1  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Politics without political parties. on: April 28, 2024, 09:20:15 PM
It would be nice to be governed without politics. What about trustless, decentralized anarchy [governance without government] ?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you stopped using bitcoin for small transactions completely ? on: April 22, 2024, 03:04:55 AM
It's been years since I've spent bitcoin directly from a wallet. I had put (what I thought to be) a high tx fee of $20 for less than $200. transaction and it took days.
Maybe it will go back to low friction transactions someday?
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your view on abortion? on: April 14, 2024, 05:39:29 PM
Governments should not be able to make you have one nor prevent you from having one.
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do you know which companies to trust? Help us build a product around trust on: April 14, 2024, 05:33:25 PM
The point of Cryptocurrencies and Crypto-contracts is to be trustless. Build a product that doesn't require trust.

Or give in and go the regulated/Coinbase type of route.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 07, 2023, 07:25:00 AM
The idea of any government currently known to us regulating A.I. development just doesn’t leave me feeling confidant.
Once A.I. advances enough I’d like to see it help us calculate better ways to structure government.
Until then…

“Shall we play a game?”
*I’m old it’s an 80’s movie reference ;-)

Maybe an advanced A.I. is less Ultron /HAL 9000 and more Replicant Bob v.2 in the Bobiverse?

And like the previous "Industrial Revolutions" including the recent "Digital Revolution"; A.I. 'will' change how we work.

Speaking from experience in industries I’ve worked in (Real Estate and Auto Repair) technology helps me be more efficient and knowledgeable.
On the other hand:
a Tesla can diagnose itself and order its own parts.

Isn’t it the dream for humans not to have to toil their lives away?
Those who wish to have physical jobs can become artisans and master their crafts.

" What's really scary about artificial intelligence?"

That it will "think"  and perhaps behave like us humans.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetically keeping your bitcoin when you die? on: February 28, 2022, 05:46:19 AM
Well we will have have to ask Hal Finney when he wakes up from his cryogenically frozen state, how he went about storing his bitcoin. Hal being the first person to ever receive a transaction from satoshi obviously makes him a prime suspect for being Satoshi and then having his head frozen, maybe that huge wallet is his just sitting and waiting for him.

I would +10 that if I could ;-)

yat97,

imagine yourself as a sci-fi writer and work the problem out ;-)

Personally I like the concept of PURDAH from Fall or Dodge in Hell:

"Further, Stephenson’s tremendous gift for envisioning future technological praxis is shown in Fall through his speculation, perhaps stemming from his position as “chief futurist” at the AR startup Magic Leap, about how people will protect both their privacy and their digital identities online. The creation of apps called PURDAH and VEIL fuels the editing, personalizing, hiding, and/or announcing of one’s presence in both reality and online, which sounds exciting as a means of combating the scourge of “fake news” and social media bots. PURDAH is a “Personal Unseverable Registered Designator for Anonymous Holography,” a means to provide authorship of one’s presence in the online world through identifiable traits in one’s writing. Likewise, VEIL is “Virtual Epiphanic Identity Lustre,” a means to electronically broadcast both noise and signals to facial-recognition software systems. A VEIL can jam one’s face on security cameras and in other people’s augmented glasses or convey links to one’s PURDAH as a kind of QR code or nothing at all. As a means of protecting and projecting one’s privacy and identity, it is quite intriguing — how can, and even should, we protect our identities and go where we want in the coming days of near-total video surveillance?"

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Song on: January 24, 2022, 05:35:45 AM

The Original Bitcoin Anthem in Hindi #bitcoinanthem - YouTube is by far the better song as it explains how bitcoin came into being and what problems does it solves. This song is in Hindi/Urdu language so many foreigner may not be able to understand it but it is worth listening. This song was developed last year by an indian youtube "Crypto Point Hindi" and he told that he will made a version 2.0 of this song soon.

"Original Bitcoin Anthem"
No

Bitcoin Baron YTCracker

Lyrics posted by Mordhau

You know rappers like to rock chains
I rock blockchains knock em out the box off mount gox mang
Keyring full of wallet data
I gotta pray that my ASIC incinerators
Blow the mine like a creeper one time
And my circuits divine a fine way to keep the power bill in check
My equipment is starting to sweat (from the heat)
Cryptoanarchy becoming a threat (so elite)

You know rappers like to rock pools
I got pools you can't swim in
But I'm collecting the spice like a fremen
So you fools get stepping and get to choosing your weapon
Because the deafening roar of indefinite war is epic
I found a new way to debit the people
I generate an address then I generate its sequel
I get medieval when I'm taking payments
Cause I don't want the NSA all stuck up in my anus

I'm a bitcoin baron, I'm scaring the status quo
Got that crypto dough in that dat file to blow
And the algorithm gon' get em until prism
Send us all to prison and that's a nerdy living

You know rappers like to sell drugs
But you do it on the streets
And you deader than Google buzz or Google+
There's a road made of silk if you must
Get your hustle out a chemical rush avoiding a brush with the law
Can't stop em all cause they got it anonymous
The ones that play it stupid they get thrown in a bottomless pit
Don't even know how to cut up them layers
Of the .onion so let the players play pumpkin

Hash function pumpin and dumping
Manipulate the market flood it from the dark net
Flood it from the deep web keep it a secret
Every exchange got them nerdy brains trading on the frequent
Wonder where the league went - they left the cement
Looking for the promise land online beam it
Up scotty this the future decentralized swag
Keep the work in your laptop bag

I'm a bitcoin baron I'm scaring the status quo
Got that crypto dough in that dat file to blow
And the algorithm gon' get em until prism
Send us all to prison and thats a nerdy living

You know rappers can't pay bills
Face the tax implications of evasion when they stack mils
Got a homie phil deuce one taught me the solution
Dumping all his knowledge from the booth son
Anyone can learn it if you put in the work and research
On how to launder just a fraction of your worth in the dirt
Like GZA said, keep your bonds on diverse
Cause there ain't no telling when that bubble going to burst

You know rappers say they bout the future
But you ain't Marty McFly until you bought kombucha
From a supermarket with them bitcoins do you
Get your charlie sheen greens off computer screens from the Philippines
Kratom leaves knockoff Louis vs try to freeze my assets
Long gone is the cash in the mattress (mattress)
Now it's all tied up in hashes
Wrapped up in encrypted batches (batches)

Since it's Martin Luther King Day:

"It is wrong, deadly wrong to deny any of your fellow Americans (citizens) the right to vote in this country"

MLK had a way with words...

Seriously, if you haven't seen this clip of Biden's latest foot in the mouth moment, you owe it to yourself.

That particular (yes I poorly quoted) quote was Lyndon Johnson @ about 4:52 (in between MLK snippets)

I will watch the Biden clip because you find it interesting but everyone owes themselves the favor of limiting the amount of "news" we watch.

14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ARE WE SEEING COVID-19 BEEN DEFEATED/BEATEN THIS YEAR ?! on: January 09, 2022, 06:22:58 PM
We will be living with Covid for many years but I'm hoping humanity has learned to live with it without feeling defeated over the next year or 2.
I get a flu shot every year, I'd take 2 if they let me (since they switch off which one they're dosing you with).
Maybe we're better prepared for the next global health crisis (since plenty more are coming)?
Nahhhh ;-)
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Share your story: what would you do when vaccines get mandatory? on: January 08, 2022, 04:59:56 AM
I got a 3rd dose last week and continue to write letters to my legislators against covid-vaccine mandates.

Since most of you are men on the site I'll try to post "Manly mens" perspectives as often as possible.
I wish us all wellness and comfort for the next year.

I recently read Dopamine Nation which was an interesting and quick read.

Huberman is a deep thinker one of my favorite podcasts so far was him and Robert Sapolsky (Why Zebras don't get ulcers and Behave)

In this one he talks openly about symptoms of depression and some of the chemistry involved

Moderna 1st Dose I felt site soreness and maybe a little hot and flashy ---worked that day, only site pain the next day.

Cut and paste my 2nd dose...

Got my 2nd Moderna in May-- before going in to work, other than site pain and what felt like slight hot flashes I felt fine.
Next Day : felt slightly crappy, had a 6am- 6:45pm work shift so I felt really crappy by the end of the day --heavy and fatigued, slight hot flashes.
Next day no symptoms, arm pain fading.

Just got my flu shot a couple weeks ago---this one hurt equally to the covid shot (which is not usual but the administrator was new ;-)

So far with the information available I would be comfortable taking boosters for covid as needed.

Got a 3rd dose of Moderna on the 30th after work
Pain/burning when getting the shot but didn't get sore until later.
Felt Meh the next morning, slept in til 9ish, went and ran errands (hot and flashy a couple times and draggin' ass), felt better later in the day.
Today: I feel well and the arm is only sore when I bump into something while cleaning out the RV for the New Year!
18  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If you were to create your own society, small or big, what would it look like? on: December 25, 2021, 06:47:23 AM
I like this question and your ideas.
I'm American  and  grew up watching Star Trek so the ideal and example of equality and respect for differences was something I took for granted (and mistook for truth).
The idea of non-conquering exploration, science as a way of life, merit of skill and experience combined with the individual as being part of a larger "whole"...
because no matter how remote you are the choices of the rest of the world (and universe) affects you.
For now we can only strive to rise to those ideals.

My imaginary society would be structured like Star Trek Discovery but in a time without need for political structure (or wars to fight) and love for or non belief in God would never be used as weapon against each other.

In reality, if we little people held our governments accountable to us and created laws slanting towards people instead corporate interests: collectively, we might thrive more quickly
but here we are in the age our ancestors will look back on and... wonder why we didn't do better or with the forgiveness of knowing we simply hadn't evolved past our egos yet
and did the best we could with the mental capacity we were working with? ;-)
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hosts are dropping like flies... or at least dropping me on: November 25, 2021, 05:18:32 AM
just the shipping cost is going to be around $150 each. But the bigger issue is the 27% duty

Mercy! I haven't mined in years (2016) so my perspective is totally out of date *apparently that's like 100 in bitcoin years  Grin
It was always as a home/hobby project so it took maxing out my houses ability, increasing difficulty + a cross country move for me to stop "upgrading".

Yeah...no, I said what I had to say to you.

I'm sure you'll have plenty of posters come along shortly to continue the stupid ass conversation you're having with yourself.

*there's probably nothing useful for me to add to this conversation.
