I attended lessons in public speaking, and they were very valuable, I'd recommend it to anyone! We learned these main things:

1. Learn to fight stage fright
2. Learn to control your body language and voice tone and tempo
3. Learn to have interesting content in your presentation (captivating intro, informative and dynamic middle, and a great ending)

So they are pillars of a good talk.

Just breathe deep and try to look at yourself from outside, get some perspective. This way you understand that this is just a moment and if will pass and it's not something that important to get angry over.
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible? Unstable amount of coins in circulation? on: March 31, 2018, 02:25:31 PM
Hey! I think you're describing exactly how Tether works! Cheesy

They are maintaining the value of 1 USDT close to 1 USD at all times by minting more coins into circulation or burning some. Not sure about the tech details about how they do it, but if I wanted to create a stable coin that is pegged to USD I would (as a creator) call the smart contract to update the liquidity supply by calling an oracle that would tell me how many coins I should add or burn so the value remains at 1 usd. Now that oracle would take into account a lot of things to come to the conclusion of what to do with the supply to maintain 1 usd per coin (info from exchanges or coinmarketcap, how the dollar is doing, etc).

Hope that helps!
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Life with out money ? on: March 29, 2018, 11:09:57 PM
Imagine this - you work hard until you're 30, earning money and investing a big chunk into creating a safe haven for yourself. You buy a small house in the countryside, learn to cultivate food, dig out a well to have water, equip the property with solar panels for free electric energy. You don't need a doctor because you life a healthy lifestyle (but if get a serious illness, you're fucked, that's a fact). When something breaks you fix it yourself. Etc, etc. That is possible right now, and will be even more in the near future as startups disrupt food growing industry, solar energy storage, health etc. In the future the Internet will hopefully be available to everyone for free too. So you can adjust your lifestyle to need little or no currency. And if 100 other people join you, there can be a self sustainable system that has little need for money. But then, if you want to go back into the city to have a cup of coffee with a friend, you'll need money. So probably money in some form will always be a part of our lives. We can decrease our dependance on it for some things, but not everything.

For me it's inexcusable. I could never be in an open relationship. When I care about someone I care exclusively Smiley and expect the same from them, but of course that is something I communicate early so there is no confusion.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: March 20, 2018, 10:55:50 AM
Given the speed of developments in crypto world, 15 years doesn't seem short to me. If that does happen it will surely not be Bitcoin in its current form. I'm thinking it won't be bitcoin at all, but a new, technologically superior blockchain. This year I think we'll see a lot more institutional money go into crypto, which will be a huge milestone. Anyway can't wait to see what the future holds!
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Is fall of bitcoin from 16k$ good for bitcoin and alt-crypto? on: March 19, 2018, 06:59:58 PM
Yeah, I think it's just normal healthy volatility. When the market cap gets to like 10 trillion dollars it will be much less volatile. The crash happens every January and then comes back stronger until the year's end. I'm in the market for like a year, but when you are looking at it longer, you see patterns and get to know how the market works. But when people are new to the scene, they see every crash as the end of crypto Smiley
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are you long term or short term? on: March 08, 2018, 08:58:35 AM
Project I have belief in I hold for at least a year and maybe more. But even when they bring me crazy gains, I will take out some profits, like 15-20%. Others that I buy when the prices are low or on ICO are usually projects that I like, but they turn out not to be as good as I expected (no frequent updates from the team, no news, no advances in project development...), and those I trade with some gain. Long term holds tend to bring highest profits, if you can hodl through thick and thin Smiley
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Master Degree Important? on: March 07, 2018, 08:58:04 AM
Very good question that I have asked myself many times. Of course it depends on the field, but let's take software development as that is my field. I finished my bachelor studies 2 years late because I started working in a software company on my 3rd year and couldn't juggle both effectively. I knew that most software companies (at least for Web development) don't require any degree, so I was not very motivated to finish my studies. If I could find a great job and advance in it, isn't that practical industry knowledge much better than the theory and outdated stuff they teach at faculty? But I somehow finished the bachelor studies and realised that theory is important to do the job well. Then I was in a position to decide if I wanted to continue with Master studies. I had a great job. I was tired of the academia and how it works compared to companies. So I decided not to go to Master. I'm still happy with the decision, even though I'm always thinking how good it would look on my resume if I for example started a company. So far not one company I worked with even asked me about my education when interviewing. They only seem to care if you have the practical knowledge and skills. Time will tell.
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to solve world hunger ? on: March 04, 2018, 10:59:00 AM
There are a number of interesting developments in this area - from startups growing meat in farms, to those finding ways to get the most nutrients from bugs (bugs are fast to reproduce) to those trying to create cheap powders - a mix of chemicals - that satisfy daily nutritional needs, and many others. So let's say that we can figure out (sooner or later) how to create enough food for the entire population. Then the problem becomes people not having money and getting that food to distant places on Earth.

Idea of Universal Basic Income existed for a long time, which would solve the money part. But it's problematic because governments would have to give money to people from the tax that others pay, and that system is difficult to make work. How about blockchain? There are more and more platforms where you can earn tokens for some actions that you do. Steem, Datum, BAT, etc. Also, let's say that the whole planet is covered with Internet access with some kind of space satellite network (looking at you Elon), which could one day have a free plan where you can spend up to 10 GB or something per month. Smart phone prices continue to drop. Then, we can equip everyone with a smart phone and let them use the blockchain platforms where they get tokens for any useful action they do. They watch an ad, they get tokens. They sell their Facebook data for research, they get tokens. Do this on several apps every day, and you can get enough income to live off. Of course, there are two things needed for this to work - first, earned coins must be used by many people to have value. That' the easier one. And second - you have to educate people in the most remote parts of the world on how to use the technology to earn and more importantly, spend the tokens for food.

Another idea is to start moving people from parts where they cannot grow food to more fertile lands. Or even better to transform infertile land into fertile. Also, teraforming Mars (again looking at you Elon). There so much awesomeness ahead, we just have to think big, crazy ideas!
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think that bitcoin can reduce corruption? on: March 04, 2018, 10:14:34 AM
In the same way that bitcoin can be used for illegal activities like buying drugs, it can be used by corrupt politicians (who are good with tech Smiley). Bitcoin is an economic tool and any tool can be abused that way.The fact that it's anonymous makes it great for transactions used for corruption, just like cash. But the main disadvantage of cash in this scenario is that it has to be physically transferred from one person to another, whereas bitcoin is digital. Also, a corrupt politician could create as many anonymous accounts as needed to make his corrupt transactions virtually untraceable.

So cryptocurrenices themselves can actually be a perfect tool for corruption. I wonder if it is used that way right now. I imagine there would be some problems with getting cash from bitcoin, though.
