, very far away this would have been seen in bad taste. People discussed what they could do to further a coin. They actually discussed how they would
work together to make the coin viable and interesting.

Imagine that!!!  Cheesy
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TAC] TalkCoin | First Anonymous Chat | First NIST5 | Vote/No Premine on: June 22, 2014, 04:47:12 PM
chatting cost need to change. More people will chat if it only cost 0.01 TAC
+1
1 TAC for message too much. At least 0.1 TAC.

Hopefully, we'll all change that once the voting for the cost is implemented.

We decided not to implement voting for chat cost in the next release.

Instead, costs will be set to:

Chat: 0.1 TAC Bold: 1 TAC
Vote: 2 TAC

Excellent work!!!

I would suggest some way to prevent vote manipulation. 2 TAC per vote might make it more enticing for people attempting to alter the reward for their supposed benefit.

IP logging to prevent multiple wallets can't be done due to the anonymous nature of the coin plus TOR is already doable.

I haven't thought on it long but there must be a way to make it not worth the effort.

Again, great work and can't wait for the update.

yes, R9-290 and R9-290X are more difficult to be set.
I am testing with --thread-concurrency 8192 and --gpu-memclock 1250 directly inside sgminer.conf and it seems more stable then before...  more tests will come out in the following hours...
I'll keep you informed

thread-concurrency doesn't affect much NIST5-performance (check the source code) I would not touch it. Play with thread-concurrency only bring you 1% more in my experience.
Important is delete all the *.bin file in sgminer-nist5 and set proper clock, intensity.

anyway, now I am running fine sph-sgminer_nist5 on my windows machines with R9-290 and R9-290X at double hashrate...

the secret is to set --thread-concurrency 8192 and gpu memclock at lowest possible value (--gpu-memclock 1250 or --gpu-memclock 1300)

on some R9-290 lowest gpu-memclock is 1250 and on other R9-290X it is 1300

I'm running memclock at 650 on all rigs, no difference in speed and saves a little power...
At 650 your gpu run at the stock clock ! You can check it on Sgminer console !

none of my R9-290 goes under 1300 Mhz as memclock. I can set 1300 as minimum. A couple of them can be set at 1250

there is some sort of a bug with msi afterburner /amd drivers
(kill msi) then restart it should give the possibility to change the clock (or you have to restart the computer)

Mate, great work with the miner, appreciate it a lot.

On the 270's, I got Memclock 750, Engine 1271, Intensity 21 and each card is giving me 8.69 Mh/s
On the 280's, I got Memclock 775, Engine 1120, Intensity 20 and each card is giving me 12.2 Mh/s
On the 290's, I got Memclock 675, Engine 1075, Intensity 19 and each card is giving me 14.8 Mh/s

Farm is sitting on just under 1.5 Gh/s...

I'll send you a reward for your efforts in the morning... Not gonna goto the warehouse tonight, Germany/Portugal is about to start  Grin

Can someone post an idiots guide and links to the latest working upgrade....can't seem to get this running on any of my machines.....sux.

I have the old lib-4 but it just crashes the drivers....any help would be appreciated.

Just to make sure, anyone thoroughly review the talkcoin code? I'm not too familiar, but would love to anything to taint tac's image.

super is having a bad day.

I know the code is getting reviewed.....but not by anyone that's even close to being in your realm of understanding.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 29, 2014, 05:35:57 AM
How is the current Bitcoin system going to spell any of this out? You can see transactions in/out. You don't know what's going to supplier or which ones. You don't know what's going back to customers. You don't know anything but money in/money out. It's like looking at a banking balance sheet that has everything blacked out but the amounts. It isn't going to give you any information that isn't already public. Blacking out the numbers as well has no benefit at all.

So your solution is the same at ymer's:
Never generate change and never combine dust/change addresses to pay for large debts.

Cool. You're right, Bitcoin is totally anonymous.

If I was standing in front of you and said "I just spent $0.98 and got $3.21 and then spent $1.00," what good would that do you? Now you know I have a net income of $1.23, but past that you don't know where the money went, what it was for or where the money came in from. You know nothing but that somewhere there are addresses where money went to and from and they happened to result in a net of $1.23. That $0.98 could have been a return or it could have been a purchase of hamburger meat (or part of a bill or x or y or z). The income could have been a purchase or accounts receivable or x or y or z. You know absolutely nothing other than that I now have $1.23 more than I had prior.

I stopped reading when you drew an analogy between Bitcoin and cold hard cash.
lol. You are either trolling or totally naive to how Bitcoin functions. You should see how well they mapped addresses in wallets of Silk Road users to user ID's on this forum based solely on addresses in people's signatures.

What did ymer say? Please don't quote him! LOL

It's too fun shooting down his crackpot ideas!
I had to click show to see it, he is normally ignored.

dunno...but if i remember right we used tumblers....sometimes two, three back to back....might not be feasible/trustworthy now but was common place iirc

I think you also missed the people who invested many thousands in rigs and have been mining vert just waiting for the current profitability.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MON | Monocle | Merge Mined on VTC Vertcoin - No Premine - Scrypt-N on: May 13, 2014, 06:56:32 PM
I am still at http://hk.vertco.in  waiting for them to start offering the " bonus of MON and PLX " not sure how they will pay me this if the pool only lets me put in a VTC address. I would like a pool that does all 3 coins or atleast VTC / MON and that i can keep track of whats going on and not just a random point your miner to us and we pay you  Lips sealed

We are still fixing bug in both stratum server and payout system. So, right now it doesn't support both MON and PLX yet. We wish it will be done before Sunday as we promise with miners that we will make it in this week.

Vertco.in - Vertcoin Pool

Well, guys, at least I know from where MON sell walls came to polo.

lol....yea, i think a few pools/nodes mined a ton with everyone's hash power early on. Will take awhile to get eaten up.

A coin with zero premine, top shelf devs, a secure blockchain and a rather small total supply should be a no brainer.

Mon needs to find an inspiring raison d'ętre and community support it to really take off I think.

Then again, it's stability alone could make it an great speculative instrument.

I'm gonna grab a few  Cheesy

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MON | Monocle | Merge Mined on VTC Vertcoin - No Premine - Scrypt-N on: May 13, 2014, 10:32:29 AM
does anyone actually who tried merged mining get 100% VTC/MON/PLX equially according to their hashrate? I go less with merged mining so I gave up. It looks suspicious to me I got half as much as I expected for each coin.

Early miners on proxypool never received their coins, this is how it works. You have to stay there for long time due to pool payout nature. Also, there was worst payout bug ever. My worst pool experience.

well i mined for 2 days straight to be sure.. was a waste (or theft) of my hash

You're not talking about the same thing though are you? If you tried triple mining you either did so on a centralized pool or solomining by running a p2pool node. So jiwany I'm guessing you feel you wasted your time on a centralized pool, while sammy didn't get his due from a proxypool?

The proxypool payout script was indeed quite buggy in the beginning, it did pay out but didn't mark transactions as paid, and because of how the payout scheme works this meant you had to keep mining there to get paid. If you were on a big node early on then jumped ship, you basically got pushed back to the end of the queue for payments, as they go out to the most recent shares first. As no shares were being tagged as paid, your initial hash most likely got wasted unless the operator fixed his backlog.

What this means is that the ones who stayed on those nodes most likely got paid multiple times for their shares once the pool hit a lucky streak. Once the backlog bug was fixed, unless the operator had already fixed his backlog database like I did, those shares most likely got paid once again as the script worked it's way back through the shares.

So to summarize: the payout script was buggy until ~Thursday 9th of May, some people got paid too much, some people too little, and mining on a proxy p2pool requires patience as variance can be high and payments go out on a last come, first serve basis!

I can confirm this. I did very well early on on a proxy p2p mining just vert and mon. I was surprised at the payouts. (diff was a lot lower also)

I have almost 4000 khs so that probably helped. Smaller miners seemed to have had more trouble due to variance.

Better buy MON while it is ultra cheap...

it is very cheap to buy MON coins
seems to be 1BTC= .08 MON now. MON is go to worth crap so hold on to your VTC coins
MON is first merged minable coin,no premine, fair launch, only 8.4 millions to be mined, currently in circulation 170-180k,net hashrate over 2.5ghs,diff 80+...this coin should be worth at least .002  only noobs sell at this prices

yup,and now ppl are geting it,its jumped from 0.00020 to 0.00060 in 10 minutes Smiley and its still too cheap...

Not sure if such merged coins will be worthless. Looks like people are not much interested in these coins.
I won´t sell them on this prices but also would not buy.

The 15 year old kids dumping is normal. Happens with every coin. They have no idea of the value of anything. They need their $3.65 right now to go to the mall. lol

MON was being bought at twice it's current value but the race to the bottom might continue until little Jimmy has enough for the new pair of sneakers he's had his eye's on.  Cheesy
