1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Are there any SEC regulated exchanges? on: April 18, 2018, 08:53:13 PM
I'm creating a token and I'd like to put it on an exchange that is regulated by the SEC after my ICO is finished. Has anyone heard of new exchanges that will be regulated?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scam ICO checklist on: March 30, 2018, 05:54:44 PM
White paper too general with no depth is also a red flag. I've heard a lot of talk about telegram's investors having concerns about the white paper lacking depth.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bringing Sustainability to Crypto on: March 28, 2018, 03:40:59 PM
It is no secret, the very process of mining (which is crucial to cryptocurrency) is very bad for the environment. Computer chips, batteries, power used, its benefiting our wallets but will soon destroy our planet.
In an article titled How is Bitcoin affecting the environment by CBSnews.com, "Nearly 10 U.S. households can be powered for one day by the electricity consumed for a single bitcoin transaction".
What are some potential solutions? Solar companies teaming up with alt-coin ventures to use alternative sources of energy for mining perhaps?
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Non programmer: creating a Blockchain on: March 23, 2018, 06:51:00 PM
I'm fairly new to the crypto world but I want to make my own blockchain and I want to target a specific industry and have tokens only allowed on it if they're SEC compliant.
For a non-programmer, I think it looks pretty easy to use previously written code, change a few things (with the help of a blockchain developer that i pay hourly from upwork.com) and deploy it.
Will I have to mine tokens myself?
Will I have to have very fast internet and an expensive computer to do that?
What are some things I'm not thinking of in this process...it sounds too simple.

This is a great resource, try writing some of this code on your own: https://hackernoon.com/learn-blockchains-by-building-one-117428612f46

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sending in fake ID for KYC on: March 17, 2018, 05:15:21 PM
I am actually very wary of giving away an image of my passport. Some Kyc allow you to give ID instead, but that doesn't prove citizenship. I think there are a lot of ways that people can sneak around the KYC process, if they want coins, they'll find a way to get them. Some people will go above and beyond what is legal to make money. For me, I have to really really trust a team and a business model and a coin to send in a photo of my passport. If they leak it or sell my info, i could be a victim of identity theft.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do utility tokens really exist? on: March 16, 2018, 03:05:26 PM
Bittrex recently issued a statement claiming that all tokens listed on their exchange are NOT security tokens. I have to disagree, I believe there are very few actual utility tokens out there and I think the SEC is going to really push for fully regulated exchanges from now on (and crack down on ones that are not).

What are your thoughts on this?
What are some examples of real utility tokens?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves Sell Or Hodl? on: March 15, 2018, 01:37:27 PM
Waves is a really great platform, it is gaining popularity slowly but I think it could be as good (if not better) than Ethereum platform soon. With waves, you can create your own token, don't need to worry about SEC, KYC/AML, don't need a blockchain developer, don't need to test your code, waves deploys it for you after you enter in a few token parameters. This is such a great platform, Sasha did a wonderful job, lets support him.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guideline before you go into an ICO on: March 14, 2018, 04:02:14 PM
This is a great post, I think a few other things that make a company look credible are these:
1. When they have a blog that has weekly updates on what the team is doing or how the ICO is doing, full transparency for their token holders or potential investors
2. When you can see them actively answering questions on websites that you can make comments on
3. Something mentioned in their white paper or their website that says whether they are a utility or security token, and if security, how they will handle SEC regulations
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will we see Amazon Coin soon? on: March 13, 2018, 04:50:40 PM
I think it would be great for Amazon to have its own coin, or partner with a company like PayPal to move to a more decentralized infrastructure. 51.7% isn't an overwhelming majority by any means but its interesting to know that (assuming this poll was accurate, no bias) half of the people asked were interested. I also believe that if a company like Amazon would adopt and accept blockchain tech, main street users might become more enthusiastic about it as well.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AIRDROP] - $ENG - Ethereum New Generation Presale/ICO on: March 12, 2018, 06:05:31 PM
Everything looks really great guys, nice job. I'm curious, if you think Ethereum is outdated, why use their blockchain? Why not create your own?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Girls in the world of crypto currency on: March 10, 2018, 05:32:37 PM
I am most definitely a crypto-lady. I really got into it mid-last year, beginning with my fascination for how bitcoin was disrupting the status quo. I decided to start my own company, which I'm the CEO of. Its always been my dream to run a start-up, I have a new found passion for fintech so what better idea than to create my own token and business model. Check it out (villatoken.com, I'm the one they call Allison). I am a mechanical engineer in the Silicon Valley so I'm very used to working in a male dominated field...crypto is no different. Yes, there are less of us. No, we are not incompetent. But I definitely would have not held that North American Bitcoin Conference at a strip club in Miami in February...tisk tisk.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018 Crypto predictions on: March 10, 2018, 05:09:45 PM
I think at the end of 2018 it will be 20.000 USD again. I think more governments are going to be in favor of blockchain tech and crypto. Right now some big US banks are coming out and saying crypto is a threat to their business...which is the point. We have to start regulating the community ourselves (i.e. SAFT) before the SEC and other government entities are going to take us down.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you ❤️ crypto??? on: March 10, 2018, 12:07:12 AM
I love crypto because it utilizes blockchain technology, which will reveal all of the liars of this world.
What I mean is this: records will be kept and made public and be referenced and remembered.
Transparency will be the new standard and it will promote honesty from all industries involved.

This is my very first bitcointalk.org post  Grin
