1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][FRND] Friend Unifying Platform - Cloud OS for Blockchain - Live Now on: March 23, 2018, 08:17:14 AM
The Friend Unifying Platform can connect to almost any digital device, and therefore it is impossible to predict all possible ways that developers, software and service providers, and users will resort to in the future. So it can be said for today that there are no limits!

This is true. There's a reason why operating systems like Linux, BSD, Windows and MacOS drives development of software and not simply web servers and browsers. Web servers and browsers also rely on operating systems to do hard work. This is why we thought it would be a good idea to have a full stack operating system - albeit on a higher level than "traditional operating systems". And Friend being high-level should not fool you. Since the 70s, engineers argued (read about the Thoth OS) that an OS ought to be majority high-level code for portability and universality - keeping its kernel close to the iron. Friend's kernel, of course, is written in C.

By using Friend's module system, developers can leverage any programming language to build their server side components - just like they do with Apache. But as a Friend module, they get access to cloud storage, network processing and a range of other functionalities built-in.

I’ve read a little about the platform and I figured I need help)) The project aims to solve some kinds tasks in IT developments but what exactly?! is it some sort of programs synchronizer?

Friend is - in essence - a decentralized Google Cloud held together by a networking cloud operating system that can be accessed by developers and users in a format like Android on phones and Chrome OS on notebooks and desktops.

Here is a screenshot of the current development version:

So if you're a developer, you can log into a full cloud desktop environment and build applications that live on the internet. Friend is using Blockchain technologies for database, file storage and other things (Golem for processing e.g.).

Users can use this environment too, or the mobile app, or they can just use the apps directly in a browser tab without the desktop. Take a look at our roadmap for the full story.

https://friendup.cloud/discover/roadmap/

Apps can be quickly deployed using the infrastructure and APIs in FriendUP. Users can access these deployed apps either by web url, or in a cloud desktop environment as seen in the screenshot. So, deploy for users using a web url, or let Friend users find your app in the Friend Store, and connect that app to their user account.

The important thing is that for a user, Friend can live entirely in a web browser (either on a smart phone or a PC) - and in the future (in a few months), you may be able to install it on a PC natively.

How platform allows you to use Ethereum more? Just by being connected to the Internet?

Friend allows you do really go deeply into Blockchain technology and crypto currency, because it is entirely embedded in this technology. And as you well know, an operating system builds both a culture and a technological basis for developers. So many utilities and tools will appear very soon that will make your crypto life easier. That's why we make it so trivial to deploy and distribute apps in the Friend Network.

Where Linux has a lot of compilers, shell tools and experimental software - because it is for open source developers - Friend will have more networking, crypto and Blockchain tools because that's where it's focus is. And as we roll out drivers for e.g. Fluence and Golem, it will be pretty clear that you'll interact more with Ethereum than ever before.
