1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH and ICOs - Do you think that the decline of ETH price will affect ICOs? on: October 10, 2018, 12:53:36 AM
We've hit the bottom last month, according to some analysts

https://www.ccn.com/analyst-ethereum-sell-off-in-august-shows-crypto-has-hit-a-bottom-in-2018/

Do you agree that what really propelled bitcoin's run are the massive ERCO 20 based ICOs last year? This means that Bitcoin's rise has been indirectly fueled by ETH?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH and ICOs - Do you think that the decline of ETH price will affect ICOs? on: October 07, 2018, 01:56:03 AM
Great discussion! Thank you everyone for sharing what you think.

Here are a couple of take aways based on your opinions:

1. Price psychology plays a big factor whether or not investors participate in an ICO. Since the price of ETH is close to the year's low, some (not all) investors prefer to wait on the sidelines and this affects all projects IN GENERAL. As a result, some projects extend the ICO period to reach required caps and others move their ICO at a later date.

2. The price of ETH should not matter as long as the project is of great quality although there maybe a possibility that ICO period maybe extended due to the overall market sentiment (psychology as mentioned above). Unlike last year, great projects get sold out even before the ICO period ends.

Other points of discussion:
Based on trends for the past years, do you think ETH will gain even at least half of what it lost before the year ends? When do you think is the best time for high-quality projects to do their ICO period?

It is the only information that you have about a project. If you are planning to invest, it is of utmost importace to understand what you are trying to get into.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH and ICOs - Do you think that the decline of ETH price will affect ICOs? on: October 04, 2018, 02:37:17 PM
Actually, ICOs and DApps should be happy about this. Think about gas prices for starters, when ETH was at $1.3k, can you imagine how expensive it would have been to use a DApp for 1 user if he did it 10 times a day? And do you think people are more or less willing to invest ETH into ICOs when ETH was so expensive to buy? Now you can buy $2300 worth of ETH and invest 10 ETH and get bonuses. And people stocking up on ETH now means more investors ready to invest later on.

That anyway is the side issue. ETH price is today what it is mostly because of all the useless ICOs and DAPPs being put out for over 1 year. All hype and price, no value. This is literally the price to pay.

Good point. That's certainly another way to look at it.

and yes, it is noticeable that ICOs are kind of deteriorating in terms of quality. I hope it doesn't mean that we're running out ideas and legit use cases
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BER MONTHS, still legit? on: October 04, 2018, 10:07:18 AM
Looks like the King has bottomed out. If it remains stable or as long as it doesn't go below 6K then we've eliminated one reason for the alts to get panicky. I still don't expect a strong rally at the end of the year though but I hope I'm wrong.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH and ICOs - Do you think that the decline of ETH price will affect ICOs? on: October 04, 2018, 09:53:49 AM
I believe it will not affect an ongoing ICO project as long as the project is genuine with very high potential to hit in the market.
Sometimes, it's how the team promotes their project. There are times that crap projects with very articulate marketing team can acquire huge amount of money, while an innovative one with poor marketing can't even get an audience from the community.
So long that a project is authentic in their goals and has very strong team, I think the eth price is not that significant. Maybe, you can buy more tokens now with the current value.  Cheesy

Promotion indeed plays a big role to the overall success of an ICO. So, in your case, if you come across a great project and you have the funds to invest, you wouldn't consider putting off your investment even if ETH appears to fall below 200USD again?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / ETH and ICOs - Do you think that the decline of ETH price will affect ICOs? on: October 04, 2018, 09:23:03 AM
Since ETH's price is still trading near this year's low, do you think ICOs, specifically ERC based, will be greatly affected? Or do you think price won't matter as long as the project is with great quality?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the Unsold Tokens? on: October 04, 2018, 09:07:14 AM
There is no point of keeping unsold tokens unless the company has plans of putting them in the market. Good ICO's burn them to make sure it won't find it's way into circulation.
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AML/KYC Explained on: October 04, 2018, 09:00:56 AM
I invested in several ICO's this year. With one or two the KYC process was real fast, happened within a few days. With another couple of ICO's it has taken forever. One in particular is now nearly 2 months. How long should it take?

Most ICO's have a third party KYC solutions provider so it's normal for processing times to vary. There are top KYC providers that has AI integrated in their platform so the process is really quick.
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto replacing fiat? on: October 04, 2018, 08:52:32 AM
Not in the near term. It will be a loong and difficult path to mass adoption but we'll get there.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 600 dollar to invest on: October 02, 2018, 12:16:05 PM
Hi guys , i will buy today some Altcoins worth of 600 dollar. no Bitcoin , no ethereum, no Neo.
Is buying elixir or  telcoin a good idea ? help me please

So what did you end up buying? Why not bitcoin?

With that amount I will buy 1 coin only and will choose within the top 10 only (market cap). Stay out of short term trading in the mean time.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All coin values down and up with BTC! Is it good? on: October 01, 2018, 03:11:28 AM
At this point aren't Bitcoin and Alts supposed to be inversely correlated?

I mean you sell Bitcoin to buy Alts and vice versa. Unless people use Fiat for most of Bitcoins and Alts purchases then they can go up together.

errr I think I just lost all logic and not thinking straight.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency Index Fund - Has anyone here tried it? on: October 01, 2018, 03:02:18 AM
Has anyone here tried investing in crypto index funds such as Crypto20 or/and Houbi10?

Please share your experience. How is your investment so far?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BOUNTY CAMPAIGN :( on: September 30, 2018, 03:48:55 AM
why most of the bounty campaigns have always been extended ??
can you say this scam?
is it normal in bounty campaigns?
we know it's hard to expect to work a long time in the project after scam.

Most bounty program goes hand in hand with the ICO or crowdsale. If the ICO needs to be extended (probably to sell out all tokens) then the bounty program USUALLY gets extended as well. If you come to think of it, extending the bounty program will be beneficial to bounty hunters since the token allocation for bounty programs depends on the total tokens sold. In short, the tokens got all sold out, then the bounty program will get the max tokens allocated for it benefiting all the hunters.

In addition, bounty contests are manually audited at the end to weed out cheaters (and again, this benefits honest bounty hunters) and that takes A LOT OF TIME!

So yeah, not all that extends the bounty program already a scam. Like the cliche goes, patience is a virtue.

happy hunting!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH ready to bounce back? on: September 28, 2018, 03:23:58 PM
Ether probably descends even lower, I think that at least at around $ 150, and there is already possible to buy without thinking. But there is also a chance that we will not update the bottom

well, it can be seen that there is currently no significant increase from ETH. I also hope that ETH prices will rise in the near future. Well, this is also an opportunity for investors to take appropriate action on the ETH.
This might be a apportunity for several ETH investors but most are frightened to get back into ETH after the price fall.
ETH will surely grow in the near future as it is one of the greatest project and should gain some more demand in the upcoming future soon.
I am ready to get into a proper dip and hold onto a nicer peak.

Yes it is indeed an opportunity. For sure some are already filling up their bags at current prices. I would still be cautious though as a small investor but I will not miss this opportunity. It's best to buy in tranches so if it suddenly shoots up, then you'll be happy since you were able to buy. If it goes further south, then you'll still have more bullets to buy the dips.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH ready to bounce back? on: September 28, 2018, 03:15:16 PM
Until Ethereum hits 500$ i will not buy ethereum.
Its still in a bearish mode and looks like not gonna end soon.
200$ is a nice support levet to buy but i will not do that too.

Well see if you buy now and it reaches 500$ so you will already make money. And what happens if you buy at 500$ and then it starts falling then you end up in a loss. This happens in the crypto market very frequently and should grab when the prices are lower.

500 is probably his buy signal. A validation that there's some sort of established support and is ready to climb up again.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH ready to bounce back? on: September 28, 2018, 03:07:43 PM
Well for the sake of ETH holders, I do hope this guy is right

18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I stop trading in this bear market? on: September 15, 2018, 03:31:59 AM
There is still a way to make money in the bear market. Have a look at those bitmex guys killing it but it's not really for beginners. If you're all cash at the moment then you could pause instead of getting into any position.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest in ICO this time, yes or no? on: September 15, 2018, 01:52:15 AM
Yes. There are still ICOs out there with great potential. Diligence is a must. DYOR always so won't get the scammed.
20  Other / Archival / Re: trakx .io possible scam ? on: September 15, 2018, 12:00:32 AM
I appreciate you trying to warn people about scam projects but due diligence must be made before making any conclusions.

Have you checked the WP?
have you tried contacting the founders?

It's good that you pointed out that none of the listed founders doesn't seem to mention anything about Trakx in their profile. There is usually a reason for that especially in Linkedin. Think again.
