1  Economy / Lending / Re: Inventor needing about 1200. on: March 24, 2018, 03:01:56 AM
we all need money. and it's hard to figure out who really needs it and who's just scamming.

Wish there was a blockchain thing that could solve this. Like one that's able to weed out the scammers from the beggars.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoins are dying on: March 24, 2018, 02:34:45 AM
Yet another thread that's not being deleted about altcoins dying or crashing, or crashing and dying, or crashing, burning, then dying...

Bitcointalk is getting redundant sometimes.

To put it bluntly, you need to be more specific. Is bitcoin cash dying? No. Is Bitconnect dying? Yes.

That's like if crypto were programs vs. apps, and you asked, "Are programs dying!?!?"
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk says goodbye to facebook on: March 24, 2018, 02:13:39 AM
That's it. FB is heading down the drain fast.

I was saying on reddit that FB was around for lke a decade or so, and in internet terms that's almost three decades.

They had a really good run. No need for Zuck and his peeps to try to hang on to a sinking ship. They made billions. Just exit.

I've never run a super successful company like that (who has?) but I can't understand why they don't want to just drop ship. Like, how much money could you really need in this life that you'd stress over that much just to save a company that's already made you that much money?

But then again, without FB, I'm not sure where people will flock to. Twitter and IG are probably the most popular social media after FB, but they're only good for flash updates and pictures. FB was the "wholesome" social media that had the profile pic, bio, everything like that.

WILL MYSPACE STEP IT UP? XD
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYC: Bitstamp wants to know how much I'm making on: March 23, 2018, 10:43:43 AM
what is there not to understand?!!!
you are using fiat, aren't you? and when you use fiat, you have to follow certain laws including this KYC/AML thing. for example if you try trading stocks with your fiat, they will ask you the same questions. even if you go to an online shop like Steam and try buying a game with your fiat they will ask your address,... for the same reasons.

so why are you surprised when they are asking the same questions when you try to use your fiat to trade bitcoin?

Pretty sure they don't ask you for your income bracket when you shop on Steam with fiat............
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: G20 financial heads to urge crypto-asset monitoring to safeguard financial stabi on: March 23, 2018, 10:32:17 AM
So is this supposed to be new FUD? They're starting to monitor how much crypto people have... is that why KYC is happening on exchanges now?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYC: Bitstamp wants to know how much I'm making on: March 23, 2018, 10:25:37 AM
Sigh this is bad news.

Probalby will start some FUD, and we'll see another crashing in price as people try to veer away from exchanges.

That's why decentralized exchanges are going to pump in coin price.

Because you already know that KYC for exchanges leads to the banning of US customers. Just like how US people can't participate in ICOs unless they're certified... soon exchanges will have to do the same *sigh*

Decentralized exchanges are where it's at. We should really take a look at which decentralized exchange is making the top popularity. That's the one we should all flock to.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guys what do you think about the future of BNB? on: March 23, 2018, 09:12:33 AM
It's gonna get bigger. Binance is becoming one of the top exchanges, if it isn't already.

So BNB's price can only become higher.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this FUD or a genuine cause for concern? on: March 23, 2018, 07:50:04 AM

Have you not heard of the internet? People could do all that long before Bitcoin's blockchain came online. I guarantee you people are not using the blockchain for the purpose of porn, when there's a much better medium to that sort of thing.

That's not true, man. People used to do that, but then the government got smart about it and that's why they banned megaupload and other file2sharing sites. I think I heard that piratebay got closed down too.

Point is, there's always a crackdown after a matter of time.

And it's even moreso if it's your personal info, like if someone has inappropriate pics of you and they post it online, you can get a court-order and it WILL be taken down.

Sure, people can re-upload to a new site.. but the point is, that new site will eventually be taken down.

But no one can enforce anything on the bitcoin blockchain, and that's why it's scary.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: social networks in 2018 bounty on: March 23, 2018, 06:59:31 AM
They're only banning ads.

They didn't ban like tweeting or posting or making pages about crypto. They'll probably ban ICOs though :/ so be careful.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: We should be thankful of whales, not hate them on: March 23, 2018, 06:50:00 AM
People hate whales when they sell and crash the market.

People love whales when they buy and pump the market.

Circle of life. sings a whale song
11  Other / Meta / Re: How long will merit exist? on: March 23, 2018, 06:17:22 AM
I think merit will continue to exist... but I'm not sure for how long.
people who deserve to rank up aren't ranking up because sMerits aren't being fairly awarded. notice they only give sMerits to each other, like some kind of circleshake. Legendaries only give merits to Legendaries, and so on and so forth. If they give merits to newbies it's only 1 and rarely at that.

i dunno but i think the merit system will be gone in a year. Like confido.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018-03-22 Zcash's Coming Hard Fork Could Pave the Way for Even More on: March 23, 2018, 06:07:33 AM
So what exactly is the big change that this hard fork is going to implement that will speed up transactions?

There are so many privacy coins out there, why is Zcash better?
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this FUD or a genuine cause for concern? on: March 23, 2018, 05:29:03 AM
Its a genuine concern for miners and people who use a wallet which downloads the full blockchain instead of electrum etc. This is because there is that 1 actual pic on the blockchain (not the links). These people will now have a picture of child porn on their hard drive. Possession of a copy of a child porn is always illegal no matter what. It is one of the few laws where possession establishes the entire crime and not intent. For instance if a child you dont even know randomly sends you a nude pic you are automatically guilty.

no there is no picture, there is only hashes on the blockchain. in facts it is only 80 bytes max data which you then have to decipher and then follow it until you get to a picture.

this is just the media doing a widespread attack on bitcoin with certain pre-created content that they keep on releasing on fixed intervals to keep pushing the price down by creating panic in the market. and that is not even new. this news came out back in 2013 https://www.dailydot.com/business/bitcoin-child-porn-transaction-code/ or in other words when we had one of the bigger bubbles in bitcoin from $10 to $250 (2400%) and price was falling afterwards. now price had another bubble from $1000 to $20000 (1900%) and is now falling again and the same bullshit news is coming out.... hmmm...

on the same topic, this is interesting example from bitcoin.com (https://news.bitcoin.com/no-isnt-child-porn-bitcoin-blockchain/)
Quote
Asserting that there is child pornography on the blockchain would be like strolling through the U.S. Capitol Building, dropping a scrap of paper containing a deep web address, and then claiming that the American government is storing obscene content.

Yeha man... bitcoin at $10 was such a huge bubble, that thing was definitely not going past $11, was going to fall back to $0.3. That's totes what was going to happen. These experts
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this FUD or a genuine cause for concern? on: March 23, 2018, 04:51:39 AM
I believe this is a legitimate concern. Not just for child porn people. It's for anything.

Suddenly you have a tool anyone can use to upload any kind of sensitive material that no court in the whole world can take down.

You can't censor this either because that would be against bitcoin's decentralization policy. You can't have some kidn of central police that checks files uploaded to the blockchain.

So let's say some dude wants to have revenge on his ex, he can just upload nudes of her onto the bitcoin blockchain, and suddenly no one can take it down.

I think we should just hard fork or soft fork to disallow any kind of extraneous data on the blockchain, it should just be transactions.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: I want to invest more of what I don't have (money) on: March 23, 2018, 04:20:41 AM
I want to invest a few more thousands into eos, iota, and aion for the win. Too bad it will take me a few more weeks. I am so drained lol. Anyone else thinking like this? So motivated to invest. But lacking the funds.

I'm sure a significant amount of the crypto community thinks like this. It's why it's called gambling by so many.

People throw in money they can't afford to lose, then the market crashes when their bills are due. So they end up desperate.

The only people who make it in crypto are the ones with money they can afford to tie up for years. Because they're the ones who can long-term hodl.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does adding nodes in Bitcoin core increase its speed? on: March 12, 2018, 10:40:23 PM
Wow, with 0.22% every hour... I can see this as being a huge barrier to BTC adoption by normal people.

It's probably why people resort to using hardware wallets, like Trezor, or online web wallets.

But, I guess in the same token... if Bitcoin is to be used as a banking alternative, with utmost security... then it only makes sense that high tech specs are required by someone's computer in order to integrate the "banking system" with their computer. Minimum of 150 GB lol.

I guess that means in the future you'll have a computer that's solely for bitcoin purposes, which is more secure in the long run.

I agree with the others, it's not about the nodes, but rather your computer's specs. It's 150 GB that your hard drive has to validate via processors and such. Not going to be a lightning fast process... but once it's done, you'll finally have bitcoin core running and you can make cold wallets and everything. Smiley
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What exchanges will survive? on: March 12, 2018, 04:38:50 PM
Thus far, anything can happen. MT. GOx was the best crypto exchange and the largest. People thought it was legit and it really was... but all it took was one (ok many) insider hacks... and suddenly it went down without allowing too many withdrawals.

I personally think Kraken, Bittrex, and Binance and Coinbase are the safest bets. Poloniex has a lot of FUD, and I'm not really sure if anyone uses it anymore when all the new coins appear on either rex or nance. And Poloniex often has server issues that screws everyone over.

But i really feel like it just takes one really good hack to take down Bittrex and Binance.

Coinbase can get hacked, but it has backing by the federal reserve, so I think it will survive. Kraken seems like a solid exchange too. Kraken was around since Mt. Gox, and has remaind strong without any hacks.
