Fair enough.  Goes to show my ignorance of the Greek alphabet.  I'll go ahead and delete my post, as I am not one to spread FUD.  But damn, what a horrible association to have the same name with and hence be possibly confused with.

XCHAT HOW TO:

Hey all,

So, I have searched everywhere to try to find a “How to” for using XChat and after searching for quite some time I could not find one.  Therefore, in wanting to test this out, I have decided to write my own.  Hoping this is as ID10T proof as possible, and I hope this helps!  I am donating this to the community.  Feel free to copy, use, edit, etc.  Please feel free to comment or give corrections if I am in error on anything.  Thanks!

HOW TO USE XCURRENCY XCHAT

1.  Create new wallet address.  Because XChat is currently in beta, I highly suggest creating a new wallet address for any testing purposes.  First, make sure your existing wallet.dat is backed up.  To locate your wallet, for Windows users, go into Windows Explorer and type in %appdata% in the address bar and press Enter.  Double-click on directory labeled XCurrency.  Locate wallet.dat within that directory and rename to something like walletbackup.dat

2.  Start the XC App.  If you have just renamed your wallet.dat as stated in step 1, a new address will be automatically created.  For additional privacy (to prevent someone from somehow stealing your new wallet.dat file and sending message pretending to be from you, I suggesst you encrypt this new wallet with a password.

3.  Label your XC address as XChat.
Explanation:  Within XC App, click on tab “Receive Coins”.  This will show your XC address in the right-hand column.  Double-click the box in the column to the left of that address, under “Label”, and change it to to “XChat” (exclude quotes).

4.  Now, within XC App, click on tab “XChat.”
You should now see three rows labeled:  “my”, “remote”, and “key”.
Within XChat tab:  my = your XC address, remote = recipient's XC address, key = recipient's public key

Explanation:
In the column to the right of “my” should be your XC address that you previously labeled XChat.  If it is not there, click on the little address book icon on the right to auto-fill it.
In the column to the right of “remote” you should input the XC address for the recipient (i.e. person whom you are trying to send an XChat message to).
In the column to the right of “key” you need to input the public key for the recipient's address.

5.  Give it shot!  Type in a message and click “Send”!  Keep in mind that if you want your recipient to be able to reply, they will also need your public key.  In other words, you will have to send it to them within the message, or give it to them in some other way.

Locating your public key:  You can locate your public key within XC App → “Receive Coins” tab → right-click your XC address → “Copy public key”.

Hope this helps.  If you would like to test it out with me, feel free to send me a message.

My address:XGWQvHzpH7owVeVPZPKTRuff4LyW1Sg4KG
My public key:bcDH7uctqSpD8PPtYpWxArARyw1VFvdkT6edB5jFKibP

P.S.  Remember to send me your public key so I can reply!

Ok, I want to give my thoughts on the TOR stick/wallet card...   I am an Investment Professional for the past 27 years and was very unsure of cryptocurrency.  I recently bought into a few coins with XC getting most of my attention.  Why?  They understand that it has to be easy and explainable to the mainsteam to get a larger base and market.  Most of this forum is computer junkies.  I don't know how to code, barely know what an xnode is, but also believe the coin that can bring themselves the masses will prevail.  I think it is very valuable for us that travel, or work with secure computers that feel it is not in their best interest to be on certain sites at their work or on the road, to have this tool.  This tool makes it easy for me to log on annonymously and securely and hold my wallet and coins securely.  This may be simple for those of you who eat and breathe this, but for me, it will make my life much easier and give me the feeling of another security level with easier access.  It is also valuable to share with other non-techy investors who may invest if they knew and easy trustworthy way to log on and secure their wallet.   It is like someone mechanically inclined who can't believe someone pays $75 to have a synthetic oil change when it takes them 10 minutes and $20 for oil and a filter...

+1 Bump therightmintality's comments copied above

. . .

MY OPINION ON PORTABLE WALLET
I think the 2nd option (green logo, white background on credit-card sized usb) is the best.  Reasons:  Pro, the green with white background definitely does stand out.  This is probably why Microsoft chose a similar coloring scheme for their x-box marketing (see pics at link: =xbox%20logo&filters[primary]=images&filters[secondary]=videos&sort=1&o=0]http://media.photobucket.com/user/GameWorldgr/media/2011b/XboxLiveLogo.jpg.html?filters[term]=xbox%20logo&filters[primary]=images&filters[secondary]=videos&sort=1&o=0)

The black (option 1) -- Blackcoin already has something that looks very similar to this. (http://blackcoincard.com/).
The last two I just do not like . . . they give no feeling of value or quality.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WorldCoin|WDC|WorldCoinAlliance|WorldCoin-The global digital currency on: March 16, 2014, 02:37:29 AM
From everything I have found, by its very speed, WorldCoin is impervious to transaction malleability which has plagued Bitcoin (and caused the recent huge disuption of Mt. Gox): http://www.sfgate.com/technology/article/Bitcoin-s-transaction-malleability-rattles-system-5236912.php

Litecoin also has this flaw.  From my research, this is not possible with WorldCoin.  I invite the community to reply on this with technical details (if any) and why I may be wrong.

One thing I do know is that WorldCoin is at historic lows right now, so I'm buying as much as I can!!

One thing I haven't found anyone talk about is that from my understanding, because of it's speed Fastcoin should theoretically be impossible to create a malleability attack that has plagued Bitcoin and brought down Mt.Gox.  Am I correct in this?  Does anyone have anything to ad to this question?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) • CoinOp.me Cryptogenic Bullion Evaluation on: December 18, 2013, 11:16:12 PM
Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB), 6/28/2013
   Encryption type:  scrypt
   60 second block time
   Difficulty retarget: 2 minutes
   Supply 1/2 every ~37 days
   Total supply ~1million

CGB vs. LTC:   60 second block CGB vs. 150 second block LTC --> While this would seem as an improvement over Litecoin (given that 1 minute block time leads to faster transaction/confirmation time), it doesn't offer anything new in the alt-coin world.  WDC has 30 second block times (even better).

CGB vs. BTC:  ~1 million total supply CGB vs. ~21 million total supply BTC --> The developers tout this as possibly making CGB more valuable than BTC. (link) Such a claim is absurd:  it shows the CGB developers' failure to recognize that BTC is almost infinitely divisible (all the way down to .00000001), are ignorant of economics and monetary theory, or are aware of this and are being disingenuous with the alt community.

Summary:  CGB doesn't offer anything special to the alt-coin scene that doesn't already exist.

CoinOp.me CGB evaluation:  Not worthy of investment.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I mine 2 pools at the same time ? on: December 16, 2013, 05:10:10 PM
Really you have to determine what the payout system is in the respective pool and also the kh/s for the entire pool.  For example, if your pool's payout system is PPS (pay-per-share), then for each block that is solved you will get a %age of the return based upon your share of correct/accepted hashes.  If the pool is very tiny and you are attempting to mine an alt-currency with high difficulty, the chances of the pool solving a block are going to be lower - this means that within a short time period, you may not get as much payout as you would from another pool with more hash power.  Really, it all comes down to probability and chances of getting a correct block.  So a pool with low hashing power doesn't have to be scamming you at all and you will still get a lower payout than from a different pool with higher hashes because the pool with lower hashing power just hasn't solved as many blocks.
