1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥⛏️ [MAINNET] [UPX] uPlexa ⚡️ Anonymity and eCommerce via IoT on: October 09, 2019, 07:42:52 PM
Just a bit of backstory: I'm a massive UPX fanboy. I see this coin going big. And I mean BIG big. I've been with the project since October of 2018 - original airdrop HODLer.

I have just one question: Any way we can get a 32-bit ARM image of XMRig-UPX? I have a Raspberry Pi 4B which currently to my knowledge does not have a 64-bit OS, so I'm sorta stuck with it sitting idle. It would definitely fit in with the whole "IoT" concept, it being a tiny little SBC.

I'm curious how the new Broadcom BCM2711 in it will hash - 4 A72 cores at 1.5 GHz. For anyone living under a rock, this is a massive improvement over the 3B+ - in some applications, 3x performance uplifts.

I am a total Linux newb, so if anyone has a remote clue how I could compile this for my rPi, please let me know!  Smiley

I'd love to see these little things being benchmarked, they would be perfect for this!

As soon as i am able to i'll be setting up my mobile "farm", i have nearly 30 phones so far and all capable of around 5Khs so we'll see what comes of it.

30x5khs=150khs. Now you only have to calculate how much power they draw. Wink
And if the phones are free, then you are really lucky. Please post pictures
when your UPX farm is installed. I bet it will be an interesting sight to behold!

Absolutely they are all older phones i think Samsung mate 5's or something like that and if memory serves correctly they all come with 3W psu's, need to confirm that though when i can get to them. But i doubt very much if all of them running will drawing more then 120w?... Again though i would have to confirm this.

I think the current difficulty has hit profitability hard since the fork, My earning has dropped severely.
I could be mistaken but i speculate that the high difficulty could work against the miners.

Difficulty of the math problem adjusts so the solutions are found every 2 minutes on average. That's how PoW crypto works. More miners, higher difficulty. Its miners against other miners.

I'm not sure why you feel he needs a basic reminder of how crypto works. He's saying that his profits are down, and he suspects its because of the difficulty. There's nothing incorrect about his statement. I've made the same observation many times.

My question remains, with rising difficulty and more GPU miners, how will UPX equalize hash rates for android and IoT devices? I know android is much faster now. So is GPU reportedly. What exactly are we gaining here?

Quote: "I could be mistaken but i speculate that the high difficulty could work against the miners."

That sentence is not what someone who knows how crypto works would say. More miners coming in, increases the difficulty. That's how PoW works. Its miners going against other miners. It's a feature of the system. If more miners come in, hashrate and thus the difficulty will increase and you will earn less coins than before, unless you add additional hardware.

Now, how much this algo has equalized GPUs and Phones/IoT, you'd have to compare the hashrates of before and after and see what kind of increase each device got and work out the difference.

On a GPU i got an 8x increase for example. If you got more than that on your Phone, then there you go, you're more competitive than before.

I may not be an expert but my understanding of how crypto works is fine. What you mistake for an ignorant statement was actually a personal observation, clearly explained in the previous sentence.

My observation was that : After the fork, I noticed a sharp decline in my daily earnings. I speculated that this was probably due to the difficulty being disproportionate to the short time after the fork and the hashrate being produce on the hardware mining on the new algo.

After most forks the difficulty should be very low and increase slowly over time as more and more hash hits the new algo.

So before you start insulting my intelligence perhaps you should read more carefully and understand what the person is saying no?

Any thoughts on the new Fork?
Hash rate is far better now but is it what everyone expected? (P.S this is not FUD, I am interested in what everyones thoughts are after the fork)
Let us all know PRO's, CON's, Ideas/suggestions.

I'm excited to see how the new fork and updated miners are going to perform.
Initial review from people testing on testnet have said hashrate is awesome!

If you have 150 Mh/s on Android I would like to know which phone/device you're using: mine does around 150 h/s... Wink

I am here to learn and therefore throwing some bones, thanks for the input so far, but I want more...
If the project stays strong and GPU punishment is enough to let CPU and IoT rule the network, it's only a matter of waiting for the right amount of IoT's to
support the network. Then the moment arrives to start punishing CPU's to get the network run only by IoT devices. This will take years to accomplish but
in my opinion is doable for uPlexa as a first mover. Don't forget the processing power and the algorithms will evolve as well during this timeframe.
In my head it sounds simple, but it probably isn't... fire away...!

Yes, I think you're saying something reasonable. That's how I imagine it. The one issue I have is, in the years it takes to accomplish the IoT network, the GPU miners (myself included) will have built up some big bags of UPX. So what's the problem? Well, if the project punishes GPU miners a bit, then those GPU miners will have to move onto other coins. Most likely they will start dumping their UPX, and because of the large bags they have, it will keep UPX price down for years with all the selling pressure. Maybe investors come in to buy up the coin, but in terms of strengthening the network, it's going to be hard to go from GPU hashpower down to IoT/phone  hashpower. I only mention this because I've seen a number of CPU coins that get stomped once the GPU miners come in.

Now wouldn't it be cool if we could get 100Mh/s on android. Smiley

And yeah, fruityminer hasn't released the update yet. Maybe if they don't our discussion about GPU will be over. Smiley

Personally i don't think GPU mining will ever be shut down, not only because it's still the most affordable high-hashrate form of mining (FPGA and ASICs are still crazy money) it's also the "bread and butter" for all miners. Coins like UPX make it possible to use smaller older GPU's you wouldn't dream of using on anything else. so i believe there is still a place for GPU's in all forms.
Granted UPX's primary platform is and should remain CPU,IoT and mobile tech but with out the hashrate of GPU's supporting the network we couldn't possibly expect the coin to grow or remain stable... Sure there are people out there using server CPU's and cranking out 7kh+ with them but not everyone has access to such hardware. There are of course the more powerful multi cored PC CPU's but they aren't affordable either. so in that regard there really isn't anything out there more affordable then GPU's.

This project has a good lay out plan and roadmap, but I will like to find out the current progress and state of this project. are the set plans on the roadmap for the first year of the launch of the project achieved ?

Absolutely! I have been with the community pretty much from the beginning and i have yet to see the Devs miss a deadline by more then a couple of days or without proper notification.
This DEV team is pretty solid and dare i say better then most of the top ten crowd!

Better yet there is always someone in the community willing to help out if the Dev team is to busy to respond right away, but in most cases they are pretty much on top of things.

Is  rx 480mining uplexa profitable?

You can check a list of user submitted benchmarks on this page https://www.uplexamining.com/hw-benchmarks/
You hv to determined whether it is profitable for you. happy mining  Wink

I think The RX cards do well on All CN Algo's but specifically on UPX i would say there is profit to be made
But it all depends on the Electricity cost in your area and other costs (hardware and storage if not locally hosted).

Id like to learn more about the partnership as well, as for the MN subject I'm pretty sure the devs have that in the bag.

We still don't know the details iisbetoq. There is only a a news, saying "utility masternodes" are coming.
A certain amount of UPX will be needed to run such masternode, that is for sure.
My personal "guess" is somewhere around 1-2 million UPX.
Or it might be some other, more clever method for staking (Tiered, timed, etc.).

I agree with RyanDokter and I think more important now is the practical use of the uPlexa coin tech.
There are many coins which... just exist.
For no apparent reason, hoping that someone will make use of their tech, just like that.
So partnerships are very important, because they ensure real-world use and this equals growth.

Absolutely! At this point in time growth is important, i mean we all know the coin is under valued. We all know the current value is wanting to climb, but without growth and adoption we as a community will find it extremely difficult to see this project go anywhere close to where it should be. Im hoping to see 30 sats before the end of the year, but that will need growth and adoption first.

If i knew my broadband connection was 100% reliable and electricity bill was affordable i would have absolutely no problems hosting my own MNs. I do however believe we shouldn't loose site of what UPX is all about and thats decentralisation through IoT. I would love to be able to run MN of something like an NUC, or at least something small, maybe even a mobile phone.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥⛏️ [MAINNET] [UPX] uPlexa ⚡️ Anonymity and eCommerce via IoT on: April 19, 2019, 02:28:13 PM
Personally I don't think hardware is an issue for most nore hosting the hardware at home. You could quite comfortably run a MN on a minipc like an i3NUC. The problem is having it connected to the the blockchain 24x7 because a MN requires that above all else, a disconnect would ruin the security of the blockchain and also the work its doing and therefore your earning and staking potential. Network connectivity is the most important factor running a MN.

I for one am really excited at the chance of staking and or owning a MN so roll on the hard fork so we can get on with the PoS/MN

Good to see a solid settle at 16 sats after the correction. Not a bad pump from the under dog coin no one believed in.

This project is going to go far and make big waves in the cryptoverse.

18 sats and still showing signs of going higher.

Props to the devs and the team for keeping this project going!
Keep up the great work!

UPX is finally being recognized for the champion Altcoin it always was! With breaking news and development happening in the back ground i expect more success will come our way this year will be exciting full of ups and down, but when the dst settles we will see UPX in the top 100 and i believe this will happen sooner then we think!

Thanks to all the dev team and the community for making UPX such a great project!

In terms of being "green" there are many miners turning to renewable energy to counter commercial costs of electricity.
I don't have specifics but i have seen a few saying their mining is 100%powered by solar energy or wind energy so it is possible in the right circumstances to be completely green.

I for one would like to explore this further as well at some point.

Masternodes are essential for achieveing speed and cheap transactions.
However, many coins tend to die out when they enter that phase.
Do you think masternodes are the way to go for uPlexa to become really quick
and almost free to transfer UPX?

Do you know of any other way to achieve it?
Maybe they can implement some kind of "lighting network" transactions, or some kind of "off-chain transaction" like Pivx or clones does? Though it does it through Masternodes, so I guess we're kinda stuck with them here Wink
Masternodes the uPlexa way will be different, anyway... Because first of all, everyone will be able to accumulate the collateral by regular PoW mining, and then.. I'm not sure the Masternodes phase will mean extinction of the PoW phase. Maybe both could co-exist? Wouldn't it be the best of both worlds? After all, PoW mining and Masternodes/staking have different purposes in the network.

Question to uPlexa dev: will PoW continue along with Masternodes?

Yes PoW will make up the larger percentage of the Uplexa environment to ensure the IoT vision is realised.
However i do believe that IF Masternodes are introduced that there will be a fair and sustainable method of obtaining one.

Hi guys! This is all very exciting.
I've heard a couple of people talking about possibly looking at masternodes in the future.

Is this something that's being considered by the core team?

I heard the same about PoS, I believe they are considering both
I for one can't wait for that to start!
